Help Me Debate Angels --
Anonymous, 10:40:49 03/01/23 Wed [1]
Come, Spirit,
make me docile to your voice.
Help me debate angels.
Let your will be done in me
even if it means
misunderstanding,
rejection,
scandal.
Give me wisdom to find you
in the irrational:
heavens gone awry,
astrologers’ predictions,
songs in the night.
Give me such hospitality of heart that
family,
foreign seers,
poor shepherds and animals
find a home in my presence.
Let me protect innocent children from
oppressive power.
Make me fearless of foreign lands and
unknown journeys.
When I cannot find you
do not let me rest until I search
home,
highway,
and temple.
Let me always insist on miracles to
celebrate love.
And when all I love on earth
lies lifeless in my arms
let me offer it to you with such freedom
of heart
that I am swept up into the heavens.
Amen.

Baha'i Prayers - `Abdu'l-bahá ~ for Glenn --
Anonymous, 20:19:02 02/22/23 Wed [1]
He is the Compassionate, the All-Bountiful!
O God, my God!
Thou seest me, Thou knowest me;
Thou art my Haven and my Refuge.
None have I sought nor any will I seek save Thee;
no path have I trodden nor any will I tread
but the path of Thy love.
In the darksome night of despair,
my eye turneth expectant and full of hope
to the morn of Thy boundless favor
and at the hour of dawn my drooping soul is refreshed
an strengthened in remembrance of Thy beauty and perfection.
He whom the grace of Thy mercy aideth,
though he be but a drop,
shall become the boundless ocean,
and the merest atom which
the outpouring of Thy loving-kindness assisteth,
shall shine even as the radiant star.
Shelter under Thy protection, O Thou Spirit of purity,
Thou Whom art the All-Bountiful Provider,
this enthralled, enkindled servant of Thine.
Aid him in this world of being
to remain steadfast and firm in Thy love
and grant that this broken-winged bird
attain a refuge and shelter in Thy divine nest
that abideth upon the celestial tree.

Prayer for the World ~ Jane Goodall --
Anonymous, 20:16:53 02/22/23 Wed [1]
We pray to the great Spiritual Power in which
we live and move and have our being.
We pray that we may at all times
keep our minds open to new ideas and shun dogma;
that we may grow in our understanding of the nature of all living beings
and our connectedness with the natural world;
that we may become ever more filled with
generosity of spirit and true compassion and love for all life;
that we may strive to heal the hurts that we have inflicted on nature
and control our greed for material things, knowing that
our actions are harming our natural world and the future of our children;
that we may value each and every human being
for who he is, for who she is,
reaching to the spirit that is within,
knowing the power of each individual to change the world.
We pray for social justice,
for the alleviation of the crippling poverty
that condemns millions of people around the world
to lives of misery - hungry, sick, and utterly without hope.
We pray for the children who are starving,
who are condemned to homelessness, slave labor, and prostitution,
and especially for those forced to fight, to kill and torture
even members of their own family.
We pray for the victims of violence and war,
for those wounded in body and for those wounded in mind.
We pray for the multitudes of refugees, forced from their homes to alien places
through war or through the utter destruction of their environment.
We pray for suffering animals everywhere,
for an end to the pain caused by scientific experimentation,
intensive farming, fur farming, shooting, trapping,
training for entertainment, abusive pet owners,
and all other forms of exploitation
such as overloading and overworking pack animals,
bull fighting, badger baiting, dog and cock fighting and so many more.
We pray for an end to cruelty,
whether to humans or other animals,
for an end to bullying, and torture in all its forms.
We pray that we may learn the peace that comes with forgiving
and the strength we gain in loving;
that we may learn to take nothing for granted in this life;
that we may learn to see and understand with our hearts;
that we may learn to rejoice in our being.
We pray for these things with humility;
We pray because of the hope that is within us,
and because of a faith in the ultimate triumph of the human spirit;
We pray because of our love for Creation, and because of our trust in God.
We pray, above all, for peace throughout the world.
prayer for world peace - dr. jane goodall

PARTNER RETURN LOST LOVE SPELL --
Anonymous (Qamil zeka), 14:09:05 11/21/19 Thu [1]
I am a great spiritual healer in Africa, also known around the world. I helped thousands of people with all sorts of problems. I helped them to find love, to bring back lost love, to build relationships, to improve the quality of intimacy, to save marriages, to create wealth, to heal souls and bodies, to protect oneself from black magic, envy and evil forces to improve their fortunes to help people find new jobs and careers to progress on the jobs they already have to improve their studies and more. I reach more people over the Internet who really need my help than you.
As the most recognized African medium, God is gifted and known for his competence and efficiency. Experts in all occult affairs, even in the most desperate cases. Do you have the feeling that everything is wrong in your life? Do not hesitate to call it the most acclimated African medium.
I help solve different life situations. The most common areas of our work are relationships / love issues, so the love magic outweighs. Then healing and, of course, elimination of curses, cleansing and expulsion of negative entities. I also do fortune-telling and related advice.
A customer sees that the problematic situation has changed. He becomes healthier in healing magic, for example, in protective magic he is not disturbed by negative entities at night. In the magic of money, for example, he earns more money or his business grows. In the case of love magic, the customer meets successfully with the desired partner. Love magic from our side ends the moment they go out together and / or sleep together. Only then does our work and responsibility end. Visible results? You have to be there! That means we work to the visible result. Our question is not whether it will come, but when it will come. In some cases the results are visible after one week, in other cases we have to work for a year or more.
With magically lost love spells, I can bring your ex-husband back to you if you still love her and want to go back. Even if they have remarried, my lost love will bring them back and they will love you again. Why should you be lonely when there is someone out there who has a strong connection to true love? Bring back your ex-wife, did you realize how much your wife loved you after your divorce? Maybe you even applied for the divorce yourself. Do you regret that your sweetheart is now your ex-wife? Let my lost love spell for the man bring back his ex-wife. They work fast to bring back their love and even repair things that lead to a happy remarriage.

Love Spells To Keep Your Partner Loving all the time
Wiccan binding love spells have been around for generations
When you are in love with someone, but they seem not to be interested in you. It is as though you are forcing yourself on them. Would like to make him start having better feelings for you today? The Wiccan binding love spells are a great help when it comes to generating new and intense feelings or revival of the already dead feelings. If you know that your partner still feels things for you, it will always be easier to enhance those feelings using this Wiccan binding love spells.
Effective Wiccan binding love spells to revive lost feelings
Has your relationship gone into a state of inertia? Has your partner totally lost all feelings for you? It is time you bound the love of your partner using a powerful spell that works. A binding love spell can be a very drastic ritual and there are situations that require it. The moment you cast this spell, your partner will start feeling all those emotions that were lost by time and routine. Your love will be taken back to those times when you had just started the relationship.
Love spell to make your lover have new feelings
A Wiccan binding love spell generates new feelings that were based on emotions already lost. Your partner will have the feeling he had for you in the past. It is a very powerful spell and can crush the feelings that existed prior to the spell. Make sure your partner does not feel anything at all because he could lose his previous emotions. If you are currently lost in thought because you can’t imagine being rejected, use this Wiccan binding love spells.
This is the time to make your man start feeling for you
Sometimes, there are men who seem not to feel anything, but in their hearts, their feelings are still alive. When two people come and join each other in a relationship, their union is sealed and cemented from the astral. These two are bound to be together for eternity. However, demons and evil spirits can sometimes want to ruin such relationships. That is why you find people fighting each other and later separating. With this Wiccan binding love spells, you can rid of negativity and ensure that your man loves you forever.

In the house made of dawn.
In the story made of dawn.
On the trail of dawn.
O, Talking God.
His feet, my feet, restore.
His limbs, my limbs, restore.
His body, my body, restore.
His voice, my voice, restore.
His plumes, my plumes, restore.
With beauty before him, with beauty before me.
With beauty behind him, with beauty behind me.
With beauty above him, with beauty above me.
With beauty below him, with beauty below me.
With beauty around him, with beauty around me.
With pollen beautiful in his voice,

INVOCATION -- Anonymous, 11:43:26 05/07/15 Thu [1]
In the cracked and barren wastes
that always must be passed through
to reach the Promised Land,
we invoke you, we call to you:
Light of Darkness, Solace of Light,
Moon which guides us, Sun which blesses us,
Giver of Life, we beseech you.
In this land without sustenance
we give thanks that you are the fruit
which nourishes and sustains us.
In this land without shade
we give thanks that you are the shade
which shelters and cools us.
Through your grace we discover
that this waste land bears its own seeds of liberation
before even the Promised Land is reached;
before even the taste of the old land left far behind
with its towers and temples, its fields and vineyards,
its giving wells of water, has faded from our memory.
We invoke you, Blessed One
of the songs and laughter of our children’s games
as they played in the fields,
of the smiles of our elders
who once watched them playing
and whose smiles remain in our hearts
even though they themselves are faded into air.
In the desert of emancipation we call on you, Blessed Shekinah.
Give your breath to the breathless ones
who feel that they cannot journey farther.
Grant your sanctuary to those people
who are forced to leave their homes,
who are fleeing with their children
to seek refuge in tents and shelters.
Give your blessings to those people
and enfold them in your compassionate light,
give them their own voice once more
give them the power to sing
give them the power to believe that they can do so.
We pray for all people who are captive and long for release,
who are suffering through their race,
through abuse, or through violation,
or through social or religious customs
which deny them their voice, and even their very humanity.
We commend all these people to your grace, Blessed Shekinah,
may they find solace in the shadow of your shining wings.

