Ashertith�s voice, faintly teasing, made his new rider look up with a start. The young man was struck dumb momentarily as he stared at Synthis, and he listened to her speak to him with an expression it was hard to read. Even for Ashertith.

The brown dragon went back to his bucket, nudging it next to Xiualith so that the two were eating together. It would seem the have bee waiting for this for a while. He remarked, and waited for his rider to respond to the girl. Exasperated, Ashertith finally gave his rider a good swat of his tail, bringing him back to consciousness.

�Y-your voice is beautiful.�

He had no idea what to say. Or do. She seemed embarrassed, and he couldn�t work out why. Once again, it seemed to be left up to the dragon.

Excuse me. Ashertith said politely to the green. M�ATT! Are you listening? You are, even if I can�t hear a reply. Now what are you going to do? Kiss her? Or run away like a tunnel-snake?

�Ash, what can I do?�

I just gave you your options!

If the ancients had said �yes, but� do you think I would be here? If Golgith had considered the flight and said �yes, but�, do you think he would have caught Grenith? Would I be alive? Yes but gets nothing done! His point made, he turned back to his food, happy to eat.

So, with that advice in mind, M�att shyly sidled up to Synthis, waiting for the right moment.
