Not too be too critical here, though I must mention.
You people (sound) talk as if you need a serious amount of discipline in your life(s)
You should try boxing. Solves alot of issues. Physical determination is sometimes better than therapy. Work it out.
I have problems, but when I see my opponent, I become free of them. Now there is only communication of movement.

Sex Roles -- Kizzy Young, 22:57:28 04/24/05 Sun
True personality in my opinion is being able to be yourself and not have to worry about what other people say about you. Traditional sex roles in my opinion no longer exist due to the fact that we as Americans are in a totally different stage in life. In the past, a traditional American family was portrayed as the man worked the woman took care of the kids and the house. Now in today's society, both partners work and in some households there is only one bread winner and that is the female. I also feel that a person can not freely express themselves soley because society will look down on them. The example I will use to support my previous statement is if a female comes in for a job interview and she is very intelligent, has a bacholors degree and very polite, then the employer notices that she a nose piercing and a couple of tattos. ( times out 10 she will not get the job (even though she is qualified) because of the way she appears. Now that is her style and her individuality, so who is to say that she shouldn't be hired. Society because everyone is still stuck in those days where a woman should look, dress and speak a certain way.

- DEVELOPMENT OF A TRULY FREE PERSONALITY -- Lenore S. Tyler, 14:38:34 04/23/05 Sat
Personality - (1) The characteristics or qualities that form an individual's character. (2) Qualities that make someone interesting or popular.
In order to have a truly free personality one would be without character or characteristics that make up an individual. In the early development of our lives our personality development is biological. As our life-span continues we are influenced by family, peers, friends and individual's outside the home and various organizations. I think that traditional sex roles contribute positively toward our personality but, that depends on from whom we are learning. If our influences are from positive individual then our personalities will reflect positivity but if we are taught by negative individual then our personalities will be negative unless, there are biological reasons. I don't think it is possible to have a truly free personality. We as individual imitate what we see. For instant into today's society, we see cross gender dressing, we see people having their physical being surgically altered and with this change does not bring about a truly free personality although, the individual has switched or changed society's label of them. The individual's new gender role mirrors what they perceive that opposite sex role to be and there had to be a model be it real or derived from television or a magazine. I believe society as a whole does not look positively at this type of behavior but, some members of society are excepting of this type behavior. As a child, we are taught who to be after, we become of legal age it is our choice as to who we want to be. We decide what clothes to wear, how we dress, how we behave-ethically/morally, we decide if we want to be excepted by others-popular and we decide if we physically want to continue to be a male or female. So again, I don't think it's possible to possess a truly free personality.

- Assignment 8 Sex Roles -- Tabatha Wright, 12:54:00 04/23/05 Sat
My interpretation of truly free personality is to be allowed to be whomever and whatever you want. I don't think it's possible in today's society. If I had to choose an event to support my answer, I would have to go with same sex marriages in the United States. It is one of the largest controversial topics today. Traditionally a marriage consists of a man and a woman, not of the same sex. If traditional afforded everyone the opportunity to have a truly free personality, same sex marriages wouldn't be an issue. Society as a whole dictates our personalities to us. In order to becaome successful we must play by the rules. An example of how society dictates who we are would be the requirement to wear uniforms, or the inablility to wear your hair in braids for certain jobs. What clothes we wear and how we wear our hair are small reflections of who we are. If we are forced to look differently for the sake of a job, we are not displaying a reflection of who we truly are. So to answer the question plainly, no I don't feel that traditional sex roles contribute positively to the development of a truly free personality.

I do not believe that traditional sex roles are positive because of the theory that a man makes the money and a women watches the kids and cleans the house. I feel that a man and a women should be able to fulfill any role that they wish to fulfill weather it be their traditional sex role or not. I believe traditional sex roles distinguish to much between what one can do and what one wants to do. I do not think they are positive

I do not believe that traditional sex roles contribute to a truly free personality.Having a free personalty means being yourself and not worrying about what others think.some people might want to play the other role and not play the traditional one because they are worried about what others think. This means that they do not have a free personalty due to a traditional sex role.

continuation of eating disorders.......
The only person I know who has an eating disorder is my mom. She over eats because cause she does not know how to constructively handle her emotions. Classes that will teach her how to deal with her emotions in ways other than eating will help her with her problem. I have never had an issue with eating disorders.

