Well, he was the scape goat. Put your sins upon another and they will be forgiven and forgotten. Brian was an easy target, even while he lived, being as he never came forward to defend himself against allegations of things he didn't do.

As far as I can tell, the only clinical evidence that Brian ever "may" have beat up on a woman was the broken hand he got in a supposed fight with Anita. If you noticed, it was BRIAN with the damaged body, NOT Anita. No woman that I've been able to find ever showed off a bruise she got from Brian Jones, and saying "he beat me" is an easy charge to make. I suppose since there were no bruises to be seen, no charges were ever filed, but a lot of accusations were made. Even the police knew what an easy target he was.

Demonizing just one person takes the heat off all the others, and you might notice nobody ever questioned the morality of Bill Wyman, who was MARRIED, when he claimed to have had sex with 275 (or so) women in one year. Everyone just shrugs at that, but get's all hot and bothered over Brian's claim of 250...and Brian was single! I think it all boils down to jealousy. He was great looking, talented, successful, rich, famous, and able to have sex with anyone he wanted to. Most guys can't have that...what fun to be able to demonize such a person!!
