Four ears perked at the call of the alphess. Gavin was on his feet, hackles raised slightly. Moina was slower to stand, having to contend with pups still attached to her teats. Gavin's head was lowered slightly, hackles raised to make himself look bigger. It had undoubtedly been his alphess, but he would take no chances with the pups underfoot. A glance was directed at Moina, while she pushed the pups beneath the protection of a nearby bush. They stood together,side by side to face whoever, kosses, as she came trotting down the path. Moina had learned much in a very short time... but the appearance of her alphess brought back some of her old, submissive behavior. Her head dropped, and she approached with her tail between her legs, whining softly until she was close enough to lick Kosses's muzzle. Gavin stood back, watching his sister. He was weary, recognizing that the pups might forfeit their lives if Kosses objected to Moina's having whelped them. He approached only when Moina had resumed her previous position, her head up, spine straight, tail held parallel to the ground. As Gavin approached, he lowered his head just slightly, so that he wasn't positioning himself in a dominant fashion, He nuzzled Kosses's cheek, and licked the corner of her mouth once before stepping back, moving to stand in front of the bush hiding the pups. Not a word was spoken, waiting for their alpha to speak first.
