glenn you talk all that shit about racing somebody with someone else car.what point did you prove by building that big old 477 that only ran 10.12 in a big tire car?it took you 4 years to borrow parts and tires an you still couldn't afford to keep it. now you go around the track talking all that shit about when you had something. real men don't borrow parts, like tires and fogger systems and sell them because you broke.be a man not a over grown pussy, i would advise your momma to pop her titty out of your mouth bbbiiitttch. jive ass ho.

This is my first visit to this site. It is a shame but understandable why so many people think racers project a trash image. After reading that message I don't think I will visit this track after all. I thought Drag Racers had more class than that. The next time you use solvent to clean a part on you engine, try using a little as mouthwash. Soap and Water won't do it.
Thanks

pro tree -- Brian L., 15:38:45 11/27/03 Thu
If any of you hardcore drag racers noticed, a pro tree is not an instant green! To put it more simply, there is a preset amount of time from when the amber lights go out and when the green comes on. If it was an instant green then you could leave on the yellow and still be sleeping. This is due the fact that a car takes a certain amount of time to move after you stab the throtle. The amber lights come on before the green to allow you to anticipate the green.
P.S. The whooptie's evil twin is in the makeings. It will be even uglier and more sick than the whooptie. NO POWER ADDERS on her. Let's see how the lab rat will cry about this one.

A little more input. -- Andy V., 11:37:11 11/24/03 Mon
I will go with whatever everyone agrees on as a whole. I only chose the NMCA format, because it works for them and I happen to like it. I did not suggest a N/A big block class to run my car in it. I want to run with Mali, X, JC and all the others that will soon come to the class. I'll also be spraying my car, so no need to fear anyone with nitrous. As far as money spent on any car or motor, the upper class cars are going to be costly, no matter what you run. The correct way to handle the weight issue is to do a pound per cubic inch rule, and we do not have the equipment to inforce such a rule. In my opinion, a tenth for each 100 pounds is akin to bracket racing. NMCA generally uses 7.5 or 8 pounds per cubic inch for power adder cars, and 6 pounds per cubic inch with N/A cars. I am in agreeance with JC to place a minimum weight on the top gun class. I also feel all cars need to have full interior, running lights, inspection, tags and title. The race cars that want to join can be an outlaw class. I would like to run my car in top gun. Why dont we have an open vote, for all members and spectators, to see what the majority wants. In the end, it has to be something we all can live with. Everyone will have to give and take a little. Feedback???

eddie take all this info we have fed you and lay it out . we will just need to pick on one set of rules that are layed out. but do not have to many stipulations to make it confusing. but i still say no times. everybody will know where they fit. and they can make there own race. hey i think i have said this before . last time i post about it. also i think there should be a timeline set this year to the rules to be made. so come 2004 they are in stone and no way to change. what is writen is it. come 2005 they can be changed again if needed. later hoghead. i have to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's all about streetable horsepower to me. -- Frenchman, 11:40:02 11/25/03 Tue
Maybe Mike's turbo'd/ intercooled Imp is putting out more hp than X is. Maybe X is putting out more than 1000 hp. Maybe if Labmouse had his powertrain in a Vega, it would be in the 9's.
Power/weight ratio is what makes a car impressive. No need to have a big inch motor in a big engine bay, simply put a potent s.b. in a tin can.
The bottom line is: The entry should not be limited to a displacement. They should race with any engine that they wish.
Those archaic NMCA rules were "in" when nitrous oxide was the predominant power-adder; a large displacement motor would certainly have advantage over a smaller motor with the same calibrated "squeeze." The larger motor "absorbs" big hits with relative ease placing them to a great advantage.
Today, there are power-adders (turbo(s) and centrifugal blowers) that can handily overpower the limits of nitrous-enhanced, big inch motors; maybe not witnessed out of the 60 ft timers but definitely when the tires begin roll-out. As soon as some aftermarket guru figures a way to control the boost at the starting line, cars like mine won't have a chance; too bad they (gurus) haven't figured it out yet.
So one more time. No displacement handicap, only weight handicap.

Consider this. -- Andy V., 22:42:29 11/25/03 Tue
Your opinion is well respected French. However, earlier, just this year, a guy from Canada upped the MPH and ET records in Superstreet with a nitroused small cubic inch BBC in a late model Firebird. This was done against highly refined turbo combinations that seemed to be dominating the class in similar cars. What I am trying to point out, is no one has eclipsed the true potential of ANY combination. That is the technical exercise that I love the most about this sport. Every time someone breaks a record, it is almost inevitably said, that no one will ever beat that. But year after year, the determined racers find a way to do it. Some bend the rules, some use their heads and find power no one else has. The NMCA rules are not archiac. The are still very much in effect. They are based on how much horsepower can be built per cubic inch. A larger inch motor (given all other things equal) will always make more power. Put a small block in your car and throw weight in it to get the weight back to where it is with the 572(?), then see how fast it is. See how it compares to your car the way it is now. Not much competition is it? This is the way that I forsee the rules. No matter what is decided, in the end, there will always be "Groups" of cars that will compete with each other. You with JC, Mali, me, etc... Jen with Amy, Dave, Hooptie, etc... The rules are almost non relevant, right. We are all going to race (even without rules if we wanted), and we are all going to get faster and faster. We were all street racers at one time or another. There were never any rules in street racing. You showed up with whatever you had. Negotiations for car lengths was between drivers. That was it! I too respect weight and how it effects the performance of the car (not the engine). Yes, a heavy car with respectable numbers (such as yours) is very impressive! If you were to show up to street race, then you'd be racing whatever the other guy had. Even if it was a V8 on a skateboard. When we show up in Unice, it is to race, whatever we have. Regardless of what kind of heads we use, or how much nitrous or how many turbos, or even if you can drive it to the track! That is all very cool stuff, and it does not go without recognition. But at the end of the day, the fastest car is the fastest car. Flyweight cars will be put in a racecar class. I have to agree with JC on a minimum weight for each class. OK Chris Rock... I'm shutting up!

Dec 6 -- Tib, 19:58:12 11/24/03 Mon
I have a question about the Dec 6 race. Why is the start time at 6pm? Isn't that kind of late. I personally live in Texas and would like to come, but it is a 3 hour trip one way pulling a trailer. I just wanted to know if maybe 12pm or 1pm would be better for those who have a long drive back home. Not to mention that running during the day whould help the fast cars from getting lose from the dew that come in at night. Just a thought. I really like the sight. Keep up the good work.

