IM A BIG FAN THE BOYS FROM GARDNER AREA, I LOVE TO SEE THOSE CARS RUN SINCE THEY ARE FROM THE SAME AREA. I FOLLOWED THE GROUP TO HALLSVILLE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AND WAS A LITTLE IN SHOCK TO SEE THE MAJORITY OF CARS GO SLOWER THAN THEY HAD IN EUNICE THE SATURDAY BEFORE.

THESE ARE NOT ACCURATE ETS BUT ARE WITHIN A 10TH

WILLES RED CAR 11.36 EUNICE-----11.71 HALLSVILLE
DONNIES NOVA 11.42 EUNICE-----11.47 HALLSVILLE
RONNIES MUSTANG 10.44 EUNICE-----10.56 HALLSVILLE
CANDY 11.3? EUNICE-----11.2? HALLSVILLE

ALL CARS WERE SET UP THE SAME AS THEY WERE IN EUNICE EXCEPT FOR CANDY, THEY BEEN BUSTING THERE BUTS TO GET THAT NEW COMBO WORKING

THE TEMPERTURES WERE COOLER,(NIGHT RACING) THE TRACK WAS WELL SPRAYED BUT THE TIMES WERE OFF BAD. HELL THE TRACK EVEN GOES DOWN HILL AFTER THE 100OFT AREA THAT SHOULDNT HELP ETS TOO?

I SAY EUNICE MUST BE STICKER THAN SOME THOUGHT. A WET,BALD TRACK(NO FRESH RUBBER IN 8 MTHS) WITH NO PREP YIELDED HIGHER ETS THAN A SEASONED, DRY TRACK THAT WAS SPRAYED AND TEMPERTURES WERE BETTER AT NIGHT

EUNICE IS ROUGH BUT IS IT WORTH DRIVING TO A TRACK IN TEXAS THAT YIELDS LESS ET. I HOPE THESE GUYS RECONSIDER RUNNING IN EUNICE. IM NOT DRIVING ALL THAT WAY AGAIN TO SEE THE CARS GO SLOWER AND GET HOME AT 3AM. MAY BE THEY HAD POOR CONDITIONS AT HALLSVILE THAT NIGHT BUT IT CAN GET NO WORSE THAN A FLOOD AND A BALD TRACK SATURDAY THE 5TH.

ART I WAS ONE OF THE GUYS THAT SAID ID NEVER SET FOOT ON YOUR TRACK TILL IT IS REDONE, I TAKE IT BACK.

Alan, your summation in general is correct but in this case not accurate.
The elevation of the Eunice track is 42 ft above sea level. The elevation of the Hallsville track is between 300-500 ft above sea level. This difference in performances of the cars will not deviate but .03 seconds in the quarter mile based on this elevation differential. That is 3/100th's of a second.
Out of curiosity to your post, I pulled out my FAA sectional navigation charts and found that the elevation of the tallest point in the Hallsville area would be 500 ft; the peak of a hill that a communications tower is located on. The low point in this area is 300 ft msl and the heighest being 500 ft msl, so the Hallsville track is probably around 400 ft msl. The correction factor of the Hallsville track, if the track elevation is say 400 ft msl, would be approximately .9978. This in laymen terms would be to multiply your Hallsville ET by .9978 and you would then have a "corrected" ET.
The correction factor of the Eunice track is so miniscule that it won't even show up on paper. What you run is just about all she's gonna do.

Thought it was clear. The only time that X and Bozo were at the same track at the same time was mid January 2003 at Hallsville when X cruised an easy 9.78 @ 142.60 to "whatever" that crappy time your backfiring Bozo was posting. X even stomped a mudhole in J.C.'s goat, the mystery car that scared all contenders there. This was X's maiden trip down the track. If you forgot, go to O'Reilly's and look at the cork board on the wall showing the successive photos of the run, J.C & Frenchman.
At that time, Turbo Mike would've slaughtered you on the street w/o breathing hard. This is factual; I am not joking.
It's ok that Bryan C. helps you with all of your motor chores and it's ok that you buy J.C.'s reject parts but please cut out all of the "no show crap." It was never necessary to make another trip out there to embarass you further.
So please, put a muffler on it unless you are going to have your car at the race Sunday.

As for as running for money you did not talk to Chucky about that.You talked to Dustin about that and agreed to it with him. If any one make a bet it should be agreed between the two people and dead locked before the run. If Mali was so fast you could have run her with that motor you had.You don't have to be afraid of the big 4600lb 4 door street car. Sound like you have doubts about Mali.If you don't want to run on the street thats fine just like Chucky don't run on the track.

One of Team Doucets Old cars was playing today


This car went mid 8s in 99 when an old NMCA racer had his high dollar Buick headed small block in it...the car was sold to a jigalo in mississippi...soon after the car kissed the wall at hattisgurg..

