I read most of the literature on this fellow about a decade ago. He is also known as Bhole Baba. In 1995 I went to see his ashram in Haidakhan which is at the foothills of the Himalayas not far from Nainital.

His devotees have set up a small Ashram in Germany just one hour's drive from where I live, near Cologne in a rural area. I went there with Shibendu for an afternoon in the spring of 2001. People there told me that this Babaji's deputy or successor Sri Muniraji came to visit that place regularly, but now he was old and suffering from diabetes and perhaps would not come again for another visit. The other close disciple was one Shastriji who in his last years wrote down all of that Babaji's Kriyas (no idea whether he finished the job), maybe one thousand pages of instruction or so. Some years ago there was a detailed web site on Shastriji but the site is down for a long time now, and Shastriji himself has passed away one or two years ago; he must have been about hundred years old.

This Babaji was already observed living near Haidakhan as a young boy in the 1960's and there are rumours that one of his parents was a Westerner. He claimed to be immortal, but not only got sick soon but also passed away in the mid-1980s. His devotees however feel greatly benefitted by having been in his company. Some of his devotees are definitely no-nonsense people.

In his extant Ashrams people practice the Om Namah Shivay Mantra and perform Yagna (fire ceremony).