MY OPINION -- HOGHEAD, 00:37:29 11/24/03 Mon
First thing i think if you want to have decent racing. have a breakdown of 1 sec between each class. and after 9.0 and lower you are just totally on your own to make the race.i bought my car to run down the strip, not for a particular class and will not or do not desire to build for a certain class. not that anybody is asking me too.but i fill it is run what you brung in that et and the driver who is top dog can make his own race to the challenger.cause you going to have fat tire cars and skinny tire cars running against each other.no times shown and everybody knows if your bluffing in that class.if you are thought to be then EDDIE IS TOP MAN he says the race does not happen, that the other contender must step up to next class.PRO TREE OR INSTANT GREEN, and run it from there or you can bargin for the move or whatever. I am spending to much money to be showing what my car is going to do and if you want to find out it will be for some cash. i am not a betting man but i will be looking for some reimburstment for my money spent when i come back out.also who cares if it is big block or small block you can spray or not. look at some 6 cyl running in the 9;s i seen it before and where would he be against bb and sb engines. set et;s run in that class and race your race and make best of it. if you cannot outrun him then do what it takes to make your race more compatible.my double nickel on this. i know i am just a member but EDDIE everybody comes to you so do what you feel is right and then go from there.2 call outs and if you cannot make them than you loose the spot no matter what and new challengers for that spot. no spot to be given without a race.

classes -- alan, 12:18:36 11/24/03 Mon
how about a format like hotrodgossip? 5 classes
outlaw- backhalf or 10.5 w race cars
top gun- have a minimum wieght on this class
1 street king
2 street king
3 street king- all motor class
everyone knows or will know what class they can run in. and you could still have the 1st thru 4th places in each class. that way everyone that reads the page and goes to the races would know the cars and what class they race in. this debate can go on and on. and everyone will have different ideas so like andy says put it up to vote and see what people want to be in and see.
[ Edit | View ]
One more thing. -- Andy V., 11:43:43 11/24/03 Mon
I like French's idea of a "drive and race" class as I mentioned in an earlier post. I definately want to race with a pro tree also!
[ Edit | View ]
Rules. -- Frenchman, 05:42:54 11/24/03 Mon
Vehicle weight is most important. Someone with a most modest bank account can run as fast as anybody else if he installs a V8 engine on a roller skate. IE: a small block in a lightweight foreign car.
Protesters need to ashcan their current combo and build something else if money prohibits them from being on the top.
I say throw in the simple weight handicap and let 'em fly! That would be .100 sec/ 100 lbs of vehicular weight; simple as can be. Unlimited displacement, nitrous, turbo(s), superchargers, and nitromethane, propane, benzene, xylene, toluene, or nasty farts allowed as fuel.
Then have a true street class with a ride & drive.

frenchman- your the only one wanting a weight handicap. its your fault you built a heavy car. you have more motor than everyone else and at the present time have ran the fastest times so why the wieght handicap? oh i know.. is it that you know your time is limited and you will not be the fastest? or is it that your 572 ci fuel injected, laptop computered, nitrous assisted, pump gas motor cant hang with the smaller motors? not everyone can afford to build a big inch motor like you and have to build a lighter car.(like me) if you want the weight break.. then there needs to be a handicap for the guy with the smaller motor also. ie.- candy 3550 lbs with a 468 (what i have heard.. not sure) so what kind of handicap you gonna give the smaller motor guy (that cant afford a big motor.. not saying bryan cant afford it) that weighes the same as you? that .10 you want can be given to to the samller motor guy also.. like .10 second per inch of motor smaller than yours. lets see 572-468=104 inches @ .10=1.04 seconds.. hey that would even you and candy up right? now you are bracket racing right? its street racing in a safe enviroment..(at the track) and street racing has and always will be run what you brung!
maybe you need to put your car on a diet to get some more et out of it!
also on another note. street racing has been around long before the track and there wasnt any tree. it was a drop of a rag, or drop of arms. and now in the later days most people at night use a flashlite. so i like the protree. it would also elimate the redlighting.. unless someone gets really anxious. this would help out the lose of spot due to redlighting. and i also agree that with all the et indexs it will be hard to keep up with. make 4 or 5 classes and let the racing begin. keep it simple.

Alan, You don't make sense. -- Frenchman, 10:16:12 11/24/03 Mon
The way that X has been running as of late, it doesn't seem that I need to put her on a diet. Do I?
I was trying to be fair by maintaining even power/weight ratios. But you go ahead and bring your roller skate out there and I'll bust your ass just as easily.
You don't have a clue as to how conservative X's tune-up is right now... Go back to the nursery and cry with the other infants.

french- what dont you understand -- alan, 11:00:04 11/24/03 Mon
your the one that has brought up the weight handicap.. can you not read??? how does it not make sense? i said that your car is the fastest so why you need the handicap? all i was saying if you get a handicap what about the guys with smaller motors than you have but weigh the same or more than you? are you or anyone else gonna give them a handicap when they want to race. it all comes down to who has the most money to be able to go the fastest.
now a minimum weight requirement would be good for the top gun class. but still run it as.. run what u brung rules.

classes -- J,C., 09:24:25 11/24/03 Mon
Agree on keeping it simple deal. With all these classes proposed, is there enough racers to fill them at this time?
As there are more people wanting to run in the top gun classes, a weight minimum will be needed.
A suggestion, to make it worth the effort, is every racer in a class anty up 5-10-20 bucs? to race, run qualifing rounds, run them and winner take all. A little compensation for time and money spent.

