One thing I am sure of is that humanity will always have conflict and war. There have been many examples of enemies working together to defeat a common foe all throughout history. So I find no reason why a such war-like creatures such as ourselves could unite to conquer the machines, and then revert back to being enemies. This is what makes Dune so special. Our level of tech is advancing steadily even though humanity is even now on the brink of barbarism. I don't care how far advanced we get or how far in the future it is, we will always be on the brink of total distruction. This is what makes us human. It's what drives us. Always searching for answers and always finding new questions. If we stop doing this, we become nonhuman. We become machines.
