He kept stride with her, falling slightly behind with each deadfall they cleared. Another wolf was no match for him, but her long, lithe body could outpace him in the long run. And in the jumps? He just lost too much ground on the jumps, had to put too much effort into height instead of distance on the jumps. He bumped her shoulder with his, nodding to his right, towards the hot springs just over the rise. He loped off towards them, disappearing into a thicket of brush followed by a splash.

He shook himself, up to his belly in the steaming waters. His tongue lulled out of his mouth in that wolfish grin, and he wagged his tail. He settled his rear into the water with a dramatic sigh.