She is right the time brackets w/no restrictions....no limits...you get faster you just move up in class...any 1 w/ any combo could join your club w/out taking parts off of their car or buying new 1's to fit into a given class...Its gonna be hard enough to find cars that fit into dif classes and restrictions...BB,BB w/power adder,BB w/1 power adder ,BB w/2 power adder,BB w/ K&N air filter, and SB w all of the above...say you got a bb w/1 power class say 5 or 6 cars are in it...you may only have 1or 2 show up on race day...ie.work,broke car, broke ass, grandmaw came to visit or what ever...+ every 1 is gonna want a class to fit their combo into... some 1 will be unhappy and claim some 1 else got special treatment..(more grief fo eddie) p.s SHAME SHAME SHAME on you ANDY V for even thinking about an all motor class ...how many people have the $ to build or have built a motor to run w/that monster you got....then again ...thats 1 way to keep the three red cars from spraying you off the track...give what jen is saying some thought

ok , here's a thought -- Jen, 21:38:45 11/23/03 Sun
I thought we are starting an "outlaw" class for next year.
Let the "outlaw" class be 9.99 and faster. No limits on motor, power adders, tires, etc....
10:00-10:99 Top Guns! No limits- No restrictions.
11:00-11:99 Super Street! No limits-No restrictions.
12:00-12:99 Super Stock! No limits-No restrictions.
so on and so fourth.
It's just a suggestion for the outlaw class because alot of people are gonna definately be sandbaggin, and wise racers should. When the big fish are reeled in, then and only then will the badasses actually show what they can/can't do! Anyone that knows .5 of someone elses times knows whether or not they got what it takes or not. I can tell ya right now, mali may not EVER leave the top gun class....Sandbaggin is all part of racing! Who's ever heard of an honest racer??? or an honest race??? What's really dumb is how the hell can u have a freakin' Heads up Racing Assoc. when no damn body runs a freaking PRO TREE???
That's more like the bracket shit! We joined this club to be part of Heads Up, anyone can go anywhere and bracket race.
The only rule that this club needs is :
1. all classes run what ya brung-hope ya brung enough!
2. all races will be run on PRO TREE!
3. if there's a et difference big enough to negotiate, then that's up to the individual's themselves.
That's alot easier on everyone, especially those who are trying to stay on top of each race, keeping up with who did what, who's got what, and when/where they did it...
Keep it simple and less confusing. Stick to something, and stop changing the shit everytime someone bitches/cries about it being unfair. ex: labmouse vs. hoopty. there should be a damn negotiation there between those 2 guys, it should not involve this club!!! It's basically none of our business what they do. or with anyone else. As long as they are paid members, meet the living requirements, and make a call out, that should be all that's needed or required by this club!
I'm not bitching, and I don't intend for this to sound that way. Eddie I understand that you are working your ass off trying to make this thing grow. Us as well as other members did not join this club for the purpose of pleasing crowds. I'm just saying that this is "our" club as a whole group, let us do what we (as members)wanna do and agree upon, and if there's a crowd to watch fine, if not, oh well, we'll all still be doing this shit with/without spectators. Racing is an ego thing, not a trophy thing. It's bragging rights mostly, always has been/always will. Whether or not we even run for trophies half the members don't really care. Yes, it's nice to have sponsors who put up $ to give us racers something to show for our work done, and we all sincerely appreciate that. But my point is, that we as racers, will continue to do this with/without you all.
Well, sorry this is such a long post, didn't plan on it being that way. Just wanting to remind everyone what racing is all about. So many people get caught up in the bullshit, until it totally takes all the fun away from even doing it anymore. Maybe that's what happened to bluestang??? Maybe that's why all the haters post the bs, instead of joining??? Who knows???
I understand that with any club, organization, etc... there's always rules involved, but my point is to KEEP IT REAL! Keep it simple, and let the rough side drag!

Why would someone sandbag for a spot??? -- eddie, 22:32:37 11/23/03 Sun
All this is a pride and joy deal...Why would someone sandbag for pride and joy??????
By sand bagging i mean letting out the gas to win a spot..
Not spraying or putting small pills in isnt sandbagging its running what you feel comphy with and not hurting your equiptment.
Allowing to hold one spot keeps someone from running motor or a small shot and holding a place to someone holding one spot and jetting up the pills or turning up the boost to hold two places.
I like to see pro trees but many members perfered a regualr tree...maybe they were scared of the pro tree i dont know...changes are hard to adjust to maybe that was the dilema behind that.
now my thoughts on the ten second and faster classes goes as follows.
once you break the 10 second barrier its hard to pick up "tenths" at a time without really breaking the bank... thats why i proposed the 1/2 second break downs from 10.99 and faster.
thats my ideas anyhow.

ok -- Jen, 22:59:59 11/23/03 Sun
I'm not arguing with you or anything. Just bringin up several diff points/ideas.
My point of saying that Mali, (or another car) could sandbag forever b/c we may not want every one who reads this board to know what she runs. I'm not saying that to be a pain in the butt. Trust me, we know damn well how hard it is to knock those tenths off. But the et bracket that is currently in place for top guns ain't gonna get it in future due to that fact. Plus, it will be more cars in it I believe therefore more spots will be filled in each class. I don't think 1 person in 1 vehicle should be allowed to hold multi spots. I don't see no probs with 1 driver holding multi spots as long as it's in different vehicle.
My point I was trying to make about the break down for et's is that .49 is too small. There should be bigger time frame there. Especially with the bigger cars.

why more gap with the faster cars...
Frenchy runs 870s andy will be there also...hell the goat probably too after seeing go in san antonio.
now that will leave a 0ne second gap between them and candy and wildstang.
for candy and wild stang to have a chance they would have to spend alot of money to step up there motors.
breaking down the faster classes will give them and others a chance at the top of a class also.
thats just my opinion on the situation

Eddie all the classes look good but some of our members will be getting in the high tens pretty fast and they will have to be running with 9 second cars I don't think it is fair to them. 9.50 - 10.99 thats a pretty wide spread Maybe 9.50 to 10.49 for that class should stay the same or something like it. it is a staring point and looks like the idea is there and getting responces to fine tune it.
i see many 950-10.00 cars coming out soon...top guns @ 999 and faster will put #1 a-3 way ahead of everyone.
11.00-11.99 is a perfect spread
may be do all single didgit classes in half second intervals and all double diget classes in one second intervals will keep the competion clean and fun.
now ive been getting emails from guys with non titled cars...not street cars...
do we want to allow them in to so that we can grow as a club??????
If everything is based by et what does it matter is what is being asked to me.
hell them old racecars aint got nothing to gain by beating a street car but if a street car wins hell they better hide there faces...lol

to much stuff to police -- eddie, 13:54:11 11/23/03 Sun
Are you gonna weigh all the cars...are you gonna handle all the policing of the rules? last year it was a bitch with the few rules we had.
They have a maximum of 20 cars per race on average..houston has how many cars there?
3 years ago i went down to joe goldens garage and we all sat down to start the organization of that group in the houston area..we had 70 some odd racers there but it still took 2 years from that point to get going.
Again if everything is based on et and its run what you brung we can have a blast and allow any car to run