I do believe that eating disorders are important to cover in class. Many people do not know how to eat properly and therefore they are over weight or under weight. I feel that covering issues like this in class will help improve the health of a lot of people especially the younger generation.

MORAL DEVELOPMENT -- KIZZY K. YOUNG, 18:18:42 04/17/05 Sun
I have thought long and hard and I feel like I am at stage 4.5. Due to the fact that I look at things on a emotional basis. I feel like I am competent enough and understand that if I due something morally incorrect, I will pay the consquiences. I feel that I can not make another person decisions and noone can make my decisions and what ever decision is made is that person choice. Once again, I feel that everything goes back to the beginning as far as how a person is raised and how they choose to let the way of the world dictate their lives.

- MORAL DEVELOPMENT -- Lenore S. Tyler, 17:06:28 04/17/05 Sun
I would say according to Paiget's theory, I'm in the 4th Stage, Formal operations. According to Kohlberg's theory, I think I'm in Level 3, the Post-conventional stage and with regards to his sub-stagess, 1 through 6 applies. After reading both theories, I wanted more options. I don't think there was enough exploration on the effects of other influences. Piaget's requirement for the fourth stage is abstract, idealistic, and a logical way of thinking. I agree that education plays an important role in one's ablity to process information in this manner and to do so in a more advance manner then when one would think as a adolescent. Also, I think one's life experiences can influences one's moral development as well. Piaget's view's on moral reasoning; heteronomous and autonomous are age specific but I think those views transcend throughtout the human life-span, some justice and rules are unchangeable. As a rule, cheating is never exceptable. I agree, in moral developement one's intent to do wrong and that there are consequences are presented to us at an early age. We are influenced by our peers and our relationship with others, be it church, school or the community. We are always changing what we do today, we may not do tommorrow. I found the theories to be filled with facts but, I felt that there were other avenues to be explored. We all have it in us to do what is right and what is wrong. For some of us the struggle is harder than for others. For us who do the right thing today, we pray that tommorrow want bring about a situation that will lead to an immoral decision. Religion influences the choices that I make and that is based on my up-bringing. I fall short sometimes in my decision making but, I think the good out weights the bad. I'm still growing emotionally and spritually.

- IQ TESTING -- LAQUITA YATES COOPER, 15:27:51 04/17/05 Sun
I think IQ testing is helpful because it allows one to test a person intelligance. I feel that people can be better understood if their intullectual level is known. Some people can do things better than others because they comprehend better. If I know that a person is not doing what they should because they cant comprehend, I have more paitents with them. My chance of shaming them is slim because I have a better understanding of their way of thinking.

I THINK THAT I AM AT STAGE 5 AT THIS TIME IN MY LIFE. I BELIEVE IN WHAT IS BEST FOR EVERYONE, NOT JUST WHAT IS BEST FOR A FEW PEOPLE. I CONSIDER MYSELF TO HAVE GOOD ETHICAL STANDARDS, BUT SOMETIMES YOU CAN NEVER SAY WHAT YOU WOULD OR WOULD NOT DO UNTIL YOU ARE PUT INTO CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. - Moral Development -- Tabatha Wright, 14:03:19 04/17/05 Sun
After long consideration, I would have to say I am at stage 4.5. I believe that all humans have a general idea of what is right and what is wrong according to society, therefore we will in most cases abide by the laws set forth by our forefathers. I chose this particular stage because at any given time I am sure to say "don't judge because you don't know the full circumstances." I think we all want to do what is right, but our emotions and circumstances dictate what we actually do. The advice I often give when asked is, "just pray about it and do what God places on your heart." We don't all think or feel alike therefore we have to make decisions based on what we beleive to be right.

I feel that I am entering stage 5, however not completely. I chose this stage because I consider and understand social contracts and individual rights. I also have the ability to evaluate laws and social systems and to know that they serve to protect human rights and value. However I dont feel that I would consider universal ethical principles when it comes to protecting the one's that I love because I voted to steal the drug in order to keep them alive.

