::A shot reverberates from somewhere deep within the bowls of the Salty Dog, something not uncommon at the tavern, but a shot that even the staunchest of regulars at the tavern take pause.
Five minuets went by before the same door Bloody Mary went out, opened again. It was a very stiff Mary that came back into the tavern area.. her hand fell from its place it clutched on her upper blouse.. reveling a flow of blood. Her eyes went from face to face, as her own was set in ash white and frozen in asking "why." Old habits die hard as she staggered back behind the bar muttering slowly "ready for another Sam" then scooped up his near full mug as if it were her normal routine.
Now you have to understand, the Salty Dog was one of the rowdiest taverns known. No one could remember a night where there was not a shooting, stabbing, and always two or three fights broke out. So to hear a pin drop would be stretching reality, but if one were to drop.. then it would have been heard.
Mary took maybe a step or two, then dropped behind the bar, a sound of dead weight hitting the floor, and that of a near full mug crashing. Sam leaned over the bar, then turning to the rest of the tavern and saying something to the effect of "what a waste of a brew, I only took me a swallow." A scream of a serving wench as she ran and ducked down behind the bar to give aid, aid that would not be needed.
The wench stood saying "she's dead," and that followed by the murmurs of a near silent crowd. You have to understand the time that had taken place since the sound of the shot in the back room, Mary staggering out, her collapsing behind the bar, the scream of the serving wench, and same talk of lost drink. A few things happened during those few moments, that of the entrance door of the Salty Dog opening and a few unsavory characters coming in, as well as the door that Mary staggered through had opened. The back door had opened when all eyes were on the tavern wench's who screamed, then all eyes went to an unhappy Sam and him crying over spilt ale, then to the back door where a very angry Robert (Captain and Governor Morley) stood still holding smoking gun.
Still, silence held the room as all looked to Robert. It was then that Robert smiled:: Alright, next drink be on meself.
::A cheer for a free drink went up as Robert moved over to where the body of Mary must have fallen, and there Robert seemed to kick something with anger then to call over Angus (his Bosun on the Crimson Tide and part time bouncer at the Salty Dog) to drag Mary's body out of the way. Robert would set his one pistol on the bar.. as all could see Angus pulling Mary through that back door.. a trail of smeared blood followed them.
Robert now stood across the bar from Jaden, his momentary smile.. gone. A finger up and curling back toward him as if saying come here, apparently she did not move quick enough. Robert reached over the bar to take into his fist Jaden's shirt collar almost pulling her halfway over the bar:: I's told ye Kellen, ye an ye games can get out of me town. Take ye lil boyfriend wit ye an tell JADEN I be 'ave'n word wit 'er. ::his head nod to indicate Ben. Robert pulls his second Pistol and without looking aims it directly at Ben:: On second thought, ::he tossed Jaden backwards to the floor, and turned his focus on Ben:: I think I be 'ave'n few words wit me young friend Ben first.
::Durning this time, if any looked in that direction.. one could see Ben's associate being carried into the backroom. If you can picture him still in his chair, and still writing in his pad with Angus who had come back in, where he and another bouncer on the other side carrying the associate out.
It was when Robert turned his attention to Ben.. that the unsavory characters that were last to come in pretty much unseen stand on eitherside of Ben. They as Robert would express it, were merely escorts.. to direct a lost soul to a place of there choosing.
Robert turned back to Kellen that still sat on the floor:: Lads ::Robert speaking to a few patrons:: 'elp lass up while I get's ye brew.
