He smiled to himself as he saw her cheeks turn pink. Well this was a first. The last time he remembered making a girl blush was in high school, and, well, it wasn't from a compliment. Max nodded as he acknowledged her next statement, eyebrows raised. "Top of the class, eh? Impressive. I better learn my place then." He laughed.

"Sounds good to me. Lead the way Max."

"Lead the way... right." he muttered to himself, looking up and down the street as if searching for something. "That way, I think." He finally said, pointing over her head. "There's a cafe that stays open through the night. Cafe alright with you?" Max asked as he started to walk, holding up a hand to shield his eyes as a car with particularly bright headlights turned the corner up ahead and drove past them. In a remarkable twist of tradition, Max wasn't that keen on going to the pub tonight. The painkillers had helped a bit, but the throbbing in his head still managed to make itself known every now and again. But if the lady wished to go to the pub instead, then he'd be obliged to take her.