Prayers for Nobi -- Anonymous, 21:09:27 12/22/14 Mon [1]
Please pray for a young man with his whole life before him. That he may freely, without any interference, partake of all the wonders of this life, and realize his fullest potential. To watch sunrises and sunsets, to love and be loved, to have his cup filled with happiness. To have only challenges that make him grow, and none that are hindrances or that are in vain.
"I am every living being
fearing nothing loving all
I am part of living breathing
heart wide open feeling all
grateful living being loving
all my life I'm one and all
Sky above me Earth below me
flying swirling through the all
seeds of love are growing in me
all of nature blooms along
grace and joy I am unfolding
grateful for my chance to grow"

Prayer of St. Francis -- Anonymous (In the spirit of all that matters), 20:04:51 12/18/14 Thu [1]
Lord, make me a channel of thy peace,
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong,
I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to
comfort than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.

Hope and Miracles -- Anonymous, 14:54:47 09/20/14 Sat [1]
A God becomes Child to save the children,
Shepherds chant with the tongue of Angels,
Salvation is described in a Mystery,
Heaven and Earth mingle into one Soul this night.
Prophecy is the point of a Star.
Cherubim bow with the neck of Shepherds.
A cave becomes the Gate of the Universe
While kings search for the bed of a Beggar.
A Maiden becomes the Mother of Grace;
Life has been given another Life.
The Child reaches out, takes hold of the world
And smiles the Innocent Smile.
In this Miracle all miracles are born -
The blind receive sight and the deaf have song,
The cold and homeless have shelter
And pilgrims cease their wanderings.
In this Creation all creation is born
And all creatures have a voice.
We find ourselves kneeling alongside the Magi.
The Child turns, looks and recognizes.

A Disciple's Mantra -- Anonymous, 10:39:22 09/20/14 Sat [1]
I am a point of light within a greater Light.
I am a strand of loving energy within the stream of Love divine.
I am a point of sacrificial Fire, focused within the fiery Will of God.
And thus I stand
I am a way by which men may achieve.
I am a source of strength, enabling them to stand.
I am a beam of light, shining upon their way.
And thus I stand.
And standing thus, revolve
And tread this way the ways of men,
And know the ways of God.
And thus I stand.

Two Teachers -- Anonymous, 10:43:18 09/19/14 Fri [1]
Two Hindu teachers were walking along a river and heard a call for
help. One started removing his clothing to rescue the drowning man.
The other said, "Don't do that, you'll interfere with his Karma." The
first ignored him, saved the man, and then replied, "Apparently it was
his Karma to be saved." Some people use the idea of Karma as an excuse
to not help their fellows, but the brotherhood of man can be achieved
only by people who know I am my brother's keeper.

MY FAVORITE QUOTE OUTSIDE OF THE BIBLE -- Anonymous (http://www.tentmaker.org/), 11:05:12 12/25/09 Fri [1]
MY FAVORITE QUOTE OUTSIDE OF THE BIBLE
“God’s purposes are so vast and glorious, beyond all guessing now, that when they are achieved and consummated, all our sufferings and sorrows of today, even the agonies that nearly break our faith, the disasters that well nigh overwhelm us, shall, seen from that fair country where God’s age long dreams come true, bulk as little as bulk now the pieces of a broken toy upon a nursery floor, over which, thinking that all our little world was in ruins, we cried ourselves to sleep.”

"The Crucifiction" -- Anonymous, 20:56:29 04/06/07 Fri [1]
At Christmas we celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ. On Easter we will celebrated the reason He was born: to be crucified for our sins,a formal atonement for the sins of mankind and the reconciliation to God,His father,to man. This was Jesus's purpose; based on His unselfish love for His brothers and sisters as expressed in the Holy Bible. We know He succeeded as He arose from the dead and ascended into heaven. As a result of His suffering and dying on the cross we get a chance to return to God's heavenly kingdom by obeying God's Commandments. As one person to another,or brother to brother,or brother to sister please give thanks to Jesus not only on Easter but by keeping Jesus in your heart and soul. The only way you can do that is by loving Jesus,obeying and loving God Jesus's father and last, but not least,Jesus's and your brothers and sisters. God Bless!

That Loving Feeling -- Anonymous, 22:03:43 01/04/06 Wed [1]
That loving feeling can lift you higher than you have ever been lifted before as many songs have stated. It is also quite true of literature writings,famous and not so famous. A book I recently read, entitled "Green Mansions", did just that. Kindly read the following quote from it and soar to those lofty heights. "You are you, and I am I --why is it?--the question asked when our souls were near together, like two raindrops side by side, drawing irresistibly near, ever nearer: for now they had touched and were not two, but one inseparable drop, crystallized beyond change, not to be disintegrated by time, not shattered by death's blow nor resolved by any alchemy." This book and many others have much to offer: humor,fun,spiritual enlightenment,thought provoking questions and answers. So, check out a book or two or more, when you get a chance at your local library. If they don't have the book you want they may get it for you from another libary. In most cases it is free. If you find something worth sharing, please post it here on this web site as it is as much yours as mine. Happy reading!

Our Father of the Sacred Abyss of nothingness -- Anonymous, 19:43:02 09/03/05 Sat [1]
My Father:
You are my existence-
All is of you-
You are All Love-
You Are Heaven-
Sacred is thy name-
Only the Spirit of my soul can recognize and hear it-
Father from the Sacred Abyss of Nothingness-
You have given me Life and a Will of Freedom with your Divine Breath-
I Celebrate You in Life-
I work daily to align my actions with Love-
Father: I, am your chalice-
Fill me with Love and guide me to where it is needed-
Release me from the bondage of self-
Remove my ways that have been corrupted by the sins of wrath-
I shall overcome my Worldly difficulties with:
Your Love-
The teachings of Yeshua-
May your Holy Spirit saturate every corner of my life-
For I shall be a witness to my brothers and Sisters-
To the Beautiful Daughter and Son-
You brought to life through me and their Mother-
As we were though our Mothers and Fathers-
And they throuigh their's-
As all have been given life, Ions past-
I shall be a witness to the Beauty-
The Glory and power of Thy Love-
Bless me this day, as I walk forth-
May my Soul harvest the wheat of truth-
From the Teachings of Your Word made Flesh, Yeshua-
Forgive me father for my ignorance and sins-
As I forgive those who tresspass against me-
Lead me not into, but from temptation-
Indeed I, am Blessed by you-
You have increased my territory-
Your Hand is by my side-
To protect me from evil-
To prevent me from causing pain-
All is of Thee-
I, am of thee-
I, am thy Son-
May I fullfill my heritage, and become a Son of thy Light-
May Your Divine Light Shine out and upon you-
As it is in my Brother-
Yeshua Your Son-
May I become fully Human-
May I become Compassion-
Before I complete my Spiritual Journey-
Durring this Physical Life-
Grateful am I, to disrobe the animal within-
In Loving myself and all that is present in this Life-
I, am one with-
I Love You.
Your Son Michael.

Tomorrow Never Comes -- Anonymous, 00:58:32 11/09/03 Sun [1]
Please allow me to share a beautiful and inspirational poem with you. "Tomorrow Never Comes" by Norma Cornett Marek. If I knew it would be the last time, That I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly, And pray the Lord your soul to keep. If I knew it would be the last time, That I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and a kiss, And call you back for just one more. If I knew it would be the last time, I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,I would tape each word and action,And play them back throughout my days. If I knew it would be the last time,I would spare an extra minute or two To stop and say, "I love you," Instead of assuming you know I do. So just in case tomorrow never comes,And today is all I get,I'd like to say how much I love you And I hope we never will forget. Tomorrow is not promised to any one,Young or old alike, And today may be the last chance, You get to hold your loved one tight. So if yor"re waiating for tomorrow, Why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, You"ll surely regret the day That you didn't take that extra time, For a smile, a hug or a kiss, And you were too busy to grant someone What turned out to be their one last wish. So hold your loved one close today, And whisper in their ear, Tell them you love them very much, and You'll always hold them dear. Take time to say, "I'm sorry," Please forgie me," "thank you," or "It's Ok." And if tomorrow never comes, You'll have not regrets about today.