I feal that it dont matter what you have or what you did to produce the et your car is performing.
FTSA has payouts so that gives people the reason to spend $ to out run the next guy...We have spots on a website to highlight peoples accomplishments.
I know you have come up with ideas and dont mean it to have made you feel like im shooting them all down but i feel we need to get as less amount of rules as possible so that everyone can play... to do this we need to have the ets clases as close as possible where that someone can just add more nitrous, add more compreesion, swap heads, or finally get their dream motor built so that they can move up the ladder

ROLL BARS - Mandatory in all cars running 11.49 or quicker....ROLL CAGE - Mandatory in all cars running quicker than 10.99 seconds or faster
than 135 mph

The pro tree thing: Why is it that members get on here and complain about the rules and tattle tale about so and so not following the rules, after the fact, and then when an issue comes up to bite their asses, they are defended???
I was scared to death of a pro tree at first, I ain't gonna lie. I practiced it, and now nobody wants to run it because of whatever reasons, when it was specifically set in the rules from the beginning., not to mention all the trading of spots due to damn redlighting!!! What gives people??? and, since I play by the rules, if I was to challenge someone, but I wanted a pro tree and never got a race, would that be fair??? No!
Again, I'm not griping to or about anyone. Just seems to me that we go to all this effort to try and make things fair for everyone, and it still don't work. So, ya'll do whatever ya'll think is fair! Majority rules right??
Once the new rules are in place, then we'll see if we even have a place to qualify in.
Andy's got a good point. Do like NMCA so people will know what to expect. Build their cars based on the rules, then play! or, we could do like NHRA build the cars based on the rules that change every week. And, u have all these low budget racers who already can't afford to play that'll surely make them happy.

Tell me what yall think? -- Andy V., 22:16:37 11/23/03 Sun
I happen to agree with Jen on this one. I think it should be kept simple. All the ET's look like some kinda bracket race or something. I like the NMCA format. We could intigrate it into our program with small changes. Pro Street could be our Top Gun, Super street could be run whatcha brung, but limited to 10.5 tires, True street could be run whatcha brung, but it has to be driven all the way to the track, Short of those classes we could have a big block N/A class and big block with one power adder class. Same with small block, one class N/A the other one power adder. All other cars that dont fit a class could do a call out challenge for fun and bragging rights. The faster cars will put on the show and the others can dive in and do challenges with their friends or non friends. At the end of the day everyone gets to race! I almost forgot, Outlaw class can be all the racecar guys that want to join in (like Todd). Is this complicated enough to be simple (lol)? Hey French, your check is in the mail (LOL).

Things to remember -- eddie, 17:29:57 11/23/03 Sun
There was a terrible crash in Sealy this weekend and it reminds me how much a cage is needed in bad times..
After passing the finish line 1 car crossed the center line and tagged the other in the rear quarter panel at over 145 mph which flipped it on its roof. The car then skidded back across the lane to the right and caught the grass and stated barrell rolling up on the front end. The car finally rested on its roof. Adams was cut out of the cage with the jaws of life and transported to Houston via Life flight. Later in the evening, LSRP received a message that Adams was OK but going through all the procedures at the hospital. The medical staff, LSRP, the wreckers onhand, and the area Fire Dept. staff did an excellent job of taking care of this terrible accident. The greatest thing is T. Adams is alright, the rollcage did its job, and the car can always be replaced. Great job guys and you are all to be commended for the service you did.
Just something to think about as we keep going faster and faster.

Well French, I finally figured out why the weight of your car changes so often. It changes in direct proportion to the swelling of your head. I bet your pegging out 4500# by now. HA HA HA HA HA!!!! If you keep talking bad enough, maybe no one will show, then you wont have to race anyone. Was the 1200 HP statement supposed to scare ANYONE off? I'll bet you feel really confident that surely NO ONE would drive 450 miles to race you. Not to worry, when you get to the track and you find us all ANXIOUSLY waiting for you, then you can always claim that there is something wrong with little x and not have to run anyone. It's OK, we'll understand. We are already expecting it.

Your right French, my "straight motor maiden pass" is no match for your huge nitrous dose. I'll give you credit for discovering that all on your own. It does not matter what times my car ran then, because they are irrelevant. I cant wait to race you. It is going to be sooooooooo gooooood, HA HA! We gonna do a motor/motor pass (to define humility to you), then a nitrous/nitrous pass (icing on the cake). Decimation is fixin to take on a whole new meaning. One more thing, you better take them Texas boys serious. I've been to Sealy Tx. and watched em run. THEY AINT KIDDIN A BIT!!!!! Better yet, dont take em seriously. I kinda like to watch you dig your own pit of embarrassment. You are not going to be able to handle me, let alone them Texas boys. You never cease to amaze me.

Big Chief Little x
Motor only - 9.51 10.50
MPH - 146 127
Nitrous - mystery 8.81
MPH - mystery 155
The Big Chief nitrous passes will soon no longer be a mystery! You may now use your calculative mind to see that I have 350 HP on you before any nitrous starts to flow with my smaller engine. Pound for pound of nitrous used, I will always have 350 HP on you! Your homework assignment is to simply try your best to understand that. I think you can do it, though I have been wrong about you before.
PS - 10.50s is pathetic for a 572 AT ANY WEIGHT!

X went 10.15 @ 134 mph w/ no juice, tight converter, no brake, 3.70 gears on true 10.5" tires, with the T-tops removed while listening to Civil War from GunsnRoses, with a heat-soaked engine while inhaling 92 octane Shell pump gas. A cool-down with an icepack would have put it in the 9.90's, snap, just like that. Try me.

More to the claim than meets the eye! -- Andy V., 20:24:53 11/21/03 Fri
Lets not mention the numerous bottles of octane boost added to the pump gas, or the bump (or two) of the nitrous button. At least it was straight motor for "part" of the pass. Your 3:70 gears are perfect for a 29" or 30" tall tire and nitrous, so dont act like they are some kind of handycap. Do you even have the T-tops for your car anymore? I have never seen the car without them. If it hurts you to run without them, then be sure and bring them on the 6th so there won't be any excuses. Be sure and bring plenty of ice packs, too. As far as your weight problem... well, that will just always be a problem with you. I will be glad to try you on motor. Lets line em up big boy! Although, there is no way you will be able to resist spraying my straight motor in order for you to score a win. But, go go ahead and spray me. It will be interesting to see what happens, he he he .

