Chapter 10: Sightings

Meg awoke the next morning to a pounding headache. She got up and took some painkillers. She hadn't slept very well in the night. She just knew there was something odd going on with Talib and Terina, despite Nique's disbelief. She got dressed and decided to go out for the day. She wasn't going to spend a nice day stuck inside, waiting for Talib to call. If he really wanted to talk to her, he would call her cell phone, she figured. She grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed out to the mall.

The moment Star woke up, she called Terina to warn her of Meg's suspicions, but she got Terina's answering machine instead. Star looked at her clock. 10:00 am. She was awake and out of the house already?! After the familiar "beep", she left Terina a brief but urgent message: "Teri? It's Star. PLEASE call me as soon as possible! I think Meg is on to something. Talk to you soon!"
Star hung up and paced her room nervously. She didn't know why she was so nervous. It wasn't like this had anything to do with her. But it was, in a way. She knew both sides of the story. Well, two sides... she didn't know what was going on with Talib. And there was no easy way of asking him either, she didn't know him very well.

Nique: "I'm so glad you were up early! I wanted to go have breakfast and a bit of shopping before I met up with Lami later."
Terina: "No problem! I wasn't doing anything particularly interesting at home anyway"
She had just been daydreaming about Talib when Nique had called to invite her out. Nique decided to not mention Meg's opinions to Terina just yet. She didn't want to cause any more unnecessary tension between her friends. The girls ate at a little café-style eatery at the mall and then headed over to the shops.
Two hours and many purchases later, they sat at a bench waiting for Lami to arrive. Nique spotted her boyfriend approaching. With Talib.
Nique thought: ‘Crap' She gave Terina and apologetic look but realized Terina wasn't even looking at her. She was looking at the guys.
Nique ran over to Lami and kissed him. While she hugged him, she noticed Talib had sat down next to Terina, and they were talking quietly and subtly, but talking nonetheless. Nique raised an eyebrow at this odd spectacle. She hugged Lami again and whispered to him the short version of everything that was happening and Lami subtly turned to look at the two who were supposedly "enemies".

Meg felt better after doing some shopping. She had forgotten all about Talib for the past few hours. Just as she finished that thought, she caught sight of Nique, Lami and Talib, talking to Terina.
Meg mumbled: "What the hell is going on?!"
She discussed whether or not to confront him but decided against it. She didn't want to cause a scene in public. Suddenly, Meg wasn't in the mood to shop anymore and so she headed back the way she had come in and drove home in a huff.

Jiz: "Hey baby" when he opened the door. He kissed Liz and they headed up to his room.
Liz: "So what's the big secret?" Jiz had been very mysterious and wouldn't tell her over the phone. He held up his index finger as he peeked into Talib's room.
Jiz: "Ssh..." He took her hand and led her to his own room and closed the door.
Jiz: "Okay, this is between us alright? I don't want to be responsible for starting something."
Liz: "Jiz, please just tell me! I'm getting worried!"
Jiz: "Okay, well, last night after I said goodnight to you, I headed upstairs and walked by Lib's room. I overheard him talking to someone and it sounded like something happened between him and Terina..." he paused, waiting for her reaction.
She looked at him curiously: "Something? Like they got into a fight?"
Jiz smiled: "No..." he stressed, looking at Liz
Liz: "Oh!" when she realized what he meant.
Liz: "Really!?! NO WAY!!"
Jiz: "That's what it sounded like..."
Liz: "Ohmygod... this is huge! Does Meg know!? Does anyone know??"
Jiz: "Not that I know of... and that's why it's better to keep it between us. For now at least."
Liz: "Wow... This is as unbelievable as... as the most oddest thing ever!"
Jiz: "I know... that's why it's such a good secret. Nobody will see that coming. I mean, those two hated each other. Who would have thought they would hook up!? Who would BELIEVE it!?"