Well jigalo had to have the car that was setting the 10.5w racing scene on fire...He bought the beast from bill doucet and we took the boo on trade...(needed a front clip)..
we sold the boo to glen clues..bill built a oval port headed 477 for the car and the car went low 10s on motor..
well a small plate was put on it and it yeided some 9 teens...clues sold the car to some guys from rayne recently and the car now has been painted...

on there 3rd pass today they were back in the ballpark where they left off...

the track is still got all the same bumps...a whole lot of more bruises though..

the club will hold races at eunice on the 1st sat of each month like before the storm but since there is concern for the amount of track prep that is done the club will take volunters to help prep the track on our race day only..

all races for spots will be done at the latest part of the day due to the heat....i am working with a lighting contractor to get some lights donated for night racing so that it will be better for the racers and spectators also.

once a spot is taken i feal if that spot holder feels he/she cant "let the power loose" out there they can name the place to hold a race for there spot..


this is not a ruling just my opinions...

cars from the high ten second range and up were not having troubles today...

where the problem will lye is the small tire stock suspenion cars...these guys are putting alot of power down and need to be on a sticky track or they are at a disadvantage...

X will run you if you: Put new tires on the front, install 4/4 lugnuts for the wheels instead of 3/4, strap that battery that's sliding all over the rear of your ride.
X's motor is hitting on all 8 now that the valve spring reshimming is complete. However X's tranny is in Baton Rouge now and should be ready Wed or Th of next week. Lots of machine work, and upgrades going in. We can schedule a "sprint" next weekend (just for laughs if you like) but Turbo Mike is going to have to pay if he wants to prove his point.

track repair quote, none official yet -- Frenchman, 00:15:13 07/11/03 Fri

I met with Mr. Laddie James of Prairie Const this a.m. at the Opelousas Industrial Park. He told me that he'd been asked for an overlay quote a few years back but Laddie didn't elaborate or remember who the track owner was or who was inquiring. I suspect that the estimate scared whoever off.
I then drove to the track and walked the entire length (approx 3300 ft) I agree that it's in rough shape. If nothing is done soon, then they might as well "let it go"
As the fissures set, rainwater is penetrating and weakening the basecourse. It's condition will worsen exponentially.
There are only (2) Prairie Const estimators at the Opelousas office and both were out on other jobs and therefore unavailable.
He told me to check back Mon or Tues of next week and they'd ride out, evaluate, and quote.
Though we subcontract all of our asphalt work, I can give you my own preliminary estimate.
To do it most cost-effectively, I'd lay 2" over the entire track; 1320 ft acceleration area + 2000 ft shut-down area. I'll give what I think is a low and high figure on a 2" overlay. (without milling/ cold planing).
The acceleration area only would range from $66000 - $102000 and the shutdown area would range from $100,000 - $150000. This would be using $40/ton to $60/ton in place.
Then you'd still be required to remove the concrete launch pads and repour that also. Figure about $8000-$10000 for that. Throw in some new electrical conduit and wire for the tree and 330', 660' markers, etc. and that'll add a tad more.
If you elected to cold plane the whole thing and salvage the concrete launch pads, I think you'd be making a mistake. Cold Planing will cost about $1.50/ sq yard X 27500 sq yds so that'd cost about $41,000 in order to save a little bit of concrete pavement (launch pads) that's worth maybe $10000.
Anybody want to buy one of these racetracks?
My argument still stands. When you own one of these tigers, the decision to upgrade it is a tough one. "Should I keep feeding the tiger or do I let loose of the tail and become lunch." Throw in some bad luck and a monthly note that has plenty of zeros on the end and you will understand Art's dilemna. These are tough business decisions and when the bank is stretched like a rubberband ready to pop, you'll understand a trackowners (or other business-owner's predicament.) $215000 ain't chump change!
Edwardo, If you want an official estimate from Prairie Const, I'll pursue this early next week, but I'll need a key to the gate.

I'll move some appt's around but I will give you an answer before close of business this Friday.
HOPEFULLY, they're working an overlay job in the Eunice vicinity; that'll help in cutting the cost.
I know those guys and they'll probably ride out to the track with me tomorrow and evaluate.


Now, I've got a serious question. Who is the most knowledgable on the TH-400 transmission? I need to talk to someone who has already ID'd the weak links and has really put the power to one of these. The first person to come to mind is Jo Jo LaFrance, who campaigns the Big Blue Cadillac. But he has since upgraded to a Lenco. Anybody else in Cenla? Not a typical re-sealer but a high-end builder that really knows?

heres the deal.....the place got stomped 2 times by torandos a one hurricane in the last 8-10 years...horriffic damage occured..

when we as a club agreed to go race there the deal was for him to start doing improvements...none happened but the place was slammed by a tornado...he did buy a asplalt machie and a roller to start repairing the return road and the entrance road though..

offering to help do repairs...i should rephrase that...we need to offer track prep help so that the "teeth" will come back out..he doesnt prep it corectly on saturdays because the crowds arent as big and it does cost alot of money for that stuff...if we convince him to spray it and pool resourses to get some people there hell keep doing it

talking back with the old guys thats raced there for years theres always been a bump 100 foot out and always the roughness on top end.

talking to one racer that was there sunday..his short times at state capital is 1.43 and thats at night....sunday in eunice he went 1.45 in the heat with 120 degree track temp...not to bad for a track that hadnt had many runs on it in a years time i think..

our 10.5w tire blown alky car went 160 something mph out there...no problems if we prepped the track...

now the motor is going in a split window vette..the boost will go way back up..it will be run out there also...but only if the track is prepped.

Evadale just went up on spectator admissions by 3 bucks a head...he sees that he couldnt put $ in his pockets at the rate he was going....soon the racer fees will go up too if the spectator count dont support the $ he needs to make it profitable...

remember this is a buisness for these track owners...not a hobby

No Problem Raceway has a 29,000 a month note on the place out there...i can see with some bad luck like art has had happening there it never reopening it.

