Still have no display. The hard disk boots up perfectly and can be shut down normally by following the right keyboard sequence, but no display.
I substituted the newer clock battery from my 5200CD (with 5400MB) which has 4 volts versus 1/4 volts (575) from volt tester. Still no go.
I am the owner of an a/b without J78 and J79. I looked over the entire board including taking off that small metal shield that covers about 1/4 if the a/b to no avail.
I don't see why a 575 MB with about 8 megs RAM (forgot to check before the upgrade) as well as a VRAM SIMM (ONLY 1 BANK AVAILABLE & I DON'T REMEMBER ITS SIZE) should make a difference. If the system boot up perfectly before the (botched?) upgrade wouldn't the monitor turn on afterwards? The amount of VRAM should not effect it after the modification should it? Any ideas?
From my first cut with my sharp knife and hack saw blade, I determined with my cheap continuity tester (light with 2 AA batteries model) that there was an open circuit between 8 and 9) However later, the tester light went on between 8-10. As well I found out that the light went on when I tested pins 7-8, 7-9,7-10,8-9, and 9-10. Hope that this is normal?
You mentioned that the a/b can sometimes be misaligned when the board is connected to the card connector but it fits snugly with little or no lateral movement.
Any ideas? Is it time to go back to the status quo? The adventure continues.
