Chapter 7: Salvation

Talib and Terina neared the doors and they could already see the others waiting anxiously. Keisha suddenly noticed them and told everyone else. They all turned and saw the two approaching.
Talib: "Here we go..."
Terina replied with a smirk and mumbled back: "Yep. It was nice while it lasted." Talib shot Terina a look and winked.
Talib went up to one of the doors where he saw Meg looking at him. Talib shrugged when he could tell she felt helpless. He tried reassuring her that he was fine, that it wasn't a big deal, but Meg seemed determined to get him out. She missed him and was worried about him.
Nique waved at Terina and Terina smiled. Nique questioned, with a quick look to Talib, how the time with him had been. Terina rolled her eyes and pretended to strangle an invisible neck. Niqie laughed and she turned around when she saw Terina's gaze drift past her. A car had pulled into the lot and a middle-aged man emerged from a blue two-door car.
Nelly walked up to the man and shook his hand.
Nelly: "I'm terribly sorry for this trouble" He apologized.
The man, who introduced himself as Charles, replied: "Ah, that's okay. I guess whoever closed should've checked the store first."
He searched his pocket and pulled out a whole bunch of keys. He flipped through the keys until he found the right one. With a click, the door that Talib was at unlocked.
Clara: "Thank you so much,". He smiled and got back into his car.
Talib pushed the door open and Meg ran into his arms.
Meg: "Oh Talib! I was so worried!" she showering him with kisses.
Terina followed after Talib and was met by Nique. She hugged Terina and was saying something about how they were worried but Terina was not listening. She was looking at Talib and Meg longingly. She knew she promised to be cool with it, but after what had happened between her and Talib, she couldn't look at him the same way. The others had approached Terina to express their concerns and she thanked them for their thoughtfulness. Lami and Nique walked Terina to her car and she waved bye to the crowd as she pulled out of the parking lot. She glanced in her rearview mirror and saw that they were headed to their cars as well. She looked at the clock on the dashboard. 11:45. Terina couldn't believe it had all happened in one evening. It wasn't even the next day yet.
She arrived home at 5 past midnight and saw her machine was blinking. She hit the "play" button as she sifted through her mail.
Computerized voice: "You have one new message," It was followed by a beep and then the sound of Star's voice filled her bedroom.
Star: "Hey Terina, where are you? It's about 10:30 now... shouldn't you be home by now? Anyway, give me a call when you get home. Any time is fine, I'll be up late. Talk to ya later babe." There was a click and then a whir of the tape rewinding.
Terina decided she would take a shower before calling Star back. She stepped out of her clothes and caught her reflection in the mirror. Her fingers brushed the spot on her collarbone where Talib had left his mark. She sighed and started the shower. Fifteen minutes later, she got out and put on her bathrobe and towel-dried her hair. She headed to her phone on her night table and dialled Star's number. They chatted for a while as Terina explained how she was trapped in the store with Talib. She was hesitant on telling her the details and she knew she promised not to but she was itching to tell someone. And between Star and Nique, she'd rather spill the juicy details to Star, the one NOT going out with Talib's best friend.
Terina: "There's actually more to it"
Star: "Oh? Go on� her interest suddenly peaked.
Terina: "Well, um... you can't tell ANYONE! Swear it!"
Star: "Okay, okay! I swear it! Big secret. Got it. Now tell me!"
Terina: "Talib and I... well, we're not really enemies anymore..." She disclosed, being careful with her choice of words.
Star: "So you two bonded and became friends. What's the big d- OH!!! Ohmygod!!! Nooooooo....." Star exclaimed as she realized what Terina was mean.