I demand in Your Name Jesus Christ that any woman, man or spirit that causes Sharon and Rudi Mol to suffer and be apart from thier blessed union and marriage, be cast from our marriage and our lives and placed at Your feet dear Jesus, for Your judgement. And I ask You to place joy and optimism in my heart dear Jesus and place this in Rudi's heart too and allow me to hear his love for me, once again. Help me to smile in my heart, believe that You know everything and are already healing the wounds that Rudi and I carry and help me trust in the return of my husband, because that is what God wants. Thank You Heavenly Father, for even the little I know of Jesus, please increase my faith and joy, at knowing and trusting Your Beloved Son Jesus Christ. Amen: Mrs. Sharon Mol

PRAYERS -- Anonymous, 22:32:56 04/29/03 Tue [1]
"Prayer was the cornerstone of Jesus' life. He showed the
great power that was generated in faith-filled prayer-the power to accomplish miracles.
I,too,make prayer the cornerstone of my life. I pray for myself and I pray for others. I pray that everyone I know and even those I don't know are open to God's inspiration and guidance.
My prayers are prayers of faith. Because they are imbued with the power of God,they reach out to bless the ones I
love. I know without a doubt that my affirmations of health and peace and abundance are making a positive difference in my loved ones' lives and in my own life.
Each prayer I pray --whether for myself or another-is a message of love from my heart." (Daily Word) 1999

The Gift of Christmas -- Anonymous, 21:51:10 12/25/02 Wed [1]
Glory to God in the highest. Peace and good will to all mankind. For God loved the world so very much that he sent His only son to redeem the world in order for each and everyone one of us that followed His commandments to share eternal,everlasting life with Him in heaven. Most of us have heard these words before,some for the first time; but not for the last time. With every Christmas these words are repeated. Let us renew our faith during this time to be deserving of His gifts to us. Let us work together and give each other the strength to achieve our holy promised destiny. May His love,grace,mercy,spirit shine upon you each and every day of the year, and throughout your entire life. Let us pray that we may be worthy of all He has in store for us and give thanks for all He has given us. Amen.

Helping Prevent Child Abuse -- Anonymous, 22:07:59 10/20/02 Sun [1]
Somethings we can not change,some things we can. One of the things we can is child abuse. It seems that every time we watch news on television,listen to the radio or read the newspaper there is a story about a young child,both boys and girls that have been abused,exploited and have had terrible things happen to them,mentally and physically.This includes even murder and torture. With a desire to help and do something worthwhile,please allow me to quote the late and famous Ann Landers:" In the first few months of this year,the media shed light on a number of cases of child abuse. How can we prevent these tragedies from happening? Nearly three-quarters of Americans report having witnessed abuse and neglect,yet nearly half of them did nothing about it,largely because they did not know how to respond. That is why Prevent Child Abuse America has launched a public-service advertising campaign,"A Child is Helpless - You Are Not." This campaign educates the public about what people can do to prevent child abuse and neglect before it starts. We recommend the following: Reach out and support parents and kids. Anything you can do,from baby-sitting to running errands,can help reduce the stress that often leads to abuse. Raise the issue by educating yourself and others in you community. Remember the risk factor,such as economic hardship,isolation or substance abuse problems. Recognize the warning signs in children,which may include nervousness around adults,aggression or low self-esteem. Report suspected abuse or neglect. Readers can find more ways to prevent child abuse and neglect by accessing out website, www.preventchildabuse.org, or by calling 1-800-children (1-800-244-5373). Together,we can help stop the abuse of our nation's children." Thank you for listening to this message and for your help in carrying the message out.

I Am a Miracle -- Anonymous, 21:10:10 10/14/02 Mon [2]
I am a miracle because God,my Creator,is the creator of miracles. Only God knows me better than I know myself. So if I ever get down on myself, thinking I am less than I should be, I remember that I am one of God's creations. God, the creator of miracles,created me. What better proof could I have of being a miracle? I am unique,so I don't judge my looks or intelligence against those of other people. We are all unique! True, I may not be the best musician or artist in the world, but I have my own skills and abilities that enable me to be creative in my own special ways. I am a miracle! I have a body that heals and renews itself. I have a mind that is continually active and expanding. I have a capacity to love that is unlimited. Yes, I am a miracle, and I acknowledge all others as God's miracles too. From THE DAILY WORD

What Will Happen... -- Anonymous, 08:29:45 09/11/02 Wed [1]
"If you pass your night
and merge it with dawn
for the sake of heart
what do you think will happen
if the entire world
is covered with the blossoms
you have labored to plant
what do you think will happen
if the elixir of life
that has been hidden in the dark
fills the desert and towns
what do you think will happen
if because of
your generosity and love
a few humans find their lives
what do you think will happen
if you pour an entire jar
filled with joyous wine
on the head of those already drunk
what do you think will happen
go my friend
bestow your love
even on your enemies
if you touch their hearts
what do you think will happen?"

Rainbows shine
Their yours, their mine
Sunshine rains, in every vein
I run so fast I fly......
Then sail on moonlight beams, through endless skies......
Toward God's loving soul, reflected in the sky
I reach , I grasp the heavens, present and the past
My soul now contains, both fire and rain
For now, with peace and joy,contentment soars
I can live forever more................................

IT IS THAT MOMENT that divides the intoxicaion of Life
from the awakening. It is the first flame that lights up the
inner domain of the heart. It is the first magic note plucked on the silver string of the heart. It is that brief moment that unfolds before the soul the chronicles of time, and reveals to the eyes the deeds of the night, and the works of conscience. It opens Eternity's secrects of the future. It is the seed cast by Ishtaar, goddess of Love, and sown by the eyes of the beloved in the field of Love, brought forth by affection, and reaped by the Soul.
The first glance from the eyes of the beloved is like the spirit that moved upon the face of the waters, giving birth to heaven and earth, when the Lord spoke and said, "Let there be." - KAHLIL GIBRAN

We are awaiting the lab reports. We just ask that you pray for the healing

ahead of him. Jesus says anything we ask in His name: He will do. So I am
asking that we all pray in Jesus' name that "Hey Dude" is healed.

We give thanks to this day -- Anonymous, 09:19:15 07/16/02 Tue [1]
"All of our lives we wait for something wonderful to happen, for our moment when all of our hopes and inspirations are stirred with the blessing of a better tomorrow. We hope for some kind of miracle, a "requiem" to our spirit that makes all past trials worthwhile and that makes the future a beacon of light.
Something wonderful, a miracle, has happened; it was by no less effort of the universe to produce a nebula as to bring you forth. You have been born: what fortune and what a miracle. You've nothing to prove. Your greatest work is done. Love and shine. There is nothing you can do that is greater than what the divine has done. You are the reciever, take care of your gifts."
~Anon
For the expanding grandeur of Creation,
worlds known and unknown,
galaxies beyond galaxies,
filling us with awe and challenging our imaginations:
We give thanks this day.
For this fragile planet earth,
its times and tides, its sunsets and seasons:
We give thanks this day.
For the joy of human life,
its wonders and surprises, its hopes and achievements:
We give thanks this day.
For our human community,
our common past and future hope,
our oneness transcending all separation,
our capacity to work for peace and justice in the midst of hostility and oppression:
We give thanks this day.
For high hopes and noble causes, for faith without fanaticism,
for understanding of views not shared:
We give thanks this day.
For all who have labored and suffered for a fairer world,
who have lived so that others might live in dignity and freedom:
We give thanks this day.
For human liberty and sacred rites;
for opportunities to change and grow, to affirm and choose:
We give thanks this day.
We pray that we may live not by our fears but by our hopes,
not by our words but by our deeds.
we give thanks this day - o. eugene pickett

SONG OF THE SOUL -- Anonymous, 08:34:12 07/13/02 Sat [2]
In the DEPTH of my soul there is
A wordless song - a song that lives
In the seed of my heart.
It refuses to melt with ink on
Parchment; it engulfs my affection
In a transparent cloak and flows,
But not upon my lips.
How can I sigh it? I fear it may
Mingle with earthly ether;
To whom shall I sing it? It dwells
In the house of my soul, in fear of
Harsh ears.
When I look into my inner eyes
I see the shadow of its shadow;
When I touch my fingertips
I feel its vibrations.
The deeds of my hands heed its
Presence as a lake must reflect
The glittering stars; my tears
Reveal it, as bright drops of dew
Reveal the secret of a withering rose.
It is a song composed by contemplation,
And published by silence
And shunned by clamour,
And folded by truth
And repeated by dreams,
And understood by love,
And hidden by awakening,
And sung by the soul.
It is the song of love;
What Cain or Esau could sing it?
It is more fragrant than jasmine;
What voice could enslave it?
It is heartbound, as a virgin's secret;
What string could quiver it?
Who dares unite the roar of the sea
And the singing of the nightingale?
Who dares compare the shrieking tempest
To the sigh of an infant?
Who dares speak aloud the words
Intended for the heart to speak?
What human dares sing in voice
The song of God?

