"Yeah, that's what I was asking,"

The knot in his stomach tightened. Ezra nodded. "Ok, good, didn't want to sound like a total madman there. Or am I too late?" He smiled quickly and looked across the deserted street again, counting the windows on the building ahead of him. Uncomfortable silence. He exhaled softly, rubbing the back of his neck. Had she figured it out? Did it really matter? The tension had been steadily welling up since the two of them had first said "hi", and he still had no real idea why. By now he was prepared to run naked down the street yelling at the top of his lungs that he was a shifter and proud of it, or something like that. Well, mentally prepared, anyway. He wouldn't actually do it.

"I didn't mean to pry."

"No don't worry, you weren't prying." he said. "There are quite a lot of them here, actually, so I heard, this city's like the hub for the weird and wonderful. Doesn't really bother me, though, or probably not as much as it should. I dunno. You get strangely used to it." He sighed. Ezra had decided to hell with it, how much more awkward could this conversation get?