Art has spent 15-20000 dollars in note payments and didnt have a one person come thru the gate.

i would have given up 10 years ago after 1st tornado...he kept a old track open for the love of the sport...

if hes willing to put profits back into the track to resurface im in to help get the teeth back in the starting area....what about everyone else

yes i do realize this is a business . that is why he should bring the track to the racers standards. this will get people to come and race.if he ask or wait on others to come and do this track prep for him then you will still be in same shape, the racer will come help once or twice and then call it quits. that is because the owner will see he can get you there and take your money also on race day. i am sure art knew what he was in for when he reopened the track. this man is not going to open to lose money. and all tracks will go up on price to get in. i know what it cost to race for a hobby. i was a sponsor on a dirt track car plus pit member and we spent anywhere from 500-1500 to race per month on easy monthes not tearing up our equip. that is why i have changed to drag so i can see my car in good health unless i tear it upmyself.the money is not a problem my problem is if you are going to run a track run a good one for the racer. just like we do we want to race so we buy or build good race cars and trucks. so i feel it is up to him to provide the track surface to see us run on his track. that is why i pay at the gate. not trying to be a prude just feel this way. later hoghead

ive talked to several members that are willing to spend a hour on club race days prepping the starting area for our race...Our races will set the standard on getting spectators thru the gates...if he aint smart enough to do improvements the records of attendence will show a prospective investor that there is a gold mind out there.

Richard take your big tire car out there on a sunday race....thats when he makes it sticky....for the people that have been representing the place since the get go...i quarrentee your times wont be off much from any other track you go to...if you go out on a saturday theres no telling how the prep was done...been that way for years...im trying to change that but it will take help and support....

the bracket program is what has paid the bills in the past...just kept the place a float....our 2 races there made the bracket crowds look pitiful...

our agreement was for him to improve the entrance road and return road...he bought equipment to repair that...remember the machine and roller pics...

I FOUND IT STRANGE TO BELIEVE THAT BY SEEING THE STUFF IN THE PICS OF THE STANG AND CANDY BELOW...

SO I VOWED TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE STORY...I CALLED THE OLD OWNER OF THE TRACK FOR HIS FEED BACK...

THE TRACK LIES IN THE MIDDLE OF OPEN FIEDS...WHEN FARMER PLOW DUST JUST SETTLES ON THE TRACK...ART COULD HAVE SWEEPT THE PLACE THE DAY BEFORE AND IF IT WAS WINDY THERE WAS GONNA HAVE DIRT ON THE TRACK AGAIN OVER NIGHT...

What is underneath the wearing course is what counts. La as well as other southern Mississippi River Valley states suffer from the same dilemna. All roads or in this case, dragstrips are built over existing ground consisting of montmorillonite clays. These materials have outstanding compressive strength when dry, buy outstandingly low compressive strengths when wet.
The Eunice facility is built over this stereotypical soil condition. It seems that an attempt at elevating it was done, but the material under it is predominantly a clay, that bad actor that shrinks and swells with moisture.
The "hole" that everybody speaks of is a result of the sub-base "failing" It is not going to be rectified by a simple 2" overlay. That would increase its structure number, but not enough. It would be a "band-aid" repair from a civil engineering view. Deeper overlays have much better structure numbers but it's very expensive to attain. You see, it's all the function of the dollar.
It would be cost prohibitive to undercut (say 2-3 ft) and haul in expensive embankment material (dirt that is low on the plasticity index) This however might be the best option "if" such embankment material even exists in this prairie area. I don't remember any non-plastic embankment existing in this locale as we've built highways in this area in the past.
Now let's talk about the cheap way. First, mill the existing asphaltic concrete (you call it blacktop) down to whatever depth, then overlay w/ the equivalent thickness mat of new asphaltic concrete. This costs big money folks. The closest asphalt lay-down operation would be Laddie James' outfit, Prairie Construction Co. They are located in Opelousas by the Yambilee Club, not more than 10 miles away. There are many hidden costs that the laymen doesn't realize. First, he'll have a mobilization charge (hauling of eqt), then the cost of the milling, by the sq yard or ton. Then the actual laydown.
Oh, it won't take him long to do. It's the timing, you see, that can make it costly. He would have to energize his plant costing several thousand dollars just to make the mix. The mobilization will run several thousand dollars and the laydown is expensive.
So what to do? Simply wait for a state funded project to happen somewhere close to the dragstrip. Then while they are actively working nearby, get him to quote a price for the milling and overlay. That's the most cost-effective way to get it done. With hwy 190 passing adjacent to the property, I recommend being patient. Before long the movement under the portland-cement concrete paving will warrant the DOTD to break it w/ hammers (to be used as a basecourse) and then overlay the broken concrete w/ (2) mats of hot-mixed asphaltic concrete; (1) binder course and (1) wearing course. As he, the contractor, is laying the wearing course, hire him to overlay the track.
Patience will get it done, not all of the crying and associated ill-informed "RANTS"
I really feel that if Art needs guidance, he'll contact me. But I am not going to tell another business owner how to run his business; This is simple courtesy & professionalism.
My "pulling of Jen's chain" is just my way of off-gassing the stress that my real job dictates. (he he he)

