This is a new one on me! I actually had my tonsils out in the US when I was 8, 1960s, and had no additional procedures that I Know of other than adenoidectomy, which was routinely done with tonsillectomy at the time. I was actually allowed to keep my underpants on during the surgery, and had the same pair on when I awoke that I did when I was given anesthesia. I was circumcised at birth, RIC. Circumcision is the only additional procedure that I know of that was done during a tonsillectomy. One of my cousins actually got this when he was about 4 during the late 1940s and this procedure was at its peak. I realize I'm talking about time frames before most of the procedures reported here have taken place, but I have also had one or two male relatives who had their tonsils out in the 1980s and later and, I have known several people who worked in the medical field and have never heard of catheterization for a tonsillectomy. That is not to say it doesn't happen, just that I am totally unfamiliar with it. If a thorough medical exam was desired or ordered to check for sexual abuse, or other issues, or other medical tests or procedures were desired or ordered, it is logical that they might be done while the child is anesthetized for a tonsillectomy. But I have no knowledge, direct or indirect that anything like this has ever happened.

All that being said, I think it would be helpful if you could post summary or precis or abstract of your beliefs and conclusions, and what you base them on.

Thanks and I hope this is in some way helpful.
