Bounder pulled a face as he thought what Moonbeam might say if he let the female comment slide. "Im not being outshone by a female. If thats a display of maximum red vixen courage, then they are a pretty naff species. Ive met plenty of blue vixens who were as good a warrior as males like Warrior."
Bounder had a problem now. His honour had been challenged. If he didnt help the red vixen, and risk her desise, he made himself look like a coward too afraid to risk an illness. He was a proud animal and wouldnt let himself look weak. That would just give the enemy ammo against him. After all, the whole reason Bounder hadnt killed the sick vixen outright was because he was concerned that it would have made him look pathetic. That was why he had called for a second opinion. And the same time, Bounder knew he had other loyalties. He was certain his father wouldnt aprove a red save mission. If he had been alone, he could have helped and worked out a story to justify his actions should his family find out. But he wasnt alone. His brother was there, who could easily tell Scarface that Bounder had gone soft. Bounder was reluctant to help without agreeing it with Warrior.
Bounder made a descision, one which he was sure would make him retain his honour on both sides of the fence. He put on his best tough-guy-doing-a-favour face. "I am not helping that red, no matter what anyone says. If I had encountered her when she wasnt ill, I would have torn her to shreds so I dont see why I should deliberatly help save her life if she isnt sick. Why should her illness save her? However I do have some honour. To prove to you reds that I am not scared of you, I will let you remove your sick without stopping you. I will give you a chance to recover. Then, when you think you are strong, the blue foxes will strike you down as easily as if you were all sickly!" He laughed and turned to go, feeling that he had dealt suitably with the situation.
