"Um...of course...sit wherever you want."

"Thanks." Ezra sat down at the opposite end of the bench and, as she looked down the street, he looked down the other way. Awkward silence. His hands, still in his pockets, lightly drummed a slow and rhythmless tune on his lap. With nothing to do, questions began materialising in his mind. Ezra had a gut feeling that the girl next to him wasn't one hundred percent human, but he couldn't for the life of him quite figure out what she was. If she was a shifter like himself then he probably would have known it. Werewolf? Actually he didn't really know what werewolves looked like, or what specific characteristics they had in their "human" forms that could distinguish them as such. But the girl next to him wasn't quite how he would picture it. Faerie? Angel? Vampire? She could be anything. She could even just be a normal person. He wasn't going to ask her, because that would sound terribly rude. "Hey! What are you?" wasn't really his style.

"Are you all right?"

Her voice ran through his train of thoughts and abruptly yanked him back to the present. "Huh?" He looked at her quizzically, but then the penny dropped. "Oh, yes I'm ok, thanks." he had no idea what he looked like, but he felt a lot better than he had, and until he was sure what she was he certainly wasn't about to tell her "Oh yeah I just suck at transforming into dogs". The 'after effects' that plagued him whenever he transfigured fortunately only lasted a couple of minutes. It was still mightily embarassing nonetheless- Jude was permanently teasing him about it. The awkward silence was slowly settling over them again. "By the way, I'm Ezra." He allowed a small smile to form in the corner of his mouth, and held out a hand in greeting. It was the only thing else he could presently think of saying. Anyway, it was what strangers normally said to each other.
