Erlic realized that somewhere along the line Tristan must have admitted to Noyko that he was a dragon; otherwise the youth wouldn’t have shown his undying gratitude towards the dragon. Tristan probably didn’t realize it yet, but he had a willing servant ready to perform his every bidding. Noyko confirmed that when he referred to Tristan as Ryuujin, the term translated into the common language as that of dragon.

In the lands of Kor Toi, the dragon was a revered symbol, and no one ever offered any offense to the most mystical, and powerful creatures ever to have roamed the land. It was an imaginary symbol created by the ancients of Kor Toi, believing it to be an animal that could summon wind, and rain, and fly in heaven. It was, and still is worshipped. It also served as a divine incarnation, and a symbol of the country’s fortune.

The dragon-god was said to appear in different shapes – as a youth or aged man, as a lovely girl or old hag, as a rat, a snake, a fish, a tree, weapon or implement. No matter what its shape, the dragon was intimately connected with water. It was considered a rain lord, and therefore the thunder-god who caused rain to fall. Myths were told to children how the dragon dwells in pools, rises to the clouds, thunders, and brings rain, flooding rivers, and bringing water to necessary areas. The dragon was in some places considered to be in the ocean, and controlled the tides, causing the waters to ebb, and flow. Just as water destroys, so is the dragon a destroyer. As water preserves, and sustains; the dragon is a preserver, and sustainer.

The reason for Noyko’s downward glance was not because he was acting the part of the slave, rather, because no mortal should watch them. It was not only unlucky, but also perilous for human beings to peer into mysteries, and the dragon was considered a most mystical, as well as magical mystery.

Perhaps Tristan wasn’t aware of it yet, but he had found a most willing servant in Noyko, and the youth would do anything in his power to please the dragon. Erlic decided that it was best to talk to Noyko once he returned, and try to explain to him the situation within the common world. For now, he would be under the guidance of both Tristan, and Marz. Erlic almost smiled while thinking of the situation. Marz loved Tristan, and Tristan loved Marz. But now, Noyko was enthralled by Tristan, and he wondered if the third party within this duo would cause any problems. Well, if nothing else, it would be a learning lesson for both the dragon, and his own student.

Erlic had heard Tia’s advice, and was glad that a number of the party would remain behind. At least they would now be ready in case the assassins decided to try anything. A strange feeling came over the guild master as he sensed, rather than heard, another presence occupy the room. He noted the looks in the group’s eyes, and realized that someone indeed had entered the room. The aroma of the newcomer was one that was very familiar, and the guild master was quite pleased that Jade had returned.

He turned to face the exotic woman, a smile on his face, as she asked if he had missed her, giving him a kiss on the cheek. He stared into her beautiful eyes before whispering in her ear. “You have been gone much too long, and I have missed you immensely,” he stated while giving her a brief kiss on the lips.

He stood back a bit, “but you’re just in time as usual,” he stated. “Seems Argus has discovered a trap door in an old supply store, one that had been magically trapped. The fun is just about to start.”

Since Argus was going to be going with them, Valhorek decided to remain behind in case anything should happen, and they would need his assistance. So it would be Jade, Erlic, Ravin, Isobel, Tia, and Arg……

“Yo Erlic,” Corum shouted. “I think that Barry and me are gonna go.” He turned to Marz to further his comment. “Yorik’s been telling me he’s hungry, and it’s time he started bashing in some skulls, if you get my drift?”

Marz simply shook his head, and laughed at his friend. Actually deep down, Corum was hoping that he could spend some time with the lovely Tia; especially now that Rowan wouldn’t be there. He remembered the wonderful kiss they shared in the temple, even though they were under a spell of sorts, but who cared. It was simply fantastic. Perhaps he’d get to know the petite elf a bit better.

“Argus, and Corum,” Erlic finished. “Everyone here be leery. We know that the possibility of more assassins might be out there, and they’ll stop at nothing to capturing their prize.” Once the group had partaken of some nourishment, and drink, those that were going to go adventuring finally left, heading down the stairs until they were outside. The group headed back toward the supply store, and over to the trap door.

As the group entered the store, Erlic stopped, and held Jade back, while the others entered. He quickly took her off to the side, and planted a passionate kiss on her lips, while holding her in a tight embrace. “Now make sure you be careful,” the guild master stated with a smile, before ushering her inside the store.

This time the trap door opened easily since the magic trap had been deactivated. There was a stairway leading down, and the group slowly climbed down until reaching a solid surface. They stood in the center of a huge cavern, with several passageways leading in opposite directions. At the far wall of the cavern stood a sarcophagus, and a fairly large one at that. Before the group had even thought of what to do, Corum quickly let out with a yell.

“IT’S CLOBBERIN TIME!!!!!” They turned at the youth’s statement, and suddenly spotted a number of zombies heading in their direction. Corum quickly picked the once closest to him, and swung with all his might, splattering the creature against the wall. “Gotcha! You piece of rotten flesh,” Corum commented. He moved back as the creature rose to his feet, slowly progressing toward him again. The youth swung several times until the creature simply remained on the floor not moving.

Incoming, Incoming, six o’clock

Corum had somehow learned to know that when Yorik said anything about incoming that it meant to move, and like real quick like. He rolled to his left just as he felt a breeze where his head once was. When he got to his feet, he raised Yorik once again. “Where were you Barry?” Corum asked while keeping an eye on this newest attacker. “You’re supposed to be warning me, remember?” Before the skull got a chance to respond, Corum started his attack, noting that the others had engaged in battle as well.

Erlic had instinctively managed to push Jade behind him as he drew both swords trying to shield her from any damage, as well as giving her time to assemble her spells. Something entirely sinister was down here only judging by the large sarcophagus, much larger than human size. He really didn’t have time for that now since they needed to get rid of the zombies first. The guild master swung, slicing through their already dead, and rotting flesh, taking precautions not to get hit himself.

He encountered several more zombies, and managed to send them to their final deaths, all the while moving back and forth, trying to avoid any blows from the creatures. It seemed that the group was fairing well, until a sickening sound permeated the air. Erlic had just a second to look, as the lid of the sarcophagus started to open of its own accord. He rolled out of the way just in time as one of the zombies tried to claw at him. When he got to his feet, he spotted a giant Lich standing within the sarcophagus. This didn’t look too well. Not only had they disturbed the zombies, but also what the zombies were protecting. Hopefully they would have a chance to kill all the zombies, and then focus on the second threat, or at least Erlic hoped, might be a second threat. Lich’s were not easily defeated.