This question was rather difficult to determine, but i would say that i am in stage 3 and stage 4. I think I am between these two because of the conversation we had in class about obeying the law or trying to save a loved one. I personally do value trust, caring, and loyalty to others as a basis for moral judgements. I would do anything i could within reason to help save a loved one weather that was meant lawfully correct or not. Stage 4 says that your moral judgements are based on understanding of the social order, law, justice, and duty. I am this to some degree, but like i said the example we talked about in class, has made me question how much i would really follow this, in extreme circumstances

Iq testing is positive in helping to determine a child's learning abilities. It helps to show if a child is above or below the normal results so that teachers can accomodate the right needs to these students. It's also very helpful in the placement of a child. If they are really smart they need to be more academically challenged then other's and IQ tests help us to find these results

Like most things, IQ testing has postive and negative aspects. I think that IQ testing helps not only teachers, but parents and the student who is tested get a better understanding of their learning style. I also think that these tests will benefit the "testee", because his/her teachers will know how to teach the material presented in the classroom.

I Q Testing -- Kizzy young, 01:37:58 04/08/05 Fri
I feel that some IQ test are necessary, due to the fact that it helps get a better understanding of the person that you may be dealing with. A test that I consider neccessary is the TCAP testing that they have in the school systems today. This is a very important test due to the fact that it test the students on information that they learned during the school year. I feel like this gives everyone in the school system the ability to see if the particular teacher is teaching the information that the student needs to acheive this particular test and also it focuses on the student's compreshension level.

- Eating Disorders -- Sharita Woolfork, 11:11:55 04/07/05 Thu
I feel that it is very important to cover this issue because in any profession in which you deal with people you might need to have some background information in this area. I have actually known plenty of people who have had eating disorders. These were mainly people that were cheerleaders and even some people I played basketball with. I know it sounds crazy but our cheerleaders use to have a coach that weighed them every week.So every person would get weighed on Monday and for every pound gained over their required weight they ran a mile. So many of these girls were forced into having eating disorders and in a way they thought this made them better athletes. Luckily I had no personal problem with this because I wanted to be a good athlete but not that bad.And let me say that is not what makes a person a good athlete. In my mind it wasn't worth missing a meal over and my mother raised me with the thought that I am beautiful with or without love handles. I truly believe that if more parents would show their children that beauty is not all about how much you weigh eating disorders wouldn"t happen as often as they do.

Bonding -- Sharita Woolfork, 10:45:06 04/07/05 Thu
I feel that boding is very important at birth however some mothers don't bond with their children in the begining. For example my mother said she didn't bond with my sister who is the oldest untill she was about three yeats old. The main reason why was because it was her first child, she didn't know what to do , and in my moms own words she was scared of it. Well thitry two years later she had every right to be scared in my opinion ha ha. Once my mom went through the stages that most young first time mothers go through she finally started to warm up to the fact that she had given life to a gift from God and she needed to treat it as so.In my opinion bonding is one of those things that you want to do as soon as possible because it will only maximize the potential for a wonderful relationship.

The website that I found was www.corpun.com My pesonal opinion on corporal punishment is that it should be used in certain situations and yes I would use it. As i have stated I feel that corporal punishment is not necessary for all children. There is a for sure difference in parents and teachers spanking your child. It use to be teachers were trustworthy and you could feel assured they would never hurt your child but that time has changed. So due to that fact I don't want nurses or teachers spanking my child. I feel there is no diffrence in a nurse or a teacher using corporal punishment and one shouldn't be made.

Eating Disorders -- Jessica Powell, 13:33:53 04/05/05 Tue
Yes, I think that eating disorders should be a topic of discussion for this class. All of us in the class are going in to or already are in some type of people-helping field and each one of us may have experience with it. Nurses, doctors, and teachers are faced with this and many other disorders everyday. It is not uncommon for children, mainly teenagers to develop an eating disorder so that they can look just like one of the models on tv or in the magazines. I have no personal experience with this, but I saw the long term effects that it had on my aunt after her high school gymnastics coach told her she was "fat". She experimented with all types of drugs and alcohol and suffered from bulimia and anorexia both until her death. I believe that eating disorders are very important to learn about so that we as educators and healthcare providers can hopefully save lives.

