Author: Rabid, just visible inside through the smoked glass
Subject: TEASER: We crane pan over the parking lot of the Shipperville Public Library...

...as we float ten feet above the tarmac we gradually become aware of a strange sound...very much like the chirping of crickets with nasty head colds. A red ball bounces across the many empty spaces in the lot. We follow the progression of the toy as it loses momentum until finally...at long last, the ball strikes the tire of a lone car. It is a blue Toyota Avalon, parked in the RESERVED FOR STAFF space.

New Angle: the front of the Shipperville Library. The raised letters of the sign slide past our lens. Wind ruffles the maple trees that edge the sidewalk, turning their pale green leaves over in a flash of silver.

The ball rolls into frame again, moving across the prairie of tamac. Still, there is no child visible. The ball is lost and forlorn in the bleak empty landscape. We close on the front of the library building until the picture window at circulation fills our frame. Inside behind the smokey glass we can sense movement. As we draw ever closer, the subliminal outline crystalizes into the svelte shape of town Librarian, Rabid. She is busy taking items from a cart and placing them on the shelves. She moves with unconscious grace, comfortable in this shadowed, quiet place.

Cut to the interior of the library as the camera closes on the oblivious librarian. She is humming "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" as she works. With a practiced eye, she places the new Season 7 DVD set face out on the display racks. We move in until we have an extreme close-up on the left side of the librarian's face. She is wearing a pearl drop earring. Still, in extreme close-up, we sense a shadow, falling on the hapless woman. A shape very like a hand crosses our frame to seize Rabid's tweed clad shoulder.

"EEAAAHHHCHHHGHHH!" Rabid screeches.

She wheels and kicks out with her sensible heel, taking her opponent in the groin. He is indistinct out of the shot before we can get a good look. But behind him we see more menacing figures. Quick as thought, Rabid snatches up disc one of Season 7. She uses it and then another and another like throwing stars to slice off bits and pieces of her attackers as they close in.

There is movement, we jump cut from one angle to another, picking up the jittering shadows. And now there are even more figures in the stacks...figures with glowing red eyes. And again there is that strangling cricket sound. Rabid is ashen. The figures, still indistinct, make a strange chittering noise as they shuffle forward.

One shot: on Rabid as she backs away clutching a copy of "Trust No One" to her heaving bosom. We hold in the reaction shot as the chittering noise increases...increases...nearly overwhelms us...and then... we return to our establishing shot of the red ball...silence...

Then, quite suddenly...there is a brief scream that is swallowed up in...

The X-Files theme music....

Rabid/Raeann
Welcoming KS to the fold of Librarianship with a new storyline...put that hair up in a bun and get to work...I am apparently indisposed...
