Thank you all for the discussion.

I am looking at the passages, but I don't see how in the world you can come to the conclusion that John 7 is talking only about the Apostles. It says, "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, "Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water. Now he said this about the Spirit, which believers in him were to receive; for as yet there was no Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified."

This sounds pretty inclusive. Jesus didn't say, "My apostles will receive the living water." He said, Let ANYONE who is thirsty come to me. ANd he said, out of the BELIEVERS heart shall flow rivers of living water. I see no indication that this is limited to apostles. It is for ALL believers.

This reminds me of John 4, where Jesus was talking with the woman at the well. He did tell here that he was going to give the Apostles living water, but her if she had asked him.

I think you are holding to this interpretation as an effort to disprove miraculous gifts today. There are no miraculous gifts that I can tell, but that conclusion does not come from explaining away these passages as applying only to the apostles. The Holy Spirit is for everyone who believes.