Yes I do think that eating disorders should be discussed in this class. They are an important subject and their effects on young girls are greatly underestimated. They can cause serious damage to your body and more people should educate themselves. Teachers and nurses need to be informed about eating disorders so that they can help more people who are suffering from these diseases. I have never personally known anyone with an eating disorder, but I have read about them. I do not have an experience to share with the class but I would love to hear others'.

I feel that eating disorders should be discussed in class, because is a serious problem in society today. Many people have eating disorders and not many people view it as a serious problem. There are many over weight people in America and if feel that obesity would not be as big of a problem if more people were educated on this issue. A lot of young people do not eat at all and this is a very serious eating disorder that needs more attention. I have known people with eating disorders who did not eat. They were mentally sick and should have been educated on how not eating properly can pysically harm there body and even cost them their life. Thankfully, I do not have a eating disorder.

I think it is important to cover eating disorders in class. A student may possess no knowledge or limited knowledge on the subject. Covering this topic can be insightful to a student if he or she is experiencing an eating disorder or if they know someone who has an eating disorder. Talking about it can lead to a better understanding and provide information on organizations who can give assistant towards recovery. No, I don't know anyone who has had a problem with an eating disorder. On the other hand, I have been struggling with weight management for over 20 years. I have use the bulimia method, it's possible that I did participate in this type of behavior at least two time a week for a three month period. I was trying to lose weight in a 12 week period. I don't think it was a case of serious bulimia but it was a desperate act. I'm trying to eat healthier and exercise more without energy enhancing supplements or diet fads. My struggle continues in regards to weight management but I am making better choices.

EATING DISORDER -- DEMETRICE R MERRIWEATHER, 13:50:43 04/03/05 Sun
I BELIEVE THAT EATING DISORDERS SHOULD BE DISCUSSED IN THIS CLASS BECAUSE IT IS A GROWING PROBLEM. MOST EATING DISORDERS ARE DISQUISED SO NO ONE ON THE OUTSIDE WOULD KNOW. IF WE LEARN ABOUT THESE DISORDERS, WE AS EDUCATORS OR NURSES WILL KNOW THE SIGNS AND JUST MAY BE ABLE TO SAVE A LIFE. THESE DISORDERS ARE FOUND NOT ONLY IN YOUNG KIDS BUT IN ADULTS ALSO. MUST ADULTS CARRY OVER THESE BAD HABITS FROM CHILDHOOD. WITH OBESITY BEING SUCH A HUGE PROBLEM IN AMERICA, PEOPLE ARE DOING ANYTHING THESE DAYS TO BECOME THE PERFECT IMAGE. I PERSONALLY DO NOT KNOW ANYONE WITH AN EATING DISORDER. I FEEL THAT IT SHOULD NOT MATTER HOW I LOOK ON THE OUTSIDE, BUT I WANT PEOPLE TO LOVE ME FOR THE PERSON I AM ON THE INSIDE, AND I MUST LOVE MYSELF BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE CAN LOVE ME.

Yes, Ido feel like the different types of eating disorders should be discussed in the class because we as students are getting ready to work with children of all different shapes, colors, and beliefs. I honestly feel like eating disorders can start at a very young age and if students are aware of the different causes and symptoms of eating disorders, then the world would have less people with the disorders. I feel like our society plays a big role with the reason why people have eating disorders because in America, image is everything. I honestly dont know anyone who has dealt with an eating disorder.

I completely disagree with corporal punishment because it was never used on me and I do believe there are other forms of punishment that work just as well if not better. I will not use corporal punishment on my children because of these reasons. I do not believe that a teacher spanking someone else's child should be allowed in any school at all. I believe it is different for a parent to punish their child and i do not think that it is the teacher's responsibility to do so. No i do not think their is a difference between teacher's and nurses using corporal punishment because i believe no one should have the right to hit anyone else's child except for the parent if that is wahat they believe in.