The Desiderata -- Anonymous, 08:12:59 07/06/02 Sat [3]
The Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble,
it's a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

With You From The Beginning -- Anonymous, 20:44:29 06/26/02 Wed [1]
Hear the words of the Star Goddess,
the dust of whose feet are the hosts of heaven,
whose body encircles the universe:
I who am the beauty of the green earth and the white moon
among the stars and the mysteries of the waters,
I call upon your soul to arise and come unto me.
For I am the soul of nature that gives life to the universe.
From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return.
Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices,
for behold-- all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals.
Let there be beauty and strength,
power and compassion,
honor and humility,
mirth and reverence within you.
And you who seek to know Me,
know that your seeking and yearning will avail you not,
unless you know the Mystery:
for if that which you seek,
you find not within yourself,
you will never find it without.
For behold, I have been there with you from the beginning,
and I am that which is attained at the end of desire.

This Song Of Mine Will Wind Its Music Around You -- Anonymous, 20:04:31 06/24/02 Mon [1]
This song of mine will wind its music around you,
my child, like the fond arms of love.
The song of mine will touch your forehead
like a kiss of blessing.
When you are alone it will sit by your side and
whisper in your ear, when you are in the crowd
it will fence you about with aloofness.
My song will be like a pair of wings to your dreams,
it will transport your heart to the verge of the unknown.
It will be like the faithful star overhead
when dark night is over your road.
My song will sit in the pupils of your eyes,
and will carry your sight into the heart of things.
And when my voice is silenced in death,
my song will speak in your living heart.

Lord of My Life -- Anonymous, 20:00:59 06/24/02 Mon [1]
Lord of My Life
Thou who art the innermost Spirit of my being,
art thou pleased, Lord of my Life?
For I give to thee my cup filled with all
the pain and delight that the crushed
grapes of my heart had surrendered,
I wove with rhythm of colors and song cover for thy bed,
And with the molten gold of my desires
I fashioned playthings for thy passing hours.
I know not why thou chosest me for thy partner,
Lord of my life.
Didst thou store my days and nights,
my deeds and dreams for the alchemy of thy art,
and string in the chain of thy music my songs of autumn and spring,
and gather the flowers from my mature moments for thy crown?
I see thine eyes gazing at the dark of my heart,
Lord of my life,
I wonder if my failure and wrongs are forgiven.
For many were my days without service
and nights of forgetfulness; futile were the flowers
that faded in the shade not offered to thee.
Often the tied strings of my lute slackened
at the strains of thy tunes.
And often at the ruin of wasted hours
my desolate evenings were filled with tears.
But have my days come to their end at last,
Lord of my life, while my arms round thee
grow limp, my kisses losing their truth?
Then break up the meeting of this languid day!*
Renew the old in me in fresh forms of delight;
and let the wedding come once again in
a new ceremony of life.

Sutta Nipata -- Anonymous, 07:46:20 06/22/02 Sat [1]
May all beings be filled with joy and peace.
May all beings everywhere,
The strong and the weak,
The great and the small,
The mean and the powerful,
The short and the long,
the subtle and the gross:
May all beings everywhere,
Seen and unseen,
Dwelling far off or nearby,
Being or waiting to become:
May all be filled with lasting joy.
Let no one deceive another,
Let no one anywhere despise another,
Let no one out of anger or resentment
Wish suffering on anyone at all.
Just as a mother with her own life
Protects her child, her only child, from harm,
So within yourself let grow
A boundless love for all creatures.
Let your love flow outward through the universe,
To its height, its depth, its broad extent,
A limitless love, without hatred or enmity.
Then as you stand or walk,
Sit or lie down,
As long as you are awake,
Strive for this with a one-pointed mind;
Your life will bring heaven to earth.

A New Route Home That Night -- Anonymous, 20:21:02 06/19/02 Wed [1]
"God has a way of allowing us to be in the right place
at the right time.
I was walking down a dimly lit street late one evening
when I heard muffled screams coming from behind a clump
of bushes. Alarmed, I slowed down to listen and
panicked when I realized that what I was hearing were
the unmistakable sounds of a struggle, heavy grunting,
frantic scuffling and tearing of fabric. Only yards from
where I stood , a woman was being attacked.
Should I get involved?
I was frightened for my own safety and cursed myself for
having suddenly decided to take a new route home that
night. What if I became another statistic? Shouldn't I
just run to the nearest phone and call the police?
Although it seemed an eternity, the deliberations in my
head had taken only seconds, but already the cries were
growing weaker. I knew I had to act fast. How could I
walk away from this? No, I finally resolved, I could
not turn my back on the fate of this unknown woman,
even if it meant risking my own life.
I am not a brave man, nor am I athletic. I don't know
where I found the moral courage and physical strength -
but once I had finally resolved to help the girl, I
became strangely transformed.
I ran behind the bushes and pulled the assailant off
the woman. Grappling, we fell to the ground, where we
wrestled for a few minutes until the attacker jumped
up and escaped.
Panting hard, I scrambled upright and approached the
girl, who was crouched behind a tree, sobbing. In the
darkness, I could barely see her outline, but I could
certainly sense her trembling shock.
Not wanting to frighten her further, I at first spoke
to her from a distance. "It's OK," I said soothingly.
"The man ran away. You're safe now."
There was a long pause and then I heard the words,
uttered in wonder, in amazement. "Dad, is that you?"
And then, from behind the tree, stepped my youngest
daughter, Katherine."

Kahlil Gibran's Thoughts on Nature -- Anonymous, 21:00:20 06/18/02 Tue [1]
"All things in this creation exist within you, and all things in you exist in creation; there is no border between you and the closest things, and there is no distance between you and the farthest things, and all things, from the lowest to the loftiest, from the smallest to the greatest, are within you as equal things. In one atom are found all the elements of the earth; in one motion of the mind are found the motions of all the laws of existence; in one drop of water are found the secrets of all the endless oceans; in one aspect of you are found all the aspects of existence."

To Become In One Flawless Moment -- Anonymous, 20:30:39 06/18/02 Tue [1]
The magic of love binds the soul to the forces of heaven and earth, the bond that unites all things alive and well.
You dwell in the prism of light that shines from the heart of the universe, blind to the eye who sees only the temporary.
Recall the past before time touched your memory when you knew the connectedness of your being to that of its Maker and its twin, itself, one being.
This is pure desire, to become in one flawless moment, an individual in the nature of all things. The promise of what we are is not forgotten, it is written in our longing and passion. You are the Star, my God, my Blessed One, Who guides my slow steps to the stairway to heaven.
Then, in my time, may it be that You open my eyes once again to see You and, in this Love, perfect and divine, the only fulfillment of this exalted child, your son, your daughter, the jewel of Your heart, meet in the canyons of the stars.
I love like this grand music that sings in my heart and my skin. With Your Love let me light the rest of my days. God help me love You as You love me that I may love the world.

The Strongest Hand Is Gentleness -- Anonymous, 20:12:43 06/18/02 Tue [1]
I have three precious things which I hold fast and prize.
The first is gentleness; the second is frugality; the third is
humility, which keeps me from putting myself before others.
Be gentle, and you can be bold; be frugal, and you can be
liberal;
avoid putting yourself before others, and you can become a
leader of men.
Gentleness brings victory to him who attacks, and safety to him
who defends.
Those whom Heaven would save, it fences round with rich gentleness.

"High Flight" -- Anonymous, 21:53:50 06/17/02 Mon [1]
Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the trembling mirth
Of sun-split clouds -- and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of -- wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
Where never lark, or even eagle, flew;
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Poems of Love For Fathers -- Anonymous, 09:56:49 06/16/02 Sun [1]
Constant
"The star that lit my life, shining bright.
Shining still in my heart.
The years have led me here,
weathered with maturity and responsibilities,
and I see more clearly now.
The hardships, burdens of love,
and all the sacrifices he made for me.
Grown up, I see differently now...
A new perspective of a man I have always known.
My heart is full, my emotions overpowering
just in the certainty of that bond.
He's been there for me through all the conflicts
helping me over the rough, ragged stones of growing up.
My respect for him is unending,
faith is unbound, and love is unquestioning.
Even in the midst of all my imperfections, he is lenient,
ignoring the pitfalls, the downfalls, the shortcomings,
he just accepted me as I was, as I am.
The sheer purity of it leaves me awe-struck
and it lifts me up, it holds my head a little higher,
it keeps me in balance,harmonizing with the world around me
beautifully, like an inspired masterpiece from the soul
of an honest man.
I am honored to know him, to love him, to be of him.
He's my hero, and I am his daughter.
-Poem by Christine McNamara
For You I Feel An Overwhelming Love
"For you I feel an overwhelming love,
All the more because you're far away.
Though all the continents of Earth may move,
Here is my love, and here my love will stay.
Each time I feel my fortune go adrift,
Realities like rocks poised in my way,
'Ere I feel that fearful, shuddering rift,
Some memory of you holds them at bay.
Dad, your love can still my heart uplift;
After all these years, my spirits sway;
Your strength and courage still my fears remove."