Challenger from 450 miles. -- Frenchman, 07:54:53 11/20/03 Thu
Well, well, well. I must admit that I'm honored to know that a challenger has to haul his entry from a 450 mile radius just to beat an Avoyelles Parish, coon-ass built street car; that makes the whole thing better!
But please tell me, Mr Donald Trump Big Pockets. Is Mr. Bill Gates going to be accompanying you on the trip? Are you aware that your Gulfstream G5 corporate jet will not be able to land at the Eunice municipal airport? You may have to use New Orleans International, then charter a limousine, then drive to Alex, La. where the cars will be weighed, then driven approx 80 miles south to the dragstrip.
There's a fairly nice casino located in Kinder, La; maybe 25 miles away. You could have morning tea, play a round of golf, and still have time to sit in the High Rollers area to do a little gambling.... if you have any $ left after our race.
Send my love to

You didn't inform as to your departure location. Are you arriving by horseback with one of those big, Texas 10 gallon hats?
As far as your profound statement, "But beware, I don't run for chump change." hmmmm... Please pardon me but that sounds like you are wealthy and wish to wager. Maybe that's the way us dumb Cajun people from Avoyelles Parish interpret that statement.
OOOhhhh, those Texas Boys! They're sooo bad! Run for Cover, Y'all!... their horse is about to take a dump!

Real Streetcar Callout. -- Frenchman, 19:24:46 11/18/03 Tue
After some thought, I thought that I'd invite (challenge) all Cenla streetcars to a Real Streetcar Shootout. This will be part of the 06 Dec event. All contenders meet at the I-49 truck Plaza, weigh their cars, fill up with any fuel that you want. (I'll take 93 pump gas, thank you), and drive their car to the track in Eunice. Allow a 30 min cooldown, refuel with anything you like, then start the eliminations.
The heavier cars will receive a .100 sec handicap advantage for every 100 lbs of heft.
Hopefully, this will conclude the drama. Any takers? This would include everybody and prove REAL STREETABILITY, and exclude real streetcar impersonators. Heck, we could make a jackpot purse out of it. All contenders ante up say $20 and the winner takes the pot. BUT YOU'VE GOT TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE TRACK, and if you fall behind the trailing escort (a designated vehicle travelling the posted speed limit) for any reason, then you are DQ'd!

I have a better idea, Lets start a new "Real Street" class with a bunch of elaborate rules that fit Frenchies car. Then you will be in a class that you can dominate. Then would you be happy French??? You are more than welcome to drive your car to the track if you wish. I am sure you will get recognition for driving to the track, running 8s and driving home. No one else will be able to say they did it, and you will have another feather in your hat. No bashing here, just an idea.

Sence you big into level playing fields, I'll play your game! You are big into facts, figures and formulas lets come up with one. You into the time per pound thing, We will both fillup with 93 and drive posted speed limit. Take the weight of our cars, Then factor in that your packing a 572ci,alum headed custom built big block with a 2000 cfm lap top controled fuel injected system, I'm running a 355 with old stock cast heads and a 700 cfm Carb. You spraying what? 500 maybe 600 shot to me at No spray, I know you must have a formula for all this, Don't you? Give me the spot you would have to and we will play chase. And there would a damn good chance you would fall to a mid to 12 sec car and SO WHAT. Yea, its really more trouble than its worth ant it? So lets stop trying to come up with races and formulas only used at Frenchman racing and NASA and just give the people what they really want to see on the 6th and thats X and Big Cheif HOOK IT UP!!!!!!! Heads up, Stright up. No B/S just lay it down and find out who should wear the crown as Cenla's badest street car. Because at the end of the day no matter if it can drive 5 miles or 5000 miles on 87 out of the pump or 114 out of the jug and its has a lic plate and a inspection sticker its a street car.

You are correct. Drop your guard for a moment and think. Your car, albeit not one of the fastest overall, is still a true street car that could pass a legit streetability test as outlined by one of the largest event organizations in the country, and still post a respectable #. That's what the Pro Edelbrock Series tries to accomplish; delineation of street car vs. race car.

YOUR RACE -- HOGHEAD, 23:12:30 11/18/03 Tue
Fench does your challenge sound logical. NOT TO MOST OF US, BUT WHAT I CANNNOT UNDERSTAND IS YOU HAVE TO HAVE SO MUCH POWER ADDITIVE TO GET DOWN THE TRACK. NOW THAT BIG ASS ENGINE YOU HAVE IS REALLY NOT THAT IMPRESSIVE. IT LOOKS BIG SOUNDS BIG BUT CANNOT RUN FOR HECK UNLESS IT HAS THE JUICE.THEN YOU COME UP WITH THESE REDICULOUS RULES TO RACE. WHAT I SUGGEST IS GET TO THE TRACK RUN YOUR FLAVOR OF FUEL THEN RACE. NOW I KNOW THAT I AM SPEAKING OUT OF TURN CAUSE ALL I CAN DO IS PUT SOME GAS TO MINE TO RUN WHAT YOU DO ON MOTOR. BUT I GUESS WHAT PUMPS ME UP IS THE FACT THAT YOU CAN RUN TO THE TRACK RUN BACK HOME AND GO GET GROCERIES WITH THAT THING.JUST AMAZES THE HELL OUT OF ME WHAT YOU CAN DO. BUT MY THINKING IS WHAT IF YOU RUN OUT OF POWER ADDITIVE AND SOME LITTLE SMALL BLOCK JUST CRACKS THAT ASS. NOW WHAT YOU GONNA DO.NOT PICKING ON SMALL BLOCKS HERE. THAT IS WHY MOST OF US THINK BIG POWER FIRST FROM ENGINE THEN SQUEEZE THE EXTREEM POWER WITH THE NOS. NOW I HOPE TO BE AT THE TRACK THE 6TH SO I CAN WATCH YOU RUN ANDY V. MOTOR ON MOTOR AND I WILL PAY FOR YOUR FLAVOR OF RACE GAS. IS IT NOT 93OCTANE. THIS WAY IT IS NO EXPENSE TO YOU. UP TO 5 GALLONS. HAVE A NICE DAY.

