I agree. He wasn’t romantic except for unrequited love of Ellen. But you couldn’t ask for a better person to have your back. The show’s line of him and Jocasta as lovers was way off for me. It's just a thought, but I wonder if Murtagh loving Ellen gave him a shield against a permanent attachment to another woman. Being unmarried would be unusual.