The Beauty of His Hand
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad

The Seven Sacred Prayers -- Anonymous, 16:07:49 06/15/02 Sat [1]
O Great Spirit, who art before all else and who dwells in every object, in every person and in every place, we cry unto Thee. We summon Thee from the far places into our present awareness.
O Great Spirit of the North, who gives wings to the waters of the air and rolls the thick snowstorm before Thee, Who covers the Earth with a sparkling crystal carpet above whose deep tranquillity every sound is beautiful. Temper us with strength to withstand the biting blizzards, yet make us thankful for the beauty which follows and lies deep over the warm Earth in its wake.
O Great Spirit of the East, the land of the rising Sun, Who holds in Your right hand the years of our lives and in Your left the opportunities of each day. Brace us that we may not neglect our gifts nor lose in laziness the hopes of each day and the hopes of each year.
O Great Spirit of the South, whose warm breath of compassion melts the ice that gathers round our hearts, whose fragrance speaks of distant springs and summer days, dissolve our fears, melt our hatreds, kindle our love into flames of true and living realities. Teach us that he who is truly strong is also kind, he who is wise tempers justice with mercy, he who is truly brave matches courage with compassion.
O Great Spirit of the West, the land of the setting Sun, with Your soaring mountains and free, wide rolling prairies, bless us with knowledge of the peace which follows purity of striving and the freedom which follows like a flowing robe in the winds of a well-disciplined life. Teach us that the end is better than the beginning and that the setting sun glorifies not in vain.
O Great Spirit of the heavens, in the day's infinite blue and amid the countless stars of the night season, remind us that you are vast, that you are beautiful and majestic beyond all of our knowing or telling, but also that you are no further from us than the tilting upwards of our heads and the raising of our eyes.
O Great Spirit of Mother Earth beneath our feet, Germinator of seeds and the Storer of the Earth's unreckoned resources, help us to give thanks unceasingly for Your present bounty.
O Great Spirit of our souls, burning in our heart's yearning and in our innermost aspirations, speak to us now and always so that we may be aware of the greatness and goodness of Your gift of life and be worthy of this priceless privilege of living."

Self-Love -- Anonymous, 16:03:20 06/15/02 Sat [1]
"What is often overlooked is the importance of loving yourself along with everything else. After all, aren't you a part of the whole of Life? There's a wonderful Japanese poem - a haiku - which cleverly illustrates this. It goes, "My horse clip-clopping through the field. Aha! I am part of the picture!" As you grow to realize that you are an integral part of Life's grand picture, it becomes clear that loving yourself along with everything else is part of the deal.
Some of you may feel uncomfortable with the idea of self love, because it's often interpreted as being overly self involved. Many religions teach that total selflessness is the ideal, and that self love is the antithesis of being selfless. I'm not at all knocking selflessness, but is self love really opposed to selflessness? And is it the same as being too self involved? What actually is self love?"
This article contains some beautifully written passages about the true essence and expression of self-Love, which is actually an embrace of thanks to the Divine for the gift of life and the heart's joy of living, in disguise. Self-Love is utterly unrelated to egotism, which is sometimes an eggshell to encompass insecurity (and sometimes just ignorance, either way, one that is no joy to walk on); it is more related to optimism. How can a person allow themselves to be pervaded with the fullness of joy in being alive without the happiness of the gift of who they are given to be.
There are exercises in the article to foster self-Love. But even if some of the suggestions are good, perhaps they aren't really necessary. For an exercise in self Love, enjoy the day. Let the sunshine be your spirit. Let your everyday world be its own haiku in self-Love, and then let it be the loving rays that warmly extend to everyone around you.
"Our Sacred Marriage" by Kenneth Kalb
"I feel the sacred earth between my toes connecting me to this miraculous planet. I breathe the gift of vibrant prana. I feel the warmth of the life giving Sun kissing my face. I see the birds dancing on the limbs embracing the nectar of flowers. I feel the devas chuckling and fluttering in my ethers. I am humbled in the knowing of the delicate relationships and balances of nature which support all life forms. I am honored to be a conscious part of the One Great heart, a divine marriage with our Creator. I am a child of the stars, a flash of the source of which we are all a part. I know I will always live. Through my self love, I am granted access to all love."

This is a companion piece to the United Nations' International Day of Peace, observed each September. The piece was created in commemoration of the new millenium.
An interesting fact about the International Day of Peace:
'In 1981, the General Assembly declared that the third Tuesday of September, the opening day of the regular session of the G.A. each year, "shall be officially dedicated and observed as the International Day of Peace and shall be devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples" (G.A. Resolution 36/67).'
It is an unfortunate and sad irony that this day of World Peace is always celebrated on a Tuesday in September. May the brave acts of those who protect us from brutal and senseless attacks of violence and who embrace freedom for the innocent so completely that it may still be there to embrace us in return, be remembered reverently as "devotions and commemorations of strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples."

Divine Spring, Scatterer of the Clouds -- Anonymous, 20:46:08 06/13/02 Thu [1]
"Inspirer of my mind, consoler of my heart, healer of my spirit,
Thy presence lifteth me from earth to heaven;
Thy words flow as the sacred river;
Thy thought riseth as a divine spring;
Thy tender feelings waken sympathy in my heart.
Beloved Teacher, thy very being is forgiveness.
The clouds of doubt and fear are scattered by thy piercing glance;
All ignorance vanishes in thy illuminating presence;
A new hope is born in my heart by breathing thy peaceful atmosphere.
O inspiring Guide through life's puzzling ways,
In thee I feel abundance of blessing.
Amen."

Touched By The Light By Peggy Lumpkin -- Anonymous, 20:30:12 06/13/02 Thu [1]
"Probably no documented phenomenon is so pervasive and life-altering as the white light experience. People who go through it tend to categorize the white light vision as religious or mystic, while scientists offer evidence that it is the reproducible effect of stimulating certain areas of the brain with electricity. Does the science behind the phenomenon negate its spiritual validity?"

Hands, A Dance of Kindness: A Story -- Anonymous, 20:28:23 06/13/02 Thu [9]
Hands, A Dance of Kindness
"Once when I moved to a remote town, the power went off during a winter storm. By candlelight I turned pages of a magazine showing Christmas scenes. I closed the magazine and realized what I wanted for Christmas was a friend to share the spirit of it. I sent out a long prayer by candlelight in the storm and went to sleep.
The next day, 28 miles away where I worked, I started a friendly conversation with a woman in a nearby department. She too was travelling all of that way from the same remote town. We began carpooling. We usually said prayers together on our long drives. She confided in me she'd prayed for someone like me in her life.
Our friendship began in quiet and leisurely times. Long, enriching talks, juice and children, shared prayers and a deep friendship warmed and lit our moments. Life was perfect. Had we had more money, and lived in more complex homes in more crowded places, had we not been in a position to enjoy the simplest and loveliest things in a place most people reverently called, "God's country," we would have been poorer. A family vacation to see tourist sights, a cruise, days sunning on the beach, all would have dimished the loveliness of picnic lunches with birds singing and children's messy faces, and Sunday mornings together in church.
Somehow, following that time, one tragedy after the other befell our famillies. A close friend's husband was killed in a terrible accident. Her second child was born with autism. Troubles in our marriages unsettled our steady and peaceful world, unlikely dramas unfolded we never imagined we would have to deal with. Her marriage survived, mine didn't. She even moved far away to become a missionary, her dreams shattered by a corrupt mission that only strove to use her. She returned.
Her voice always seemed to find wisdom for me, and mine for her. Our lives were like a pilgrimage undertaken separately, but together. By the time 9/11 occured, I was far from home on my own pilgrimage to fight personal oppression - stalking and harrassment - from my former spouse. We rarely spoke or got together. When we did, often I would be stalked there.
I have asked myself many times how the divine would have permitted the events of 9/11 or the unlikely events that disrupted our lives in such unexpected ways. I have often marvelled at the extraodinary heroicism of the rescuers and helpers who came and offered strength and mercy in their hands to strangers suffering unwittingly in the horrible tragedy of 9/11. They were the hands that happened to be at hand.
Some of us will live out our lives without the opportunity to be heroes, or so we might think. We may not recognize the little ways in which we can be heroes to those whom our lives touch. When personal tragedies ruffle our lives unexpectedly, after we have dusted ourselves off, we look back and see that there was a fire that needed tending, in which we played a part. Helping hands are mutual, they connect, they uplift and pull each other to a standing position, they join and survive together.
So then, the question of "why me?" or "why them?" becomes in action, "why not me, why not them." When you wonder why the divine does not give you a life of prosaic and perfect ease, look beside you and you will see either someone who needs your hand to pull them up. Or if you look up, perhaps to seek the divine, you might find in its place a hand reaching out to you, to pull you up. Then you will see that you have found the divine, an a very imperfect world, there in the fire, paradise, the one you thought was lost forever.
If you find your hands throughout your life connected in acts of lifting up and being uplifted, consider yourself as having been richly blessed. You will find yourself on both sides of the continuum at one time or another. Never reject an opportunity to be the lifter or the uplifted. When hands connect, both aspects are fulfilled equally, mutually, they become one and the same."