2.5 years ago is when i had the patch fixed at the 100ft or so mark....

talking to other track owners they speak of a process where they use some sort of lazer system to lay down asphaly egually...

if we can convince art to get the overlay done then promote races to put in a kitty to resurface the place in a certain time frame it might be worth it in the long run for all of us...

we gonna have to make the place better....art has put his name on the deed only to keep the place from being converted from a race track

The answer is "Yes." The hole can be fixed by first sawcutting w/ a pavement saw, excavating the existing asphalt and base course (if any exists), then go full depth asphalt (say 12") and the hole will go away. The tough part of the job is in the profile (smoothness). That is why you see a QC guy pushing this long aluminum appartus w/ bicycle wheels called a profilograph as hwy overlays are being conducted. It's a surface tolerance check, somewhat like placing a straightedge over a cylinder block to check for straightness. This quality checking apparatus is called the "California profilograph" and is a rolling straightedge.
You get what you pay for in an asphalt overlay job. These small contractors that you see with these small laydown machines have short wheelbases w/ no grade compensation devices. It would be like comparing a short wheel-base vehicle to a longer one. The longer vehicle will yield a better ride; same goes in laydown eqt. Big contractors have larger, more accurate eqt that gives the smoothness that racers would prefer. I'd suggest waiting like my aforementioned post inferred.
It can be done by your small guy laydown company, but you will invariably "get what you pay for." Will it be smooth enough? I don't know. I don't know how long the "hole" is. Personally, my longer wheelbase car drives through it and I barely feel it.
I don't think that your small guy laydown man can do it per a racer's perspective, but maybe. (The hole in question exists at a favorable area, a low speed section of the track. If you want to see the smoothness offered by a small laydown patch man, go ride out Main St in Pineville and turn onto Shamrock St as if you were going to Central Hospital, (Jen's house, de Ville de Foux,) and see for yourselves what a small guy laydown job rides like. Compare it to the recent, DOTD specced ride tolerance asphalt laydown , between the I-49/ hwy 71 interesection and LSUA. This is the difference. Judge for yourself. Maybe I'm being to picky, but have you ever asked a top notch body shop to give your ride a $500 paint job. They will probably just turn you down, not wanting to ruin their name.
If the Eunice track was mine, for the money involved, I would pull our life-saving ambulance aside, identify the hole, pop a stringline around it, sawcut this failing area w a pavement saw, remove it w/ a hyd excavator, dump this saturated crap in the pond, fill it full-depth asphalt (12"), roll it, let it cool for 36 hrs, then sweep the loose aggregate w/ a real rotary broom, one that has the ass to do the job; THEN tell Jen to bring that striped, freak-show car over 'cause as soon as I'm finished fixing the track, she is gonna get fixed next. I agree,::I had offered to help months ago ,and the offer still stands. but if We are going to do some work, there needs to be some sort of a plan, and no changes once a work day is started. We dont need 10 people going in 10 different directions.Most of the club are able bodied people and should be able to acomplish something if We do it as a team [CLUB] effort.We need to have a meating of the minds and decide what needs to be done but with in reason of our capabilities.

Our offer to help w/ the track still stands. But we need to know when ahead of time, not 1 day notice.
We need to know what eqpt. etc.. to bring w/ us when we do this cleaning or whatever.

And Eddie, you asked what would some of us had done if we were Art: well, if I had been busting my a-- trying to get it ready to run on, and it didn't look any better than that, I would've let the people know that they could just go somewhere else. I'd not made them stand around w/ their thumbs up their butts for a few hrs.

(1) If you and the forty other racers have something to tell the track owners, then tell "them", it's not necessary to attempt to defame a man's business over this hobbyist board.
(2) What the track owners decide to do with their track is up to them; that is their business decision; just like it would be your husband's decision to not build a steel bldg for somebody, for whatever reason. IE: If you don't like the conditions, then leave your hillbilly car at the house.
(3) Personally, I as well as others, used to frequent this particular track often. It has always been fine for my car while putting down low 10's. That same track hooked Andy's Camaro while he outran me. He ran in the 9's that day, skying the front, while in the relatively unprepped left lane.
(4) Furthermore, I've seen Bill Doucet out there experimenting with hardware much more serious than what we've got and running way faster than anybody I know without complaining about the conditions.
(5) Those guys, the track owners & attendants, though admittedly small in #, have always treated me as "family"
and sincerely cared when I damaged my own parts. You might enjoy the same treatment, if you could put a muffler on it.
(6) You are not old enough to know the history of this track and you are not in the "circle."
(7) When you complain, you are simply burning a bridge that need not be burned; there are only so many outlaw tracks that are lenient on tech.
(8) If you think that you can do a better job, I'm sure that the facility is for sale. Not much, maybe only a quarter million. Asphaltic concrete is inexpensive, you know.
(9) You guys have the DT's so bad that you were going to pull "somewhere" because you are alot like me in that you just enjoy the s%*% out of racing and you enjoy the comraderie of people that have the same interests that you have. (heck, I thought about going that rainy Saturday just to pick on you. (he he he)

By the way, Turbo Mike just called wanting to hook 'em up but I had to decline the offer. Damn, I hate that! I was right in the middle of drilling a hole in the passenger compartment for a transmission dipstick. Just not enough room now that the big pipes are in. Oh well! It was drizzling anyway.