- Bonding -- Kristin Kerlin, 20:34:51 04/01/05 Fri
It is not completely necessary for a mother and a child to bond immediately for the child to develop at an optimal level. For instance, a mother could die while giving birth to her child, but the baby will grow up to be a perfectly normal and socially developed individual. Just because the mother is not a major part of the child's life, doesn't mean that the child is at a disadvantage in development.
THe only experience i have had with children is with my baby niece. I was able to experience the birth process as well as the after birth responsibilities that go along with having children. My sister has made me a large part of my niece's life and i have helped my sister out along the way.

I think it is very important for eating disorder to be discussed in this class. Image seems to be every thing ans we are all concerned about our image. Whether we want to admit it or not, we all at some point have been unhappy with our appearance. When we look in the mirror and don't like the our clothes look on us or decide we need to lose a few or gain a few pounds, at that moment we are unhappy. I think it's okay to be a little self-conscience about our weight but when we allow it alter our life, it then becomes an issue.I don't know anyone personally who has an eating disorder but I have seen my share of Oprah to see it pretty up close.

I also own my own business (Creative Services), which offers a variety of services from baskets and gifts for any/all occasions to catering and party planning. I missed the first class because I had to go out of town that week. I am a senior working on a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I love the whole concept of learning and teaching. As you all will find out in class, I can be very out spoken and somewhat persuasive. However, I enjoy hearing the opinions of others and welcome a good debate. I look forward to to this class. I have already found it to be quite interesting.

- Bonding -- Tabatha Wright, 14:16:34 03/28/05 Mon
I don't know how I missed this assignment, but in any case I think bonding between a mother and infant is important. I also think bonding between a father and an infant is equally as important. Fathers can't bond with the infant while it is in the mother's womb but after birth fathers can do just as much as mothers. My husband is a wonderful father and as a result of his attentiveness to my younger son, they share a closer bond than I share with my son. Ty prefers to hang with his dad and always has. He tells me we are best friends (even today) but I know he really is closer to my husband and that's okay. Children need to know they have someone to go to no matter what and as long as it is a parent I think that's great. I have a closer relationship with my oldest son (Tre) but our relationship started out differently. I wasn't married then so therefore I was all he had. To date his preference is to hang out with me. To tell the truth, he prefers to hang with his friends, but I run a close second. Bonding is important because all children should feel loved and experience life with at least one person they can always count on and feel comfortable sharing things with. One thing we all need to remember is that if our children aren't talking to and sharing things with us, they are with someone else. I want it to be me or my husand.

- Bonding -- Lindsey Tartera, 19:29:50 03/27/05 Sun
Bonding is fundamental in the development of a child. The bonding between a mother and her child is extremely important and will help to mold the child and make him the type of person that he will become. My mother and I were always very close from the time that I was a very small child and knowing that she was always there for me when I needed her made me appreciate things more today and be a more caring person.

- Corporal Punishment -- Lindsey Tartera, 19:25:38 03/27/05 Sun
I found an interesting website about corporal punishment. It was religioustolerance.org/spanking and it featured bible readings that were related to the subject and had many people's points of view about corporal punishment. The main theme of the website was against it. I am against corporal punishment, also. I do not have any children myself but I was never spanked as a child. I feel that it really does not do any good for the child or influence behavior any more effectively than other means, such as positive and negative reinforcement. If you can teach the child a lesson and be firm in not letting them do something that they wanted to do, then I feel that they will learn more from the situation. I do feel that there is a difference in parents and teachers spanking children. If parents choose to spank their children, that is their own decision and they have a right to raise their child in any way that they feel is right. However, teachers are there to teach the children, and definitely should not be allowed to punish them in this way. I would not want any teacher to physically harm my child no matter what the child had done. There is no difference in teachers and nurses-both hold the same role in a childs development and should not be allowed to harm someone else's child. They should only be concerned with the child's health-not raising him.

I feel that bonding between the infant and his/her parent is very important. It gives the child a sense of protection and lets them know that they are loved. The parent should also want to spend time with their kids, so they can get to know them.

- BONDING -- LAQUITA YATES COOPER, 15:45:56 03/27/05 Sun
I feel that it is neccessary for a mother to bond with their child immediately. When I was pregnant with my son, I song to him, talk to him and immediately made him a part of my life. The relationship we developed then is the foundation for the relationship that we have now. The things that I did with him while I was pregnant, are the things that he enjoys know.

