“Kind sir, your invitation is most gracious. I am called Lenariah,” the enchantress explained in a low, whimsical voice. Her words seemed to still possess remnants of the magic she had not long before administered. She paused for a moment, contemplating a reply to Teveion’s request. “It would be a pleasure to rest at the residence of your father. The healing song for your kin has absorbed a great deal of my energy, and my mind is in need of recuperation.”

With a smile at her reply, Teveion made his way to the front of the group. Lenariah began to walk towards the lady whom she had resurrected.

Gathering her dress about her, Lenariah realized how disheveled she appeared. The auburn curls that once loosely framed her face now fell in a tangled mass. Smudges of dirt marred her complexion, and the bottom hem of her skirt was drenched in mud. In fact, the magician closely resembled a homeless beggar. Her hasty dash through the forest to reach the clearing had left no time to be concerned with her outward show.

Celefe peered down from her horse at the enchantress. Even with her injuries, the warrior looked as though the sun glowed and reflected around her. Lenariah could sense the resonating light as she neared the mounted young woman.

“You have a strong soul,” Lenariah remarked. “I have not felt such a powerful life force as yours in someone so young. Tell me, noble one, how is it that you exert such bravery and vigor in the face of pain?”