The Writer's Prayer -- Anonymous, 16:10:47 06/11/02 Tue [1]
Awaken To a new dawn,
I stretch to Infinity and reach Beyond the Stars,
In an instant I return,
filling every tissue, sinew, with Joy,
I feed the nectar of life, into each molecule and cell,
The mind and body embrace Divine love
Through the eye of time I see eternity,
Life in life shine bright,
Shine the torch of majestic light,
Find the path to my universal frame,
So I may bask in the wisdom of pure potential,
Guide my hand to write your words.

You are the place to hide from harm
You are the light that shines in dark
You are the heart's eternal spark
You are the door that's open wide
You are the guest who waits inside
You are the stranger at the door
You are the calling of the poor
You are my Lord and with me from ill

Animals Teach Us About Spirituality -- Anonymous, 21:31:27 06/09/02 Sun [1]
"Animals fully reveal to us what we already glimpse: it is feeling -- and the organization of feeling -- that forms the core of self. We also sense that through our relationship to animals we can recover that which is true within us and, through the discovery of that truth, find our spiritual direction. Quite simply, animals teach us about love: how to love, how to enjoy being loved, how loving itself is an activity that generates more love, radiating out and encompassing an ever larger circle of others. Animals propel us into an "economy of abundance."
They teach us the language of the spirit. Through our contact with animals we can learn to overcome the limits imposed by difference; we can reach beyond the walls we have erected between the mundane and the sacred. They can even help us stretch ourselves to discover new frontiers of consciousness. Animals cannot "talk" to us, but they can communicate with us and commune with us in a language that does not require words. They help us understand that words might even stand in the way."

Divine Air, Divine Fire -- Anonymous, 21:26:51 06/09/02 Sun [1]
"Soul of our souls, Spirit of our spirits,
And the One embracing All,
Divine One, of infinite names and none:
Powers of East, South, West and North,
And all who weave the Universe:
I call to you, within and without -
This night, this rite.
Divine Air - bring imagination and creativity to the world.
Like the far-seeing hawk,
May we see this situation as the whole
complete tapestry that it is,
And be in-spired with fresh and virgin weavings.
Like the unfettered winds,
May we be freed from old assumptions
and patterns in how we respond,
And breath in new possibilities.
Divine Fire - bring clarity
and compassionate passion to the world.
Like the bright light of the Sun,
May we see clearly the way-forward
of "what is necessary" for all life,
And the time to come.
Like the transforming flames,
May our grief, fear and rage
be transformed into compassion for all.
Divine Water - bring yielding and wisdom to the world.
Like the gentle erosion of water upon stone,
May we release our biases.
Like the deepening twilight upon the earth,
May we remember the lessons of the past,
And contemplate their meaning for the future.
Divine Earth - bring greening and surety to the world.
Like the stretching branches of the tree,
May we stretch ourselves
Into the life-affirming paths
of reconciliation and healing.
Like the deep peaceful dome of night,
May we stand firm in the Goddess and the God,
Through this 'dark night' of confusion and fear,
and false 'stars'.
May our souls be strong, steady and revealing.
May our spirits be en-lightened, faithful and sure.
May our choices be wise and enduring,
for the generations to come.
By all that is Sacred and True,
So Mote It Be.

Ocean And Sky -- Anonymous, 21:40:50 06/08/02 Sat [1]
Carl Jung was one among many, perhaps borrowing from poets, who deemed the sea to be the perfect archetype of emotion: that its fluidity, depth and tides were in harmony with the endless prisms of feeling. The sky, then, is a quiet reminder of the spirit. Ocean would seem to overcome the sky in its dynamism, weight and power. Or does it? The sea is small next to the endlessness of the sky and the galaxies it cradles in its arms. Its true proportion, and all it contains overwhelms the sea by an expanse beyond measure, although all we often see are the weightless clouds drifting by like dreaming, shapeshifting angels at the tips of our vision.
Ethereal, unassuming and light, there is nothing that can overcome or overpower the spirit. And still, both are catchers of light, rays are diamonds in the horizons of a stirred surface; warmed to peace and ecstacy, and starlight casts its brilliant gaze to eternity, its sight never ceasing long after its source fades. Like starlight, the spirit's shore is forever itself.

Contentment -- Anonymous, 21:05:13 06/07/02 Fri [2]
Contentment
This magic moment is enough.
This experience of living,
this sitting here breathing
in the flowing elements
The fire of the sun illuminating
the water of the sea rippling
the earth of the sand
standing still beneath me
the air of the wind breezing through
the open windows of my soul.
I am fully content to watch their play
connected to the eternal silence
at the center of being
through this tapestry of love
And although the path before me is
strewn with suffering,
I embrace it wholeheartedly,
For they are One.

Divine Practicality -- Anonymous, 20:27:25 06/06/02 Thu [1]
"God is nothing other than the Divinity that is deep inside each one of us, waiting to be discovered and revealed. We may also refer to God as the Inner Pilot or the Supreme. But no matter which term we use, we mean the Highest within us, that which is the ultimate goal of our spiritual quest.
A spiritual person should be a normal person, a sound person. In order to reach God, a spiritual person has to be divinely practical in his day-to-day activities. In divine practicality, we share our inner wealth. We feel the divine motivation behind each action and share the result with others. Spirituality does not negate the outer life. The outer life should be the manifestation of the divine life within us."

Blithe As The Air -- Anonymous, 20:20:03 06/06/02 Thu [1]
O GIFT of God! O perfect day :
Whereon shall no man work, but play ;
Whereon it is enough for me,
Not to be doing, but to be!
Through every fibre of my brain,
Through every nerve, through every vein,
I feel the electric thrill, the touch
Of life, that seems almost too much.
I hear the wind among the trees
Playing celestial symphonies ;
I see the branches downward bent,
Like keys of some great instrument.
And over me unrolls on high
The splendid scenery of the sky,
Where through a sapphire sea the sun
Sails like a golden galleon.
Towards yonder cloud-land in the West,
Towards yonder Islands of the Blest,
Whose steep sierra far uplifts
Its craggy summits white with drifts.
Blow, winds! and waft through all the rooms
The snow-flakes of the cherry-blooms!
Blow, winds! and bend within my reach
The fiery blossoms of the peach!
O Life and Love! O happy throng
Of thoughts, whose only speech is song!
O heart of man! canst thou not be
Blithe as the air is, and as free?

From Everlasting -- Anonymous, 20:17:50 06/05/02 Wed [1]
The Lord of Life possessed me
in the beginning of his way,
before his works of old.
I was set up from everlasting,
From the beginning,
Or ever the earth was.
When there were no depths, I was brought forth;
When there were no fountains abounding with water.
Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills was I brought forth:
While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields,
Nor the highest parts of the dust of the world.
When he prepared the heavens, I was there:
When he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
When he established the clouds above:
When he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
When he gave to the sea his decree,
That the waters should not pass his commandment:
When he appointed the foundations of the earth:
Then I was by him,
As one brought up with him:
And I was daily his delight,
Rejoicing always before him ;
Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth;
And my delights were with the sons of men.
~Proverbs 8:22-31

The Quality of Mercy -- Anonymous, 20:19:24 06/03/02 Mon [3]
"The quality of mercy is not strain'd
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: It is twice bless'd;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest; it becomes
The crowned monarch better than his crown;
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway,
It is enthroned in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself,
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice."

Your Hearts Know In Silence -- Anonymous, 20:54:35 05/31/02 Fri [1]
And a man said, Speak to us of Self-Knowledge.
And he answered, saying:
Your hearts know in silence the secrets of the days and the nights.
But your ears thirst for the sound of your heart's knowledge.
You would know in words that
which you have always known in thought.
You would touch with your fingers the naked body of your dreams.
And it is well you should.
The hidden well-spring of your soul must needs
rise and run murmuring to the sea;
And the treasure of your infinite depths
would be revealed to your eyes.
But let there be no scales to weigh your unknown treasure;
And seek not the depths of your knowledge
with staff or sounding line.
For self is a sea boundless and measureless.
Say not, "I have found the truth"
but rather, "I have found a truth."
Say not, "I have found the path of the soul."
Say rather, "I have met the soul walking upon my path."
For the soul walks upon all paths.
The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed.
The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.