Website about corporal punishment
http//www.religioustolerance.org/spanking_menu.htm
Hello everone, I do beleive that corporal punishment is neccessary for discipline. However, I feel that it is not affective if there is not proper balance in the relationship between the parent and child. If a child can only relate to there parents by their spankings, then there is a problem that suggests that the child does not have a nurturing relationship with his or her parent. If I spank my child, he would have been disciplined verberlly about the misbehavior serveral times before the corporal punishment. Kids are suppose to obey their parents and if I allow my child to consistantly disobey me then he will never learn to obey me. It does not make sense to tell a child to stop more than once, that's why he is the child and I am the parent. Parent control there child and not vice a versa. I do feel that there is a differance between parents and teachers discipling a child with corporal punishment. A teacher may like my child, but I love my child and would never do anything that is not in his best interest. A teacher on the other hand have room full of kids to care for and may not evalutate a negative situation fairly. Many teacher develope bad opinions of children that may effect the way they discipline a child. There is not a differance between a teacher and a nurse using corporal punishment. Its not a teacher place to make a child behave properly, parents should pay attention to their kids and be parents. This does not mean that a teacher shouldnt have to reinforce a child to act, but is all it should be. A nurse should not be concerned with the behavior of their patients. They should mainly be concern the health of their patients and the medical attention the patient needs.

- WEBSITE ON CORPORAL PUNISHMENT -- DEMETRICE R. MERRIWEATHER, 15:08:58 03/27/05 Sun
I FOUND A GOOD WEBSITE ON THE STATISTIC OF CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. THE WEB SITE IS www.aboutjuveniledelinquents.com/Article3.htm . SINCE I AGREE WITH CORPORAL PUNISHMENT I WAS GLAD TO FIND A WEBSITE THAT FOCUSED ON CORPORAL PUNISHMENT AND THE AFFECTS IT HAS ON CHILDREN THAT HAVE BEEN DISCIPLINED IN THIS MATTER. THIS WEBSITE COMPARES CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO CORPORAL PUNHISHMENT WITH CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN PERMITTED TO BEHAVE IN OTHER WAYS. EVEN IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH CORPORAL PUNISHMENT, I THINK YOU WILL FIND THE WEBSITE INTERESTING.

- BONDING -- DEMETRICE R MERRIWEATHER, 14:44:13 03/27/05 Sun
I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT FOR A MOTHER AND A BABY TO BOND. SOME MIGHT NOT BOND IMMEDIATELY, BUT AS TIME PASS AND THEY GO THROUGH THE DIFFERENT STAGES OF THE CHILD'S LIFE, THE BOND WILL OCCUR AND GROW STRONGER. WHEN I HAD MY FIRST CHILD I WAS UNSURE OF MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY DAUGHTER. I DIDNT KNOW IF I COULD HANDLE MOTHERHOOD AND IF I COULD BE A GOOD PARENT. BUT AS TIME WENT ALONG, THINGS JUST CAME ABOUT NATURALLY. MY DAUGHTER AND I FELL INTO A GREAT RHYTHM AND BEFORE I KNEW IT, I HAD A BLOSSOMING YOUNG LADY ON MY HANDS AND I REALIZE THAT I HAVE DONE A FANTASTIC JOB.

- CORPORAL PUNISHMENT -- DEMETRICE R. MERRIWEATHER, 14:27:10 03/27/05 Sun
YES, I BELIEVE IN CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. I BELIEVED THAT IT SHOULD BE USED AS A LAST RESULT, BUT SOMETIMES IN A SEVERE SITUATION, IT CAN BE USED IMMEDIATELY. MY PARENTS GAVE ME SPANKINGS AS A CHILD, AND I HAVE SUFFERED NO ILL AFFECTS BECAUSE OF IT. BECAUSE I DID NOT GAVE FOR THIS TYPE OF PUNISHMENT, I MADE SURE NOT TO MISBEHAVE. I RECIEVED A TOTALLY OF FOUR SPANKINGS DURING MY CHILDHOOD. I THINK THAT CORPORAL PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE USED AT SCHOOL IF THE PARENT IS NOTIFIED FIRST AND DOES NOT OBJECT TO THIS TYPE OF PUNISHMENT FOR THE OFFENSE THAT WAS COMMITTED. THIS TYPE OF PUNISHMENT SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN FOR EVERY OFFENSE THAT OCCURS AT SCHOOL. OTHER METHODS SHOULD BE USED BEFORE HAND IF POSSIBLE. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR A NURSE TO USE CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. MOST PATIENTS ARE SICK AND SOMETIMES MENTALLY UNSTABLE, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? IF YOU CAN NOT DEAL WITH YOUR PATIENTS OBJECTIVELY, THEN THAT NURSE NEEDS TO FIND A NEW LINE OF WORK.

