Here's what I found in Major Fox's book for Nha Trang-- it fits what you described and asked for.

On 2 AUG 1965 (No Time Reported. Do you call the hour?), Nha Trang AB received a Stand Off attack of 7 Rounds. No Casualties nor Aircraft loss/damage is listed.

Using the Search Box, I find no stories or photos listed for the attack. I you will write a description of what you recall, and have any photos during or after, I will post it. And finally, it will be accounted for.

Am I mistaken about you serving at Da Nang AB also?