the cause of jens "rant" as you cause it, stems from arts words that the track was ready to run on..now im sure that if the pot holes that were washed out would have been repatched and the asphault would have gotten the buildup of dirt sweept off of it that has been accoumilating since the storm came thur it would have been alot better...

i wasnt there but my brother was...the patch at the 100 ft mark has sunk again and nothin but rewireing and rehanging the boards have been done...u can see the grass thru the track in the pics of the two cars i have posted lower...

art told me he had everything runable....a lil paint on the stsaging lanes and a few boards here and there wont help nothing if he dont prep the track...i called him wednesday and told him to make sure to have scraped the track....a year of rubber still lays on the starting line

bill doucet and myself frequented the place alot with the beast...big red and my small tire stang...the reason why we hooked was because the track was prepped correctly and when our cars were there he knew others would come if we were there because of the grudge races that we would set up...if we wouldnt hook noone would come...well the beast is gone...the skunk is gone and now cars like yours mali...candy...insane wayne and many others in our group were the ones getting more racers to come...if these cars cant hook others wont either...

point blank he jumped the gun and he wont get others to frequent the place if he dont get it to bite again....

his choice of help isnt the best...mite be all he can find though...

i was the strongest promotor of the place the last many years...my deal with him was to get the place in better shape...until he steps it up i cant put my stamp on it...

he was dealt alot of bad luck grant it....but if a butchers freezer goes bad will the people by rotten meat just because of his bad luck?????

what gets me is after we had the madness series out there one thing the profits went to was a 1100 sweeper that seldom is being used...if hed spent 2 hrs tops prior to the opening he wouldnt have pissed off so many people....

jen is being jen....speaking her mind...and she has a valid gripe since we as a club was told it would be cleaned and scraped...we knew the buildings were still tore up but expected not to have a dity track/pit area

#1. Art can run his track however he wants to. I wasn't
interferring w/ that in the least bit. But if he wants

Yes, I agree that pavements don't last forever. But you don't have to cry about it. Go somewhere else that has nonoxidized asphaltic concrete; I suggest Hallsville. However, when everything is stirred in the pot, Eunice becomes attractive.
I'm sure that Art did not call you at your house to rave about the condition of the track. He doesn't owe you anything. Yes, it would have been a courteous gesture, but what other track offers this service?
You are defaming him and addressing him as a liar. Unless he contacted you, then he didn't lie to you.

My 2 cents:::: at 11:00 Art said no races, it is too wet and I was smart enough to go home.seems as though some members dont take no for an anser. I need to test My setup as bad as anybody else but another week or even 2 will not hurt, its been over 6 months sence I`ve been to a track and 2 things I know for a fact is that horse power and a wet track just dont mix.Maybe next time folks

Lab Mouse the track was dry for # 1 cars 12 second and above had no problems running on the track today so you should of hung around. The Cars that were below 12 seconds all were haveing problems. I am not stupid enough to run on a wet track and don't appreciate you impling that the we are. You left before we ran so don't talk your shit you were not there.

many cars went out to get a pass down the old track...

bryan c burnt the midnite oil to get candy ready but the rain didnt hold off...bryan was so determined to race i hear he went to hallsville...thats determination....the bigggg block stang was tagging with him....wille with the red 60? ford car and donnie with the 415 nova were both there to test new combos too....david bass had the lab mouse there also...my brother said he crossed many cars on the way to the track that also had hoped the rain would miss the track...art didnt try to dry the track because of the sun not looking like it wanted to come out....after 2pm it creeped threw the clouds and the racers that heald out dried off the track enough to make some passes in the right lane at 4pm.

after hearing of the cars that turned around and seeing the cars that showed up because of a chance of drying the track off art vowed to et the track over layed so that the low areas wont hold water any longer

after a 1 hour talk tonite he sends out his thanks of support and is very soory that motor nature has put the glee glee on him again

Which was STUPID. And, to top it off, $20 to run. It's just my opinion but I feel like Art and the Eunice staff owe Ronnie and his wife, a $20 refund, and AN APOLOGY!!!!
As far as that track being "ready", BS! (I apologize) but the only thing it's "ready" for another unfortunate accident to happen to it. Which is exactly wth will happen if somethings' not done to the (supposed to be) pavement.
For all you people who downed the possibilities of ever getting Forest Hill track up and running, I will tell ya, Forest Hill looked a hellova lot better than Eunice track did today. It's been down a year, and guess what???? They ain't done nothing! The way "our track" is right now, I think it's fair to ask that Art pay people to come drive on it- at the least.
To all the track supporters: Sorry if I step on any toes, but I (along w/ others)was really glad to see we have a track again FINALLY, and then after arriving, felt like we (as a club)got lied to by others, and felt like we got screwed. Half the cars there would've prolly hooked better by running thru the muddy grass, and prolly had a better chance of staying clean.
Now, I have it on video if anyone wishes to watch it. But as far as promoting that track the way it is, Mali ain't doin it!!! You shouldn't have mud on your fenders and grass on your tires after running down the pavement. The damn turn road is in better shape than the track is people.

