Quittner, I like the depth that you bring to this question of Truth. Your example of the pencil falling to Earth is good. I have difficulty with the concept of seperating Truth into partial truths though. It seems to me that each scenario of dropping the pencil is wholly True because the disposition of the pencil dropping in the vehicle, does not change the disposition of a pencil dropping elsewhere.

I find merit in your point about a Truth being promulgated. I read something from Howard Bloom about the same sort of idea. I wasn't able to finish reading it, but I believe he was suggesting that mankind suffers from a somewhat halucinagenic state that is the result of "adopted" Truth. Bloom has it on his website www.howardbloom.net Now that you've got me thinking about it, I will go back and finish reading what he wrote.

I find the concept of Truth to be somewhat interesting, but I think that it is fairly cut and dried. I always have a difficult time discussing it because quite often people are coming from different starting points.

Some folks come from the point of view that there are changing Truths like, the world used to be flat and now it is round. Others come from the point that if you do not know it all... then none of it can be true. There are those who say that Truth is a subjective experience.

I see Truth as "an accurate conception, or description, of what is". That's about the best that I can word it. The "Is" part constantly changes because change is constant.

Man! I'm even confusing myself!

The upshot is that this is a great topic and I look forward to more postings. Eventually... we will get to the Truth of the matter.

Dirck
