Subject: Hi-res problem: no video

I just did a hi-res 640x480 upgrade on a CC with a 575 mb running os 7.1. I followed the steps (isolating pin 8 from 9 and tested it with my cheap continuity tester) soldered lead from pin 8 to 10, Then I only cut pin 20 and tested that. My board did not have 78 or 79 pin. Now I have no video ( I tried the brightness & contrast dials on the side of my CC) but no go. The computer worked perfectly before the upgrade. Now I know that the OS boots up perfectly and I can close the system exactly with the same keystrokes as before the change, minus the video. Help