I agree with jen till the track is overlayed and repaired I will not be back in Unice again I seen several cars almost bite the dust today and from lack of help no sweeping was done between cars and now a have pretty rock chips to go alone with the new paint job. Candy showed her ass today but I have found the problem and will be in Hallsville next weekend they said they miss the LA group and I miss the track I would rather go sit under shade trees that to stand in the hot sun.

all that was done was the getting the timing system up and going...the surface was said to be the same as it always was...no worse though....craig was there this am and did say the surface was holding alot of water compared to before.ankle deep near the tree area..i just passed on info as it was given to me...he better get his stuff together if the track is to survive...too many tracks coming around these days...i agree if people helped mop up water they intitled to getting there $ back....especially if they didnt get to run till 300...trying to reopen before doing the nessessary stuff mite put the nail in the coffin...

When I posted about how bad Eunice was, and when I laid the truth upon the table for everyone to know, I didn't just post wtf my thoughts on the situation was. eddie you haven't heard the whole story have you...from the racers point of view. we were gonna go to hallsville (AND WE SHOULD HAVE)but we all waited till 11:00 and art said he would let us know in 10 mins well 10mins went by and he never came up to us after he told me he would be down. two of our girls sweep the one side of the track then we got the ok to run up and down the track i ran down the track and came back (by the way nothing has been done to the track either)we all ran up and down to dry it off then paid $20dollars to race and that was 1:30 then they had to hook up the tree and then the board it was after 2:00 when we ran the track (which we will not run again till they do some major work on). eddie they did not put any track bite down in fact the track still looked the same i am sorry but they did not do much to eunice at all it looks about the same. it runs the same no one really could hook. i thought they worked on the track what just the tree and the board is that all the work they did it should have not been opened at all. thanks for letting us run but till they really make eunice a track i won't even run my little grocery getter there i will drive to hallsville or even evadale. it needs way to much work i am sorry to say there is no way you should do a trophy race there but that is your call but candy will not run that track till it is alot better we will all drive to texas and if you have a fast car i would not even run that track and try to spray wet or dry. but that is only my point of smack the truth!!!!

I don't think that I can fathom going to Eunice tomorrow (Sunday) either, being that they're going to have a bracket race (long yawn)and it's associated bracket racers congesting an already saturated parking area. There simply won't be enough time to baseline the car effectively.

It's been a good long while since I posted. Guess I'm overdue for a tech talk, too. That is if anyone is interested. I see my name has popped up a couple of times lately. The Big Chief is back together and ready to thump.
I am seriously tempted to go ahead and put it in the car and run it, but I gotta finish what I started on the dyno. All the rearend upgrades should be shipped by now, so I am getting closer. I'll be popping up at Unice soon. French hit the nail on the head. The cars gonna need som chassis tuning before the numbers get right on the timers. I'll have to say, I see a huge potential for some killer cars with all the changes and upgrades everyone is making. On another note, I know what you mean about the "Clash race" Jen. Them boys aint kiddin a bit. I also know what you mean about being a spectator. I can't stand to be one either. I gotta be in there having the same fun as the other racers. I hope to cash in on a little fun when the car finally gets together. Gotta get it right first. See yall later.

Smacks, I was speaking of your buddy "The She-Devil" and not you; unless you live in Leesville.
It's my idea to run my old buddy Mr. Bryan C. motor to motor. That should be an even match being that he souped his 454 up and mine is just plain bigger with upgraded valve springs atop some old generic Edelbrock heads that supposedly are on the bottom of the food chain.
Besides I've done quite a bit of revamping on my fuel curve, pump system, etc. so I'll probably be somewhat "in the dark" on the tune-up. So we may both leave the juice at the house for this time.
Turbo Mike, however, told me today that he REALLY wants another shot at Primer; so does Wayne. Personally, it doesn't matter to me whether Bryan & I hook 'em up. I know the capability of my hardware and won't push my components unless forced to. Beating Turbo Mike won't even begin to tax my internals but I don't know about a race between Turbo Mike and Primer. That WOULD be a good race but I'd probably bet on Bryan C. Big, Behemoth Motors on Nitrous, Baby!!! You Gotta Love 'Em!!!

A long time ago (1988), my sister beat my car when it was an IROC-Z, or maybe T? She had an 89 Vette ragtop and beat my Z at the Erwinville track, in spite of me giving the Z a chip, filter, regulator, and a set of 4.56's out back. Ohh, the shame!
However, that phenomenon hasn't occurred as of late.
In other news, I spoke to the Insane One and he says, "Me and Mike are stuck on ready and we don't have to wait for Saturday" I say to that, "Hmmmm, ready the dust-pans, mops, brooms, and oil absorbent. It's going to be one hell of a mess!!!!!!!!!!!"
Guess what though? I'M STUCK ON READY TOO. Big Nasty and her electronic fuel injection won't go down without a fight and I don't care "how much more" dope he's going to abuse his rotating assembly with; it won't be enough to take that 3850 lb pump gas street car out. Maybe Jen will be able to strike a good deal at the scrap yard for his efforts.

When I bought that powerglide in the junkyard, I thought I saw your deceased, windowed 468 big block lying in the rain adjacent to a Waste Management Dumpster. I just don't know why they didn't throw it in... maybe an environmental issue? The Car that everyone refered to as Primer is now Candy I just brought it back from the paint shop to try to install the new motor to play this weekend it will be on Motor only at UNICE I will not have time to tune or work the bugs out of the new powerplant so NOS is out and so are the challenges but maybe the weekend after we will see what Candy has to offer.

