 Much the same as in the UK in public that is. However hardly heard of that law being used in practice.

For example, you do see children out and about smoking however living in the countryside as I do there are virtually no police around anyway. I would guess in a built up urban city it would be different but for us it's a law in practice but barely used.

Unless you are caught smoking in front of the police, you are 99% going to get away with it.