Why suggest a "Real Streetcar Race?" -- Frenchman, 12:13:01 11/19/03 Wed
Very simple, actually. There's alot of you crying about the grandma car, "Hooptie from Hell" and IROC-X being pound for pound the baddest in Cenla. It seems that you just can't take the fact that these cars, while packing a proponderance of mass kick your ass.
The rules outlined were not "mine" but the Pro Edelbrock Fastest Street Car Drag Racing Series', the fastest-growing, largest event in existence. There are several divisions; the MSD Ignition TRUE STREET class is the one that I outlined. I threw in a weight handicap because of the crybabies out there that were claiming that X is lighter than its competitors. (We can easily "erase" that part of the rules since I conjured this one, simply out of response)
But please advise why the rest of the United States can abide by them (nationally accepted rules) but so many of you, entrapped by your denial, have a tough time with it.
If your response is, "Well our board has already made its own set of rules!" then I would submit to you that there are lots of holes in our local rules. This proves evident by all of your crying about the Hooptie. Some of the cars in this club are legitimate streetable cars that put down impressive #'s and some are not. This is a fact that will never be palatable with some of you... stupid, you are.
My challenge still stands as per the most highly respected, established rules in the United States... the Pro Edelbrock, MSD TRUE STREET rules. Any takers?
You can check 'em out yourselves at www.fasteststreetcar.com.
Maybe we should consider a name change... like Alexandria RACE CAR Kings... in lieu of Alexandria Street Kings.
And as far as anybody outrunning X on Dec 6th w/ a legitimate street car... Bring your car and your money. I'll have plenty with me, FOOLS.
Maybe you can buy Andrew Leblanc's rail dragster, install 4 turn signals, have a State Trooper stamp it as a trailer, install a license plate and your nitroused BB motor, and "try" to take out my 3500 lb (w/o driver) Iroc-X.
And if this is what you really want me to say, "I challenge Andy V's Big Chief headed, high C.R. race motored 69 Camaro".... YOU GOT THAT! BRING IT ON!... for whatever small challenge it is.
And as far as "Bozo the Clown"... I shouldn't even have to address that challenge as it is no challenge.
In fact, I'll run any true 10.5" car that you can summon. But please, offer nothing more than the challenge. Jen, please don't volunteer your knowledge of racing to this phantom contender... he'll stereotype all La. residents as "Dumb-Ass Hillbillies"

I do understand but maybe I can help you understand -- donnie, 18:23:00 11/19/03 Wed
First let me say, I admire and applaud your effort and accomplishment of going 8s with a truly street frendly car. This is the kind of thing you normally only read about but rarely get to see. BUT!!!! What you must understand this is Cenrtal La. style racing and what people of this area [including myself] crave to see are FAST ASS street "driven" cars, I say street driven not street car because if you can get it across town with out going to jail its a street car.I will admit a car such as Andy's is not the first choice one mit want to make if your planing the family vacation with the wife, 2.5 kids and the family dog but in this town and in the eyes of all the hot roders of this area its all the street car it needs to be, So if you really desire to be The Baddest Around this is what you gotta get it on with and I fell pertty sure there will be others to come like it. Why racing series such as Edelbrock are great in most places USA this is Cenla USA and here it seems things work a little different some times. I hope that maybe in some small way this helps you understand what its going take to get what you want, The respect and the title of baddest. Its gonna take what the people want and thats heads-up, no bulls--t X and the Chief.

Nawww; what it really is, Donnie. -- Frenchman, 06:44:16 11/20/03 Thu
Naww, I beg to differ. I think it's some of your sad devotion to your ancient hero's efforts that keep you in denial.
But enough of this; It makes no difference. Bring on the baddest true 10.5" tired car that can make the trip from the I-49 truck plaza to the Eunice track, not fall behind the trailing escort and beat "X" at the dragstrip, as per the Edelbrock/ MSD IGNITION TRUE STREET RULES and it's on!
Since this "no-name guy" from west Tx. wants to come get some of X, I'll have to include the weight handicap. I'll wager whatever makes him happy.
Let's not stop with this fool. Anybody else want some? There's plenty of Bad Medicine to go around. "Open up and say AHHHH!"

It never changes, Try anything to win -- donnie, 18:50:28 11/17/03 Mon
Heres my thoughts on this class thing, The classes are listed by Et's ie;Top Gun 10.49 and quicker, Super Steet car 10.50-12.49, Super Stock Car 12.50- slower and so-on and so-on {NO SANDBAGGEN!!!!} What does it matter what combo you run with as long as it runs in the time bracket. And as far as this any big block will run 10 crap goes that a bunch of bulls--t, There many strong big blocks out there thats not in the 10s, I know what the rules say about power adders, but when you are running time broken classes the power adder thing should be throwen out. You trying to say if a guy buyers a bone stock 70 Chevelle ss454, That will only low 14s maybe high 13s and sticks a little 75 shot on it he has to be stuck in the top gun class. Thats stupid!!!!! I say pick your class and do you best to run as close to the top as you can. One pice of advise for you David, You getting away with running a mini truck in a car class, Do not throw stones if your not ready to get them throwen back at you. If you wanted to protested this guys car you should done it before he got quicker than you, That just kinda looks bad!

Byran is correct with only Dec 6 left no need to make changes now, But I feel next year we should just stick to the et breaks we have on the classes now and let people run what ever motor combo they have to make the class, You are right Eddie sandbagging has not been a problem and can be handled easy if it turns into one. I know a jimmy is titled as a car I see this all the time in the car show world, My point is this Chevy has never offerd a 4x4, S-10 or S-15 Corvette or Camaro. The S-10 and S-15 titles are given by GM to there truck line and the s-series Jimmy or Blazer is the SUV of there midsize truck line.Just because the DMV titles it as a car is just paper work, Everybody knows its a truck.

Donnie is Correct there are only about 7 cars in the central LA. area that are big block cars that are running 10s and below on motor. The rules are already in place and maybe next year it needs to be changed. As for now who cares we only have one more race for the year.

If classes are setup by ET it don't matter what it is or what motor setup it runs, If you go a 12.50 in a dump truck with slant six or you go a 12.50 in Yugo with a blown Hemi its still a 12.50 and thats all that matters and Thats my oppion, Run what you brung!!!!!!!!!!! Hell Yea!!!!!!