X will be there this Saturday if all goes well w/ the new fuel pump controller (haven't tried it yet)
Stopped by the Insane One's house yesterday and he says he's going to be in Eunice this Saturday to tend to X; but he really want's some of Primer. That whooping must still be giving him aches. He claims that he, as I, have been laying in the cut waiting for the best offer.
Stopped by Turbo Mike's and he says that he still wants to bet the big $ on the street. SS-747 vs X. He'll get that, maybe this weekend. He claims that his new Vette will be the one to beat in the near future. I have my doubts.
But Andy's rig is the one that will be exciting to watch as he struggles w/ traction; I think. Maybe he'll be ready this weekend.
If X doesn't run in the 9's on motor this weekend w/ small tires, no converter, no trans-brake, electronic injection and 3.70 gears, while running PUMP GAS at a race weight of 3850 lbs, I'll be disappointed. Without the parachute installed, I may elect to save the giggle gas for another time. So there you have it hillbilly Jen. This is the news. What will you have to say next? Oh, and the motor is still ruined!

needless to say: IT WAS AWESOME, AND YOU SHOULD'VE BEEN THERE! We were kinda expecting to see "No Show" run considering all the tech. advice he dished out on other boards about it... but I told Jamie "he ain't got the balls to show up and run w/ the big boyz". lmao and I was correct.
Well, it was absolutely intense. Words can't describe it at all. We loved it, but hated that we weren't able to compete. But you can bet your ass that we will make all the Clash events next year.

I think you should keep your "bouncing basketball" b/c (in my opinion) I think "x"(lax)would really disappoint you if you were to try to show up to run in the clash on you lil ole 10.5 tires. I'm pretty sure you could run xlax in the CHEAP STREET CLASS, but due to it being a rat motor, you would get your butt spanked by a small block. I only say this b/c you would be in the same predicament that we are in, considering the weight of your car.
Mali is too streetable to run in the class that we'd like to run in, and not "race car enough" to run in the other!
As far as spending time making it faster since Hallsville, We're all glad to hear it, Lord knows you needed to do SOMETHING W/ XLAX! You brag about high 9's, but I hope you can do more than that by now, surely u jest!!! And, while your bragging about that 9 sec. pass on N20, what did u run on motor???? That's what I thought! The #'s just aren't as strong are they?

I would like for our members to show their interest in local racing taking place soon, just to show a little moral support for the work being done at the track. Judging by the apparent piston dome volume of the infamous Bozo the Clown 468, two questions leaves me baffled. What service station sold you the "pump gas" which it was street-driven on? I need to get some of that stuff.
The second question is, "What new vehicle is that scrap heap going to be reassembled and mounted in?"... maybe a utility trailer enroute Alexandria Iron & Supply?

We normally get Chevron gas 93 octane when cruising around up town, however, we have been guilty of using race gas a few times, but you know how it is, when u only got an 8 gal. tank, it don't take long before u drain it. lol
As far as the next vehicle: That particular motor ain't goin in shit. ha ha ha But there will be a 468 going in a car that belongs to me. No need for you to start "trippin" right now, it'll be a lil while before it comes after you!!!!
As far as the motor's concerned, we really could care less that we blew it up. We had no intentions of keeping that motor in it. We just played around to see how far we could push the lil ole rat. Even though Jamie did an excellent job at bending that rod like he did, the car made an awesome accomplishment since we've had it. And for a motor that has cast crank and stock bottom end to take the amt. of n20 that it's taken for that period of time to push a 3500 lb. car, we are damn proud. We've knocked off 4 seconds since last July, can u say that???

It's just another of those "wanna-be" street cars wearing tractor tires but it is indeed lighter, 60's are harder, and posesses the noisy rattles (earplugs optional eqt) inherent of "tin-can" race cars.
I'm considering selling it 'cause it's pointless to have a useless "automobile" like this; If you can't drive it, then why have it?
Which underscores my original argument; Real street cars wear tires that fit under factory wheelwells and are street-driven.
TRUE 10.5" tires are the only ones to have that remotely resemble real street tires. Speaking of more absurdity, How about the guys calling these 10.5W's street tires? These things are over 33" in diameter. Try installing that in a factory wheelwell. "Look how fast we go on a 10.5," they relish. Ask your friendly, neighborhood state trooper what he thinks... I've already had the pleasure, thanks.
So maybe not the Batmobile, but definitely a "Get Busted Mobile" (big old bouncing basketball p.o.s.) I'll do my street-driving w/ my old trusted "X" on 28.0/ 11.5/ 15's and race w/ them too.

TEAM MALI WENT TO EUNICE FOR THE FIRST TIME RAN A SHOCKING 12.46 BEST ET FOR FIRST TIME OUT...

BRYAN C...AKA PRIMER... WAS THERE AND HELPED JAMIE WITH SOME SUGGESTIONS AND INTRODUCED THEM TO OUR LIL PART OF THE INTERNET.TEAM MALI WAS SO PUMPED UP TO BE A PART OF OUR LIL PART OF THE INTERNET HAS HAS PARTICIPATED IN ANY AND EVERY EVENT WEVE HAD NO MATTER WHAT

NOW THIS WAS IN THE AUGUST-LATE SEPTEMBER TIME FRAME AND AFTER DISCUSSING A FEW THINGS BRYAN AND JAMIE DECIDED TO SEE WHAT WAS IN THE MOTOR AND FRESHEN IT UP SINCE THE MOTOR HAD BEEN TOGETHER FOR 15 PLUS YEARS IN CRUISING FORM..

