It was with slow strides and a growing weight in her heart that the palomino mare moved into the Isle. Immediately, her senses were assaulted with a cachophony of noises, a plethora of smells, and horrid sights she had hoped never to see again. So war was upon them again. Not a question, a blunt statement of fact. The gilded matriarch had dearly hoped that Firelight would have reconsidered after her visit. A visit that Tori had kept her mouth shut about. What purpose would it serve? None it seemed.

Bright green eyes caught sight of Takara's rounded figure. Pride and happiness swelled in Tori's heart at the sight. She was going to be a grandmother! Picking up the pace, she drew even with the gold-splotched Queen. Brushing her muzzle against the young mare's shoulder, she offered both greeting and comfort. It was rough watching your mate fight for his life. She knew, she had been there many times before. Worry overtook her placid features as the realization of the situation sunk in. Takara was pregnant. There was a raid. Hex was occupied and couldn't protect his mate. Cold fear settled in Tori's stomach. As much as she hated ordering her daughter-in-law around, it seemed the situation warranted it.

"Takara, love. Go to your mother. Watch over Genesis. I'll stay here."

A motherly affection shone in her light eyes and a gentle shove was given to her son's beloved mate. With Takara safe, Hex could concentrate. Perhaps this would be a fading memory when Takara brought the Light heir into this world.