BIG BLOCK POWER ADDER -- Labmouse, 08:50:00 11/17/03 Mon
Why should a big block be allowed to run a power adder?
It has been said time and time again, and the top gun class is a prime example, that a big block can run low 10 s on motor alone. makes it mighty damn hard for a small block to turn those numbers without a lot of juice.sooner or later there will be members that get maxed out on their combo and that means time for a change if they want to step up. but this in not just the light weight cars. If a car is too heavy it needs to loose weight.
With Big blocks allowed to run power adders the slower classes will be dominated, and the small blocks want have a chance.
Also in some cases the power adder may not be the only thing outside the rules, like full exhuast, License and insurance, so on.
I dont understand why , when You have 4 contenders in a class that are with in the rules, that You should change the rules for one car.

You can quit crying labmouse, I won't be out there on the sixth. My motor is just fine but I have to put an eight second small block Mustang together, that will have a hair drier on it too. When I decide to go back it will be to hang on to one of the lower rungs of the top gun ladder. I don't think they will feel threatened by a ten second, five thousand pound car. I agree that rules are rules and if my car dosn't fit into any of the classes I won't be upset. I will just keep on raceing brackets on Sunday. I thought that it would have been more fun but all I here and read is alot of anger and crying. I have to repeat what Eddie posted earlier that nothing was said when the car was running 13's but now it looks as if the hooptie is beeing protested. The car was not built to be leagal in any certain class in the club. The car has evolved because I like to try different things, if not I would have built another small blocked camaro. From the input I have had form many spectators the HOOPTIE is on the correct path. Ya'll have fun!

I agree with you to the letter. It does seem like people are feeling threatened by your effort. Keep up the hard work. (The workload might be lightened if you installed an EFI; just a thought)
Your 11 sec passes justifies your superior power-weight ratio. That's what makes a car impressive; Big but moves FAST!

well french -fry seems to me you are just like some of the others. you cried when andy v laid down his numbers. you complain cause you have not gotten the top gun. well pound 4 pound the balck stud will lay some good # some day. what you have is a bbc big cubic inch compressor. cause it builds up steam and lets it fly from your mouth. but as far as weight goes you do not know your cars weight cause you change it every week. so whats the WEIGHT FRENCHY???????? so my suggestion is challenge the black stud and get that ass drug motor on motor. heavyweights -- Brian L., 17:57:12 11/17/03 Mon
Sorry Frenchman but I have to stay with the carb. I have to say that I just can't afford the EFI and the tuning. I am fully aware that the EFI can produce more power and tuneability on turbo and nitrous applications. I have retrofited a couple of non EFI vehicles with great results. I still have alot of room to tune the Hooptie well into the ten's.
On the weight issue, I have helped build a 1984 camaro with a very helthy 350. The engine had aluminum heads, domes, a good stick, and good fuel. It was still hard to get the car to mid twelves. The damm thing is HEAVY! Even if you fiberglass all the body the unibody is still HEAVY. That is why back in 1989 when I bought my first 5.0 I was kicking ass on many of the camaros of the same general year. If I were a gambler I would quickly bet that the first generation camarows and birds were the lightest of the breed. It is not suprising that we see so many successful early camarows and birds in drag raceing.
It is nice that a couple of people stand up for an ugly, old, and very overweight four door.
P.S. I don't think the Hooptie is going on a diet anytime soon. That would defeat the purpose of building that kind of car. Fat cars and drivers need love too! Ha!

My 2 cents -- Jen, 23:00:18 11/17/03 Mon
David, I thought the comittee members already brought this question up several months ago before hoopty got fast??? I thought we decided to wait it out til Jan. then make the necessary changes to rules. I know that we have discussed this issue on several occasions, and yes people it was the 1st race hoopty ever came to when this went on!
I agree with Donnie. Eddie, I have already told u what I think about it. I feel like this should be a "Run What Ya Brung-Hope Ya Brung Enough", b/c it surely has NOT been going on that way! As far as Obeying the Rules David, No u haven't been, but then again there's many others who haven't either: for example: PRO TREE!!!!!!!!!
WTF happened to that? Am I the ONLY PERSON RUNNING IT????
Fletch didn't have a problem with it, he's a good sport!!!
Eddie, I had to work last race therefore I was not able to be there to take care of shit like someone obviously SHOULD HAVE! But it's mighty funny how 1 lil lady handled the other club races since you couldn't ever grace us with your presence due to being tied up with other non club events!!!
small block/big block topic: F.Y.I. not all BIG BLOCKS automatically run 10's, hell not all of them are capable of 11's! And some of them can only run 12's! Not all Small Blocks are slow. There's small blocks that run mid 8's. So what's your point David? Racing is a $$$$ thang whether or not you'd care to admit it. Don't hide behind the rules... I think I've been accused of that a time or 2, which I wasn't. I , like you were abiding by these same rules that we as a club approved of!
Hoopty, even though I only got a small block w/ spray, and I am annorexic compared to your car, I will gladly run ya dude! (at every club race) If I lose, tuff shit, so be it. If I win, tuff shit for u, so be it. Ain't no crying here! We'll shake hands and do it again the next time, BECAUSE JEN AINT' SCARED. THIS is for everyone to have fun. Dammit people- LET'S GET BACK TO THAT!

too all of the other contenders in My class. over the past year from the time I started My build up, there where rules in place, I ask what should it be classed as- truck- car- what? and because it was titled as a car it got put in the car class.no one until now has said a word.and it still is within the rules as of when it was built, I never ask for any rule to change for Me. a few months ago a big ford came on the seen, with a big engine and HE has come a long way, congradulations HOOPTIE!!
about His second or third club event We where neck and neck and I investigated His car. said hey Man theres a big hair drier on it and for the previous class, and present that was elligal, I ask the Man He said He didnt care about the spots or the rules, He just wanted to race.and He is welcome. without competitors there would be no racing rules or not.also in those rules there was a stipulation that if a car was thought to be elligal that it was up to the title holder weather to race or not.
I started in the high 12s with no complaints, I worked My way up the ladder one official challenge at a time. till I got to this point.never got a spot for ET without an actual race taking place. still going by the rules.
I still congradulate the Hooptie for a job well done and I also know that it has more in it what should I do. should I give up? now that I`m not a car I guess I cant go for a top gun spot either.guess I could dominate the truck class sence there is no one there.