JAMIE FRESHENED THE MOTOR AND TOOK THE CAR TO SCOTT CAROL IN MONROE TO LOOK OVER THE CHASSIS AND GET IT TUNED FOR SOME RACING NOT JUST SOME CRUISING

JAMIE/JEN BURNED THE MIDNITE OIL TO GET THE CAR READY FOR OUR CLUB RACE IN OCTOBER BUT THAT BITCH LILY CAME THRU DISAPOINTING THEM...THEY TESTED AND TUNED THE FRESHENED MOTOR AND DIPPED IN THE MID 11S WITH JUST FINE TUNING THE MOTOR...FUEL SYSTEM...AND CHASSIS

WELL AFTER LOOKING AROUND I FOUND THEM A DEAL ON A FOGGER AND A SET OF SQUARE PORT HEADS TO STEP UP THERE PROGRAM A LIL....DECEMBER IN HALLSVILLE WAS THE DEBUT OF OUTLAW..OUR YELLOW 80 MALIBU...

JEN AND I TALKED AND SAID LETS TRY TO PUMP UP THE CLUBS RACE AND TALK SOME SMACK BETWEEN US TO GET SOME ATTENTION FLOWING...WE TALK SO MUCH SHIT BETWEEN US ON THIS BOARD OVER OUR HOG HEAD CHEESE SANDWICH BET..
WELL ON THAT DATE WE HAD TRANNY AND CARB TROUBLES AND IF WE DIDNT WE WOULD HAVE BEEN HOOKED....THEY HAD DONE STEPPED IT UP...PUT THE SQUARE PORT HEADS AND THE FOGGER ON THE CAR FOR THE RACE WITH US...MALI WENT A MID 10S THAT DAY

JANUARY COMES AROUND THEY HAVE THE RACE WITH THE GTO....MALI HAD BEEN MID TENS ON MOTOR BUT NEVER GOT A GOOD N2O PASS...RAN THE GTO...BREAKS OUR LIL CLUBS RECORD WITH A 980 PASS POPPING AND SPITTING

APRILS RACE IN EVADALE MALI SHUCKED THE DRIVE SHAFT....TORE UP A BUNCH OF STUFF....SCOTT CAROL FIXED WHAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED DID A GEAR SWAP AND THE BITCH CAME TO LIFE FROM WHERE SHE STARTED OUT IN THE PREVIOUS FALL...

THIS IS RELEASED TO ME FROM JAMIE TODAY

THE 468'S BEST ET ON THE SPRAY WAS A 9.30 CONFURMED BY MY SOURCE AT THE TRACK.

IN THIS PART OF THE NET THATS DAMN FAST....3400 LB BIG TIRE STREET LEGAL CAR...I WISHED I COULD HAVE SEEN WHAT SHE WOULD HAVE RUN ON SOME 10.5WS

PEOPLE SAY JEN TALKS AND CAR LOOKS LIKE IT RUNS 7'S..THAT MITE BE MY FAULT IN PART...WHEN TEAM MALI AND I MET I TOLD THM WE NEEDED SOMEONE TO TALK SMACK TO KEEP IT ALIVE...SHE SAID SHE COULD HANDLE THAT AND SHE DID...NO DOUBT..

POINT OF THIS STORY IS TEAM MALI FRESHENED MOTOR IN AND MADE FIRST PASS IN OCTOBER ON THAT MOTOR...

THEY WENT FROM 12.46-9.30 WITH JUST MATCHING THE HEADS.. INTAKE... CONVERTOR...GEARS WITH THE SHORT BLOCK THAT WAS THERE...OH AND ADDING THE JUICE TOO OF COURSE...

IN GENERAL THEY FIXED THE COMBINATION THAT WAS NEVER RIGHT AND DID IT IN 6 MTHS TIME...HATS OFF TO YALL

Well it was HOT!!!!!!! and Mali eat itself, But it sure was nice to go and be with such a good group of people, Got to finly meet the world renound Jen and hubby Jamie [good folk] Seems like the Stang is gonna be a real player. And you can count on Mali coming back stronger than ever. Thanks to Jerry and Yancy for the lil tune 4-10s and 4-mph in 5 mins not bad. Anyway had a good time and thats a good track and track crew.
But the day still was incomplete because I sure was hoping for a autograph, But the Pro did not show?

Jamie made a great motor pass. Mali's still packing the front on motor. Jamie upped the pill and Mali couldn't handle it. There's a HELLACIOUS difference in launching at 300 shot, and a 350 shot!!!! (warning: it hurts) lol
The oil pan looks like it had a grenade thrown at it, big holes in both sides of it.
Mali will be down for about 2 months, but the 468 will come back out and make it's debut in something else....

Donnie, sorry I haven't read the board until now. Had I known that u wanted to run me, I'd slapped the heads back on and brought my car and ran you with a broke motor. lol
But, Brian F. has 1st chance to run me for my spot, so I gotta beat him first, then I'll beat you. ha ha ha

As far as ladies running, glad to see Amy there, didn't see Donnie's wife make a pass, but maybe next time.
