“‘I want to ask ye something,’ he said, running a hand down the length of my back.
‘What’s that?’
‘Did ye like it?’ he said, a little shyly.
‘Yes, I did,’I said, quite honestly.
‘Oh. I thought ye did, though Murtagh told me that women generally do not care for it, so I should finish as soon as I could.’
‘What would Murtagh know about it?’ I said indignantly. ‘The slower the better, as far as most women are concerned.’ Jamie chuckled again.
‘Well, you’d know better than Murtagh.’”

I agree. He wasn’t romantic except for unrequited love of Ellen. But you couldn’t ask for a better person to have your back. The show’s line of him and Jocasta as lovers was way off for me. But I understand there’s not time to develop his character like in the books so they had to go for physical attraction, which Duncan has in spades. -- Kathy in PA, Wed, February 14 2024, 11:11:00

It's just a thought, but I wonder if Murtagh loving Ellen gave him a shield against a permanent attachment to another woman. Being unmarried would be unusual. John used his love of Jamie to keep Percy at arm's length, giving him a way to keep himself from committing to that relationship - I wonder if Percy would have become such a git if he had. -- kgp, Wed, February 14 2024, 18:54:24

IDK, I somehow had a feeling he was with the girls a bit, just didn't want a permanent relationship if he couldn't have Ellen... -- Janet, Thu, February 15 2024, 11:05:59
