Subject: Was helping The Ox the other night with Ruckman....
In reply to: Mods 's message, "Williamson not a KPD & have roughy as EMG..." on 2/07/20 9:38pm

And the balance sheets are terrible when it comes to Ruckman, yet that is going unnoticed.

So many ruckman, who never see the light of day in the forward line, are getting played FF. Leaving some teams with quite a few rucks, and some with none, because coaches are holding onto the second, third and fourth ruckman.

At the beginning of the year, I had Williamson as a key defender on my balance sheet. He still is there on my page, but he has been changed on the balance sheet without me knowing.

In 2017, he played key, and I was quite surprised to see he is only 190cm. I thought he was 193cm, and plays tall.

However, Ceglar hasn't played key forward since 2016, Stefan Martin is not a key forward as well as ruck, Nor is Kreuzer since 2017. Zac Smith 1 goal in two years, Scott Lycett has kicked 16 goals in 4 years, with two of those with none. Williamson is more of a chance of playing key than these from happening.

People have been complaining about Hurn playing key defence for years, but when I see him, it quite often takes a key forward.

Even the swings are more and more far fetched. Even my own. Ben Reid hasn't played defence for years, Roughead is less and less a defender as time goes on. Tom McDonald is no longer a defender, Jeremy McGovern never plays forward, nor does Jake Carlisle, Zaine Cordy is only a defender, has only kicked 10 in his career since 2015, with 8 coming way back in 2016, and this is all just casting a quick eye over the balance sheet. Yet sometimes coaches make exception to some positioning, when ALL sides have faults in them.

I don't mind Roughead coming in for Williamson, but just because someone is 190cm, doesn't mean that can't play tall. I would prefer a 190cm Jeremy Howe as a key than many other 195cm Defenders.

What I learnt in helping The Ox out, was mainly the rucks. Coaches are getting into him, yet are stockpiling rucks in forward positions themselves. Something has to give surely. Coaches are playing hardball in trade because they can be hidden seemingly without detection in key roles because the club might play them there once or twice as a stop gap for a game because their regular is injured. Not really realistic, especially when a team is so void of them, because they are good currency.