Prayer for Relief of Oppression -- Anonymous, 20:09:52 05/28/02 Tue [1]
"O God, we pray for all those in our world
who are suffering from injustice:
For those who are discriminated against
because of their race, color or religion;
For those imprisoned
for working for the relief of oppression;
For those who are hounded
for speaking the inconvenient truth;
For those tempted to violence
as a cry against overwhelming hardship;
For those deprived of reasonable health and education;
For those suffering from hunger and famine;
For those too weak to help themselves
and who have no one else to help them;
For the unemployed who cry out
for work but do not find it.
We pray for anyone of our acquaintance
who is personally affected by injustice.
Forgive us, Lord, if we unwittingly share in the conditions
or in a system that perpetuates injustice.
Show us how we can serve your children
and make your love practical by washing their feet."

The Art of Awareness -- Anonymous, 20:38:04 05/27/02 Mon [1]
The Art of Awareness:
"Thoreau wrote: Only that day dawns to which we are awake. The art of awareness is the art of learning how to wake up to the eternal miracle of life with its limitless possibilities.
IT IS rising to the challenge of the stirring old hymn: Awake my soul, stretch every nerve.
IT IS developing the deep sensitivity through which you may suffer and know tragedy, and die a little, but through which you will also experience the grandeur of human life.
IT IS identifying yourself with the hopes, dreams, fears and longings of others, that you may understand them and help them.
IT IS learning to interpret the thoughts, feelings and moods of others through their words, tones, inflections, facial expressions and movements.
IT IS keeping mentally alert to all that goes on around you; it is being curious, observant, imaginative that you may build an ever increasing fund of knowledge of the universe.
IT IS striving to stretch the range of the eye and ear; it is taking the time to look and listen and comprehend.
IT IS searching for beauty everywhere, in a flower, a mountain, a machine, a sonnet and a symphony.
IT IS knowing wonder, awe and humility in the face of life's unexplained mysteries.
IT IS discovering the mystic power of the silence and coming to know the secret inner voice of intuition.
IT IS avoiding blind spots in considering problems and situations; it is striving to see life steadily and see it whole.
IT IS enlarging the scope of your life through the expansion of your personality.
IT IS through a growing awareness that you stock and enrich your memory...and as a great philosopher has said: A man thinks with his memory."

A Song You Hear / Your Hearts Know In Silence / How Generous Earth -- Anonymous, 20:58:53 05/25/02 Sat [1]
"All these things have you said of Beauty
Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of needs unsatisfied
And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.
It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth,
But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted.
It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear,
But rather an image you see though you close your eyes
and a song you hear though you shut your ears."
"Your hearts know in silence the secrets
of the days and nights;
But your ears thirst for the sound of
your hearts knowledge.
You would know in words that which
you have always known in thought.
You would touch with your fingers the
naked body of your dreams."
"How generous you are, Earth,
and how strong is your yearning for your children
lost between that which they have attained and that
which they could not obtain.
We clamor and you smile; we flit but you stay!
We extract your elements to make cannons and bombs,
but out of our elements you create lilies and roses."

The First Prayer -- Anonymous, 20:38:40 05/25/02 Sat [1]
If you could travel back through time, to the moment the First Prayer was spoken, what do you think it would be?
Would it be a short and earnest call for the granting of a simple mercy, or even the chirp of an ancient bird calling out for protection of its young?
Some calling of the heart, perhaps more powerful than the most brilliant poetry, in its reach and connection with the divine. Imagine the birthplace of faith, which, in all likelihood, our faiths and traditions are the daughters and granddaughters of.
If you could also travel through time to the moment of the first answered prayer, what do you think it would be? How could it be possible for prayer to sustain as a commonality of all generations, ancient and contemporary, all with vastly different beliefs about the world, if not for the confirmation, the validation of an answer, the abiding sense of divine conversance.
The beauty of prayer, is that the chrysalis of a night's prayer, is the butterfly of the morning's faith.

Sightless Vision -- Anonymous, 20:39:24 05/24/02 Fri [1]
If tomorrow I were to lose my sight…
I would drink in the sunlight shining through the trees.
I would cast my eyes upon your hair blowing in the breeze.
I would bathe myself in
all that is wonder and beauty,
I would gaze endlessly at your Face,
and chant Your Name.
If tomorrow I were to lose my hearing…
I would listen to thy song a thousand times.
And inscribe the sweetness of your voice
in my Heart and in my mind.
I would listen in full surrender
to the birds in the early morn.
And with Hindu chants in the forest
my ears adorn.
If tomorrow I were to lose my breath…
I would breathe with Thou
all night long
I would sing with Thou
a special song
I would dance with Thou
surrender to Thy lead
And I would pass over in Love
for I would have all that I need.

Since I First Heard The Footsteps of My Soul -- Anonymous, 21:17:50 05/23/02 Thu [1]
"The face of all the world is changed, I think,
Since first I heard the footsteps of thy soul
Move still, oh, still, beside me, as they stole
Betwixt me and the dreadful outer brink
Of obvious death, where I, who thought to sink,
Was caught up into love, and taught the whole
Of life in a new rhythm. The cup of dole
God gave for baptism, I am fain to drink,
And praise its sweetness, Sweet, with thee anear.
The names of country, heaven, are changed away
For where thou art or shalt be, there or here;
And this . . . this lute and song . . . loved yesterday,
(The singing angels know) are only dear
Because thy name moves right in what they say."

Loving Kindness Meditiation for Children -- Anonymous, 21:04:14 05/23/02 Thu [1]
"May all beings of all kinds, in all directions be happy and at peace.
Above and below, near and far, high and low.
All types of beings. Human and non-humans.
Seen and unseen.
All the animals and birds, and fishes.
All beings and creatures, with no exceptions.
May they all be happy.
May they be free."
In the lovely simplicity of a young child's voice, (who sometimes can tell truth more poignantly than adults :-) It stands as a meaningful and pertinent prayer for adults too.

Without the eyes... -- Anonymous, 20:32:28 05/21/02 Tue [1]
Without the eyes - two clouds - the lightning of the heart:
The fire of God's threat, how could it be allayed?
How would the herbage grow of union, sweet to taste?
How would the fountains all gush forth with water pure?
How would the rosebed tell its secret to the meadow?
How would the violet make contracts with jasmine?
How would the plane tree lift its hands in prayer, say?
How would the trees' heads toss free in the air of Love?
How would the blossoms shake their sleeves in days of spring
To shed their lovely coins about the garden wide?
How would the tulip's cheek be red like flames and blood?
How would the rose draw out its gold now from its purse?
How would the ringdoves call like seekers, "Where, oh where?"
How would the stork repeat his laklak from his soul,
To say: "O Helper high, Thine is the kingdom, Thine!"
How would the dust reveal the secrets of its heart?
How would the sky become a garden full of light?

A Protector -- Anonymous, 20:36:32 05/20/02 Mon [1]
"May I be a protector to those without protection,
A leader for those who journey,
And a boat, a bridge, a passage
For those desiring the further shore.
May the pain of every living creature
Be completely cleared away.
May I be the doctor and the medicine
And may I be the nurse
For all sick beings in the world
Until everyone is healed.
Just like space
And the great elements such as earth,
May I always support the life
Of all the boundless creatures.
And until they pass away from pain
May I also be the source of life
For all the realms of varied beings
That reach unto the ends of space."

It Yearns of the Glorious Light -- Anonymous, 20:47:33 05/19/02 Sun [1]
"Such is the soul of man, dear one. It yearns of the glorious light of Truth, which destroys all loneliness and memory. The many lives of man are as many times as the moon see the sun - after each, nothing remains but a vague idea of a beauty one seen. And there is always the longing, and always the return."

With My Heart As A Hand
Put out my eyes, and I can see you still,
Slam my ears to, and I can hear you yet;
And without any feet can go to you;
And tongueless, I can conjure you at will.
Break off my arms, I shall take hold of you
And grasp you with my heart as with a hand;
Arrest my heart, my brain will beat as true;
And if you set this brain of mine afire,
Then on my blood-stream I yet will carry you.

But For The Life Itself -- Anonymous, 20:34:12 05/18/02 Sat [1]
"We find greatest joy, not in getting, but in expressing what we are... Men do not really live for honors or for pay; their gladness is not the taking and holding, but in doing, the striving, the building, the living. It is a higher joy to teach than to be taught. It is good to get justice, but better to do it; fun to have things but more to make them. The happy man is he who lives the life of love, not for the honors it may bring, but for the life itself."

"Blessed is each and every child who has come onto this earth...
Blessed is each mother who has given each child birth.
Blessed the work of many years to raise up each little one...
That one day each mother may feel deeply proud.
of her own special daughter or son.
And one day the Angel of Motherhood
Will come to you gently and say...
Yes, the hours were long, the pay often poor
But yours was a job most well done!
I know, for you see... I was there all the time
Aware of your joy and pain...
I come now to tell you how much you are loved...
That nothing you did was in vain!
You're a light to the world for all that you give And I'll be by your side for as long as you live!"

