The battle was finally over, but not with its count of injuries. Some form of force field had thrown Isobel back after she managed to deliver the killing blow to the Lich. Fortunately, she managed to get back on her feet. Argus had been thrown back by what appeared to be some form of lightning bolt spell, but it seem he managed to recover as well. Ravin was the only one that was still somewhat shaken by the Lich’s attack. Argus’ spell somehow managed to relieve any discomfort his fellow thief might have had, and after a good fifteen minute rest, the thief was back on his feet, shaking his head, and giving Erlic the look.

Erlic could only smile. He realized that Ravin, although a very good fighter, and thief, didn’t particularly enjoy fighting against undead, especially the larger ones such as the Lich. The guild master realized that the younger thief preferred the usual fighting that was associated with battles in Bizmar, not these unknown, and totally unforeseeable dangers that one wasn’t quite accustomed to.

Erlic turned to insure Jade was alright, and she merely smiled, telling him how wonderful it was to be back, and fighting these wonderful creatures. The guild master simply smiled, and the group decided to check out the area. In the main cavern there was nothing of value to be found, but inside the sarcophagus were a number of various gems, weapons, and money, probably collected from various times in the past as offerings to the Lich. The group scavenged what they needed, before proceeding onward.

“If I didn’t holler than how was Yorik supposed to know that there was trouble?” Corum asked Tia. The petite thief simply glared at him. “You don’t have to scare the living daylights out of us in order to provide a warning,” she responded. “Anyway, a simple danger would have been fine.”

Corum didn’t like that answer. It was his calling card, his stigmata, it was Yorik, all of the above, and below for that matter. He simply shook his head as he went to investigate the old housing place of the Lich. “You know Barry,” Corum mumbled. “You have to wonder sometimes about women. If you don’t tell them something they get upset. Then when you do tell them something, they get made at you. I don’t get it.”

The youth looked inside, and spotted an intriguing black necklace. Hell, he had never worn jewelry, so decided to take it and put it on. The others had already retreated toward the center of the room where the other passageways stood. Corum turned to walk toward them, and suddenly felt a constriction around his neck. The further away he walked the tighter the necklace became until he was getting uncomfortable. Of course he didn’t have the sense to walk back toward the coffin, and simply stood there as his face started to turn colors. He did the only thing that came to mind. “IT’S..uggggghh CLOBB…ERIN.ugghhhTIME!”

Damn was that hard, but it had the effect he needed as Tia stormed her way toward him ready to bash in his head. Corum quickly pointed to his neck, and Tia simply tilted her head to the side wondering what kind of prank Corum was playing on her. The others had turned by now, and seeing no danger wondered if Corum was merely playing a trick on them, or not.

Tia’s eyes suddenly bulged wide as she realized what was happening. She yelled at Jade, who quickly made her way toward the duo, along with the rest of the adventurers. After a few chosen words, the necklace started to expand, and eventually fell off of Corum’s neck. The skull-staff wielder took in a big breath of air, and was about to thank Jade for helping him, but Tia interjected.

“That was pretty stupid Corum!” Tia stated. “Don’t you know any better? You’re supposed to have those things checked out first before you put them on. You could have been killed. Now, c’mon on.”

Tia turned away, and Corum simply stuck his tongue out at her. She quickly turned, only to see Corum simply standing there. Well, he still didn’t get it, but he wasn’t about to leave empty handed. He looked inside the coffin, this time finding a tiny broach. He didn’t think a tiny broach could do much damage so he pinned it onto his tunic. Since nothing happened, he simply joined the others.

“I suggest we head this way,” Erlic stated, while taking one of the passageways. There was enough light to see, and the guild master check the way for traps, thankful that he found none. They came to another fairly large room with two tapestries, one on each opposing wall. At another wall were three large baskets that were covered. The floor had been made out of square marble tiles, and it seemed quite unusual to have such a decoration in a place below the ground. There were no other marking on the walls or ceiling, and no other passageways other than the one they had just come thru.

Corum was the last to arrive inside the room, and he stayed by the opening. Everyone seemed to be looking around the room when Corum spotted something come out of…..the tile? Wait a minute, the tile had slowly lifted on one side, and a not so small snake started to slither its way out of its supposed hiding place, just a few feet away from Tia. To hell with it, he thought as he screamed, “IT’S CLOBBERIN TIME!” as he lunged toward the elf, knocking her to the ground, and away from the snake. Before Tia had even a chance to interject, Corum took her head, and aimed it at the snake.

“OH!” was all the thief had to say before pulling out some throwing daggers.

Corum was the first one to start battling the snake, and it went rather well. He was able to kill it fairly quickly, and easily. And that’s when a louder hiss reverberated through the room. As the group turned, the baskets started to wiggle a bit, and the lids were thrown off, as three large king cobra snakes made an appearance.

Erlic quickly had his weapons drawn, and moved closer to the one snake. He kept his eyes on the glaring pupils of the slithering creature, ready to make any movement away from the creature if allowed. He was aware that these creatures attacked anything that moved. If one were to remain still, they wouldn’t attack so quickly. The guild master stared into the eyes of the snake as it rose slowly finally realizing there was a presence before it. Just as it was ready to strike, Erlic lunged into action, slicing both swords through the snake, and severing that portion from its body. He quickly jumped back, and was rewarded to see the snake totally lifeless.

He turned to see if the others needed help.