As i sit back i see guys like your self that want to compete and others as well that dont fit in the rules...
Im gonna have an Outlaw Class Per Et also...Run what you brung no rules...this will allow the crafty people that dont have a street car or a car that dont quite fit in the rules...
Instead of all the bickering....lets discuss matters a lil more civally...

The truth of the matter. -- Andy V., 17:07:32 11/14/03 Fri
Looks like I am going to have to refer back to one of my previous posts. I don't race on Sundays, and I don't gamble. My religious beliefs hold priority over any race or any thing that is said about me on this message board. I will not be tricked into a wager. That would be a result of pride and temper (as you put it French). Calling me out on a bet is something you know I will turn down and will make you look good (at least in your eyes). My posts that you claim talk s__t, are my implications that you are not as dominant as you would like to believe. You are only a legend in your own mind. You are the one full of pride and temper. You know that my car is capable of ousting your expensive effort at being the undisputed king of the street cars (which you are NOT). If YOU are so confident, why dont you challenge me for #1 top gun. Though I hate to have to go down the track beside your grossely unsafe death trap. It will inevitably happen sooner or later. My car will get faster and quicker with each additional pass I make. You just keep on clinging to your nitrous times compared to my maiden motor only passes. I know it keeps your hopes up and makes you feel good. Anyone can bolt a huge nitrous system on a car and make some numbers. I am focused on my goals. I'll be in the 8s on motor first (which you will never be able to say with your current, bigger engine combo), then I'll spray to quicker times. You just may need a third stage to keep up, frenchy.

Beating the Dead Horse. -- Frenchman, 09:05:55 11/17/03 Mon
A heavier car that runs fast will always be more impressive than a lighter car that runs fast. Weight is the issue in all forms of competition, physical or non-physical.
From a power/weight ratio, X is going to be very hard to beat.... no matter what the competition brings. Put the compettion on a true 10.5" tire, and the comparison becomes more comical.
The truth is that my car weighed 3650 lbs before the factory dash, door panels, and console burned. I may have removed 150 lbs of net weight. Though it hasn't been weighed since, my best estimate is 3500 lbs.
Big Nasty pushed the 83 lb injectors to their reciprocating redline during the pass that positively affirms horsepower to be at 1060. The upgrade to 96 lb injctors will yield power levels exceeding 1200 hp for our Dec 06 race. My predictions have always been correct and you'll witness X run quicker than 8.50 at trap speeds at 160 mph, give or take 1 mph. So, come get you some and please bring the corner weight scales so I can prove it to you once again.

AND I HOPE THAT YOUR NEW PREDICTION IS ACCURATE. AND HEY HOW ABOUT MAKING 2 PASSES FOR US TO WITNESS THEM TIMES. ID LIKE TO SEE YOU BACK IT UP AND NOT BE A "ONE TIME WONDER". WHAT THEY SAY "IF YOU CAN DO IT ONCE SURELY YOU CAN DO IT TWICE" AND IT STILL BE IN 1 PC. ITS NOT REALLY REALLY IMPRESSIVE UNTIL THE CAR MAKES NUMEROUS FAST PASSES.

clarify some things -- eddie, 15:05:11 11/16/03 Sun
In the Top Gun Class (10.49 & FASTER) its run what you brung hope you brought enough.
In the Super Street Class(10.50-12.49)THE RULES THAT WERE VOTOED IN ARE small blocks are allowed a power adder but not a big block.
Reason being is it take a "SHOT" most times to get a small block to run these kind of #s to compete with a big block.
Now there is one bb car that has a turbo on it..The Hooptie From Hell...He was allowed in because of the weight factor.
In discussions with all committee members we decided to base all classes per et next year no matter what he/she has for motor combinations. This will allow better competion because everyone buils their own version of a street car and it will allow people to play with what they have.
Thanks for your interest

rules -- labmouse, 22:05:28 11/16/03 Sun
rules?????the class that I run in says no power adders allowed on big blocks but allowed on small blocks, so as to level the playing feild. so how is it fare that cars that where built with thease rules in force should be allowed to change the rules just so they can keep up. yes some cars are heavier and some are lighter but that is the owners choice in what He built.dont say nothing about a big block can spray a big block.says that a big block on the juice should be in the mid tens and would be knocking on the door of the next class.I run a small block that fits into the rules that where in force then [when I built it ]and know. the club rules in general say that the car should be registered and have exhuast too.
maybe the new rule should be that a super stock truck can chalenge a top gun and so on,[not]. and times being posted too. the times have had to be posted from day one and why change it now.
without times being posted You gonna pair cars that are not matched and it is gonna be a mess. maybe We should leave it up to the present spot holder to deside if He[She] should allow an elligal car to run for their spot.
I`m telling You with out rules this will get out of hand. [wosre than it has in the past]

I MAY BE IN -- HOGHEAD, 21:11:30 11/16/03 Sun
I MIGHT BE IN FOR THE NEXT RACE. BUT MAY NOT HAVE A ENGINE IN CAR. YOU KNOW I HAVE THIS NEW COMBO COMING SOON. THEM SBC DO MAKE SOME POWER FOR ME. PUT FOGGER ON IT AND LET THE HIDE GO WITH THE HAIR. WELL JUST TO LET YOU KNOW MY 21 CENTS ON THE NEW RULES. I AM COOL ABOUT LETTING US JUST RUN IN A CERTAIN ET. BUT I DO NOT LIKE THE SHOWING THE TIMES. HELL I PAY TOO MUCH TO SHOW THAT. MY THINKING IS GET A CAR LINE BESIDE ME OR WHOMEVER AND RACE LET THE BETTER ONE WIN. THE NOT KNOWING ALWAYS GIVES THE ADDRENALINE RUSH.I KNOW THE FANS WANT TO KNOW BUT LET THEM GUESS ALSO. YOU KNOW AS WELL AS ME THAT WORD GETS AROUND AS TO WHAT TIMES ARE LAYED. BUT WHAT EVER IS DECIDED I WILL PARTICIPATE BUT WILL NOT SHOW MY TIMES. AT LEAST NOT NO FULL BLOWN TIMES. THE RACER WILL HAVE TO GUESS THAT. WELL COMING SOON TO A TRACK NEAR YOU.HOGHEAD
