Well, I'm moving to either Ohio or California. Marlene, I basically do the same as you as far as conserving - crock pot, hang clothes outside. We keep the thermostat on 66 degrees during the winter. Virginia can get cold but we're close to the Bay so not as bad as inland, but cold still. I do keep the A.C. on all summer, night and day because it is unbearbly humid in the summer months. We use natural gas for cooking, heating and hot water. Everything else is electic. In January my gas bill was $260 and electric $60. Last month (April-May) gas was $88 and electric $70. Highest electric bill in the summer is about $150 and gas is around $50. Add a $70 a month water bill to that - every month, and I never use "city" water for the lawn or washing the cars or boat. I am diligent about conserving and it doesn't seem to make much for a difference. Might as well be camping. Gas here today - $1.59 regular, $1.79 premium.
