That was interesting information Steve... Here in Australia they never showed all the sponsor intros ever that I can recall. Even the Brand New Video Prints of Series 1 and 2 that are in daily rotation on a.m. cable TV just have the short opening theme song (actually half the opening theme song that fades out as William Frawley's name appears).
As a matter of fact I always assumed that Fred introducing the series with "Hi, Welcome to our show!" was just unique to M3S, and I've never seen it on Don Fedderson's other series "Family Affair" although I read on this board that it existed. I have just this year seen all the opening segments of the theme song and credits for the earliest black and white episodes of "Bewitched" on that show's website, and they have many variations (Chevrolet, Quaker Oats, etc) with alternate versions of the theme music.
Here in Australia we have ALWAYS had the liltingly nice opening theme song on all episodes featuring Dick York.
My only complaint is that when Columbia prepared the new prints here they recorded the same opening theme to every Black and White episode with the credit and Copyright reading "Copyright MCMLXVI by Screen Gems,A Division of Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc." (That is 1966)
This is an anomaly as the B/W episodes should read "Copyright MCMLXIV" (i.e. 1964)as they do on many 16mm TV recordings I have from the 1980's and its obvious that this is a colored segment made Black and White to fit the openings. Nevertheless Sponsor openings do not seem to fit the locale of International Television!
