She was rightfully removed, came back, competed fairly (and wonderfully), won Miss Texas and had a great showing at Miss America. It is a story of redemption and forgiveness and not being canceled and I think Jordan deserves the same. We all do because none of us can pass a purity test. I'm rooting for her and think she can do very well!

The whole "bad behavior" trope is a purity standard applied to strong women and even more so to strong women of color who are expected to stay in their lane, toe the company line, be "manageable", and don't make too much noise. That we would ask ANY modern young woman to act like a 1950's sitcom housewife is why pageants have become a joke to people outside our circle. I have faith that Allison has a much different vision for Volunteer America and I think each of the inaugural state titleholders reflect the evolution of pageantry...and that certainly includes Jordan.