Hello to everyone. I found a great website on corporal punishment.
http://www.religioustolerance.org/spanking.htm
I totally agree with corporal punisment. I think there is a very thin line between disciplining and child abuse and as long as it isn't crossed, spanking is okay. Not every child or situation calls for a spanking. I think spanking should only be administered after you've exhausted all avenues. It should never be administered when you are angry or stressed out about something else. Without a doubt, there is a difference between teachers and parents spanking children. As a parent, you pretty much know how hard and how long to spank your child, I don't feel that comfortable with teachers. I'm not quite sure why a nurse would need to spank a child other than its own. I would have to say there isn't much of a difference between a teacher or a nurse spanking a child because I don't think either one should.

Bonding -- Kizzy Young, 11:13:06 03/26/05 Sat
I feel like bonding between a parent and a child is a wonderful thing. I have two daughters and from day one of conception, we were bonding and I feel like it is a wonderful thing. I feel like my daughters and I have a great connection and I couldn't ask for anything more. As a young child growing up my mother didn't really raise me, I was raised by my aunt, due to the fact that my mother was a teenager when she had me. We have bonded more over the years due to the fact that I have children. Don't get me wrong, my mother is a wonderful lady and I wouldn't deny her of anything because even though she wasn't physically there, she was spiritually and financially and I thank her for being the woman she is and helping me become the woman that I have become.

Yes, I agree with corporal punishment, but it is not required at all times. I feel like a lot of times people choose to spank their kids when they are angry and I don't agree with that type of punishment. On my opinion corporal punishment should be the last resort to discipline. Yes, I feel that there is a difference between a parent spanking their child and a teacher spanking the pupil. Due to the fact that the parent knows their child and a parent is aware of the discipline tactics that work with their child.I can understand a teacher using corporal punishment, but I don't understand why a nurse would us e corporal punishment.

- CORPORAL PUNISHMENT -- LENORE S. TYLER, 22:47:40 03/25/05 Fri
www.religioustolerance.org/spanking.htm
I believe in corporal punishment and yes, I do use it. As a child, I received several spankings, a few I didn't think I deserved. Corporal punishment can be an effective tool, if used correctly. From a religious perspective, if you spare the rod then you spoil the child. It is out of love that I administer this form of discpline. My goal is to save my love ones from a self destructive life. Teachers and nurses are in the school system to provide a service. I don't thinks teachers or nurses should administer corporal punishment. In school, the principle should award corporal punishment.

- BONDING: MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE -- LENORE S. TYLER, 22:32:10 03/25/05 Fri
I have not yet experienced the joy of child birth but, I have experienced the joy of bonding. My newphew was born April 7, 1985. One month later, I was taking care of his every need. I took care of him for the summer while my sister worked. During this period, we bonded; we also survived a fire together. Since May 1985, I have been an intrical part of his life. He is a Sophomore at UCA and he has grown into a well mannered young man. I am very proud of him! I believe that bonding between a mother and child begin prior to birth. If a child is adopted, I think the connection should occur immediately after birth for optimal development. Also, I think it is possible for adoptive parents to bond with a child past the infant stage.

- Intelligance testing -- Lindsey Tartera, 12:36:28 04/12/05 Tue
I think that many aspects of intelligence testing are negative, however there are some positive. The most important is that the tests help to determine where a child should be placed in classes at school. There is usually always an average score, and if a child scores extremely higher or lower than this score, then they need to be placed in other groups or classes in school, especially grade school.