O World, Thou Chooses Not -- Anonymous, 20:41:46 05/08/02 Wed [1]
O World, thou choosest not the better part!
It's not wisdom to be only wise -
And on the inward vision close the eyes,
But it is wisdom to believe the heart.
Columbus found a world, and had no chart,
Save one that faith deciphered in the skies;
To trust the soul's invincible surmise
Was all his science and his only art.
~ Our knowledge is a torch of smoky pine
That lights the pathway but one step ahead
Across a void of mystery and dread.
Bid, then, the tender light of faith to shine
By which alone the mortal heart is led
Unto the thinking of the thought divine.

Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning

Morning -- Anonymous, 20:14:02 05/07/02 Tue [1]
"From the East comes the sun,
Bringing a new and unspoiled day.
It has already circled the Earth and
Looked upon distant lands and
Far-away peoples.
It has passed over mountain ranges and
The waters of the seven seas.
It has shown upon laborers in the fields,
Into the windows of homes,
And shops, and factories.
It has beheld cities with gleaming towers,
And also the hovels of the poor.
It has been witness to both good and evil,
The works of honest men and women and
The conspiracy of knaves.
It has seen marching armies, bomb-blasted villages
And "the destruction that wasteth at noonday."
Now, unsullied from its tireless journey,
It comes to us,
Messenger of the morning.
Harbinger of a new day."

A Return To Love -- Anonymous, 21:38:57 05/04/02 Sat [1]
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us;
it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."

With the sound of grace
Merciful within mercy
The works of my faith
Smiles of overflowing
Inspire my giving
Abundance of joy as rain
The fruits of my living

Missing Children -- Anonymous, 22:02:20 05/02/02 Thu [1]
One exceptional thing about the power of the internet is the chance that someone, maybe you, might recognize the face of a missing child that you saw in a photograph while browsing, and help reunite that child with her or his family.
The photographs are a heartbreakingly common sight; you see them in bulletin boards at grocery stores, on milk cartons. But regardless of how common the sight is, I personally have resolved, and hope others will to, to never overlook those photographs. Just imagine if it were your lost child's face in that photograph, how it might feel to watch people walk by indifferently. These are life rafts for these children, but the life lines themselves are thrown out to us.
Yes, the chances are slim that you might actually recognize a missing child, yet chances are, also, that more than one person has crossed paths with the very missing child that he or she didn't look at on the milk carton, a bulletin board, or internet banner. I guarantee this, and a missed chance at being reunited is almost as tragic as the abduction itself.
"It's probably the worst thing any parent could go through," he said. "It's the most hopeless, helpless, empty feeling you could go through when it's your own child. You expect the worst and hope for the best.
Each year, about 4,600 children nationwide are abducted by strangers."

Different Faiths, The Beating of One Heart -- Anonymous, 20:55:15 05/02/02 Thu [1]
"I believe in the fundamental truth of all great religions of the world. I believe that they are all God-given and I believe that they were necessary for the people to whom these religions were revealed. And I believe that if only we could all of us read the scriptures of the different faiths from the standpoints of the followers of these faiths, we should find that they were at bottom all one and were all helpful to one another."

Richness -- Anonymous, 20:07:44 04/29/02 Mon [1]
One day a father and his rich family took his young son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose to show him how poor people can be. They spent a day and a night in the farm of a very poor family. When they got back from their trip the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
Very good, Dad!"
"Did you see how poor people can be?" the father asked.
"Yeah!" "And what did you learn?"
The son answered, "I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden, they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard, they have a whole horizon.
When the little boy was finishing, his father was speechless.
His son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are!"

The Starfish -- Anonymous, 20:05:55 04/29/02 Mon [1]
The Starfish
An old man was walking along the beach, when he came upon a part of the sand where thousands of starfish had washed ashore. A little further down the beach he saw a young woman, who was picking up the starfish one at a time and tossing them back into the ocean. "Oh you silly girl," he exclaimed. "You can't possibly save all of these starfish. There's too many." The woman smiled and said, "I know. But I can save this one, " and she tossed another into the ocean, "and this one", toss, "and this one..."

"I Am There" -- Anonymous, 20:53:28 04/28/02 Sun [1]
"Do you need Me ?
I am there.
You cannot see Me, yet I am the light you see by.
You cannot hear Me, yet I speak through your voice.
You cannot feel Me, yet I am the power at work in your hands.
I am at work, though you do not understand My ways.
I am at work, though you do not understand My works.
I am not strange visions. I am not mysteries.
Only in absolute stillness, beyond self, can you know Me
as I am, and then but as a feeling and a faith.
Yet I am here. Yet I hear. Yet I answer.
When you need ME, I am there.
Even if you deny Me, I am there.
Even when you feel most alone, I am there.
Even in your fears, I am there.
Even in your pain, I am there.
I am there when you pray and when you do not pray.
I am in you, and you are in Me.
Empty your heart of empty fears.
When you get yourself out of the way, I am there.
You can of yourself do nothing, but I can do all.
And I am in all. "
I am the love that is the law's fulfilling. I am assurance.
I am peace. I am oneness.
Though you fail to find ME, I do not fail you.
Though your faith in Me is unsure, My faith in you never
wavers, because I know you, because I love you."

Heart of Grace -- Anonymous, 21:37:04 04/27/02 Sat [1]
Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.

At The End Of Life -- Anonymous, 21:09:15 04/27/02 Sat [1]
At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done.
We will be judged by 'I was hungry and you gave me to eat, I was naked and you clothed me, I was homeless and you took me in.'
Hungry not only for bread - but hungry for love. Naked not only for clothing - but naked for human dignity and respect. Homeless not only for want of a room of bricks - but homeless because of rejection.

"The Wise Woman's Stone" -- Anonymous, 20:43:44 04/27/02 Sat [1]
A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.
"I've been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone."

it if it needs moving.

May God Bless You... -- Anonymous, 07:11:04 04/26/02 Fri [1]
May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, superficial relationships, so that you will live deep within your heart.
May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people so that you will work for justice, equality and peace.
May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that you will reach out your hand to comfort them and change their pain into joy.
And may God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference in the world, so that you will do the things which others tell you cannot be done.

Earth Prayer -- Anonymous, 20:53:30 04/24/02 Wed [1]
Earth Prayer
Standing here together, as one,
joined by love,
the many energies of our many selves
flowing through our fingertips,
flowing through each other,
let us feel the holiness of all around us,
the holiness of this room,
the holiness of the floor beneath us,
the stones beneath the floor,
the earth beneath the stones.
Let us feel the earth in the stones,
the earth in the floor,
the earth in ourselves.
Let us restore the earth
in everything we make and do.
Let us remember the earth
in everything we are,
as the earth remembers us
in everything it is.

Divine Discovery -- Anonymous, 21:19:22 04/15/02 Mon [1]
In the quiet curve of evening,
in the sinking of the days,
in the silky void of darkness, you are there.
In the lapses of my breathing,
in the space between my ways,
in the crater carved by sadness, you are there.
You are there, you are there, you are there.
In the rests between the phrases,
in the cracks between the stars,
in the gaps between the meaning, you are there.
In the melting down of endings,
in the cooling of the sun,
in the solstice of the winter, you are there.
You are there, you are there, you are there.
In the mystery of my hungers,
in the silence of my rooms,
in the cloud of my unknowing, you are there.
In the empty cave of grieving,
in the desert of my dreams,
in the tunnel of my sorrow, you are there.
You are there, you are there, you are there.

"A Prayer" by Max Ehrmann -- Anonymous, 22:49:53 04/07/02 Sun [1]

"A Prayer" by Max Ehrmann
Let me do my work each day; and if the darkened hours of despair
overcome me, may I not forget the strength that comforted me
in the desolation of other times.
May I still remember the bright hours that found me walking over
the silent hills of my childhood, or dreaming on the margin of a quiet
river, when a light glowed within me, and I promised my early God
to have courage amid the tempests of the changing years.
Spare me from bitterness and from the sharp passions of unguarded
moments. May I not forget that poverty and riches are of the spirit.
Though the world knows me not, may my thoughts and actions be
such as shall keep me friendly with myself.
Lift up my eyes from the earth, and let me not forget the uses of the
stars. Forbid that I should judge others lest I condemn myself.
Let me not follow the clamor of the world, but walk calmly in my
path.
Give me a few friends who will love me for what I am; and keep ever
burning before my vagrant steps the kindly light of hope.
And though age and infirmity overtake me, and I come not within
sight of the castle of my dreams, teach me still to be thankful for
life, and for time's olden memories that are good and sweet; and
may the evening's twilight find me gentle still.
