My mother's house sounds about like yours except she only has 1 bathroom and her house is appraised at $90,000. Nice middle-class neighborhood - almost no crime. She lives 8 minutes from my house. The same house on my street would sell for around $125,000 because I'm a block from the Bay, not much crime on MY street because we are diligent about keeping watch. Go over one block to the Bay and the price jumps to $250,000-$500,000, depending on the house, and crime is rampant - drug dealers, "ladies of the evening" strolling the street day and night. So you can buy a half a million dollar house and fight with the thugs or you can live on my stret for around $125,000 and sleep safely at night.
