Subject: OK Housing prices anyone??

I am fascinated by the cost of living in different places...for instance, utilities as we have been discussing. Anyone want to post what the cost of middle-class housing is where you live.
California is all over the chart - depending on where you live. And of course it is all tied to where the work is. When we moved here 22 years ago, this was a pretty sleepy little town, based on agriculture. We bought a house at that time for 65K. Since then we have exploded as a "bedroom community" to the computer based city of San Jose AKA Silicon Valley and our very modest single story, 3BR 2BA 1650 sq ft home is worth about 465K and it is on the very low end of the scale. It would sell in a week-end because everything around here is *so* high.
If I moved to your state - what would I expect to pay for a "tract" home of that size?
