Subject: the thing I didn't like about the pre's

While I did enjoy the prequels very much, the one thing that really bothered me was the space flight issue. In the originals it is a huge deal that the spice allows navigators to fold space and travel instantly from world to world. Yet, in the pre's, space flight doesn't seem to be much harder. In only a few months one could travel to many worlds. This, in my mind, lessens the value of the spice a great deal. One of my favorite things about the spice was that it could be used this way. Imagine a drug that could expand your mind in a way that allows you to see your path through space and then take that path instantly. It would be awsome. But, hey if you didn't have it, it will just take a couple of extra weeks, no big deal right? A tragedy.

Sure you could make the point that if the spice were to be destroyed, any pocket of civilization would have to redevelope the technology for this, but I don't think this would be too difficult. Once one did it could pass to all others.

So really the Spice only becomes important for age applications and to the B.G. Big deal.

Why not just forget about the GUILD and make your own ships? Sure seems to lessen their power doesn't it?
