Ladies,
I just wanted to ask a special favor of you. One of my oldest and dearest friends, whom I met because we were both Roller fans, has had a stroke and needs all the prayers she can get. If you were at Rollerfest 97 in Las Vegas or 98 in New Orleans, she was there. Her name is Vera Goff and she attended both fests with her sister, Connie. She has had heart problems her whole life, and when Connie called me to tell me, she said that the blood was basically collecting at the bottom of her heart and wasn't pumping back out into her body and she ended up with a blood clot that went to her brain. She is paralyzed on her right side and Connie said the doctors said she has a 50/50 chance.

The situation is bad enough, but Vera has had a lot of pain in her life. She was born with a bad heart to begin with. She lost her fiance when he was killed by a car when she was 19. He was the one and only love of her life and she has never gotten over his death. So, she has never married. She lost her Dad a few years after that to years of diabetic related problems (including horrible rages of anger when he would go into insulin shock and Vera, Connie and their Mom would have to endure his anger until it was over) and then to top it all off, their mother, Julia died almost 2 years ago at 63 due to medical negligence at a local hospital. (She went into the hospital for swelling in her extremities and they gave her Vioxx. Guess what? She was allergic to steriods and guess what Vioxx is? She went into a coma and ended up dying.) The girls are in the process of suing the hospital since the fact that their mother's chart noted that she was allergic to steroids and they administered them anyway.

So, if you would please remember Vera in your prayers and to your prayer lists, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Julie

OK, I know this is not BCR related, but this has been bugging me for MONTHS! Does anybody remember a cartoon about "A very fine mannered dragon, who's reluctant to be mean"? That jingle keeps going through my head....I can't remember all of it, and I can't remember the name of the dragon. Does anybody have any idea what I'm talking about?

Completely non-Roller related, but I just had to comment on the Oscar nominations. As disappointed as I am that Sean Astin didn't receive a supporting actor nomination for LOTR, I am thrilled to itty bitty pieces over Johnny Depp's best actor nomination!! Of course he won't win, but still, it's such an honor to be recognized in that way.

Thought this was interesting and maybe poor Eric wishes his hand was still in this band! The CD sounds great from the clips and I'm off to purchase it!!

''I like this band!!" says Paul McCartney, and if an endorsement from a knighted Beatle isn't enough, we think one listen to Revive, the Elektra debut album from Steadman, will earn your similarly enthusiastic affection. This quintet from Hastings, England started out making their demos in a pig shed with equipment borrowed from the Bay City Rollers, and ended up with The Sun's ''Album Of The Week'' two weeks in a row. 12 tracks. Elektra 2003.

I dragged out my old BCR videos last night (was home alone) - the Krofft shows, clips from Ricochet, Les' solo stuff etc (all copies of copies of copies......). I know I have asked this before in different places, but did the Rollers ever perform the song 'Strangers in the Wind' on any TV appearance, and does anyone have it on video? It was my fave song (recently been replaced by 'Say') and I have never seen it performed.

I'd be happy to pay (a reasonable amount) to get a copy of it.

Thanks

Where are all you Roller babes? Hope everyone had a nice holiday and New Year! When are we all getting together? I miss all of you!!!

I actually bought myself 4 new BCR-related items this year. Along with Les's book, I got Duncan's single, "This is the Christmas." I also finally got a copy of Ian's "The Gift" and Duncan's new cd, "The Very Best of Duncan Faure" which includes his "Let It Be Right" (freedom mix.) Both are awesome additions to my collection!! Okay, I sound like a commercial...I'll shut up now!

I'm so excited, I just had to share!!! After an 8-year hiatus, next week I will be resuming my career in the music business as Regional (West Coast) Marketing Coordinator for Universal Music!! I'll be working with my former co-worker and Marketing Manager from Sony Music, a great guy who now runs the Universal branch in San Francisco. I'm on such an adrenaline rush that I haven't slept or eaten in days...LOL..this job's been great for my diet so far! I figure the lack of sleep will be good practice for the music biz lifestyle that I remember so well. ;o) With the music industry undergoing such a radical evolution at the moment, I'm very thrilled at the opportunity to be involved in creating innovative new ways to market music in the digital age!

Now my only question is whether Universal will allow me to hang a Pirates of the Caribbean poster over my desk despite the fact that the movie was made by rival studio Disney! ;o)
And yes, thank you, I am VERY much enjoying owning my very own copy of the DVD!! ;oD

Those of you planning to see the new movie "Love, Actually" (starring a massive cast including Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, Colin Firth, etc. etc.) are in for a treat! Not only do the BCR get mentioned by name (I believe the quote is something like..."the eternal genius of the Bay City Rollers") but the song "Bye Bye Baby" is played pretty much in its entirety and very prominently. I won't go into further details about the scene itself because the element of surprise makes it better. Unfortunately the song doesn't appear to be on the official soundtrack (there's a LOT of music used in this movie), but one can at least hope the lads received some kind of performance royalties for the film!

P.S. Happy Halloween everyone!!

Random thoughts on Les book...

- Overall I thought his writing style was very clever. Some spots I found myself actually laughing aloud at his humor.

- I, personally, was hoping for more of a book in the form of what Eric had written for the fan club (which was never finished). I guess more of a personal account of their lives together, life on the road, etc. rather than a look at the music business in general which I felt quite a bit of the book was.

- I respected that Les did not write blatant 'tell all' about the other BCR and seemed to take into account their privacy through it all. I'm an Eric fan and even though Eric seemed to be prime target for the majority of Les' venting, I actually thought Les was...mmm...relatively open minded even when he was venting. I think there was one line in the book that ranted for a paragraph about the other guys...then ended with something along the lines of '...or perhaps I was just a shit'. Okay, how can you not think that's funny? :)

Although I didn't think there was anything earthshattering or 'new' per se in the book, it really is a clever read.

Anyone else?

hey all...
was cleaning out an old drawer today and found an item I thought I'd long gotten rid of (but now so glad I still have!). It's a hand written letter postmarked Sept. 18, 1979 from the BCR fanclub - Wilma (Tam's mom) to be exact. I'll share it all with you here although it takes a bit of explanation first.

See, in Aug. '79 I had 6, 4th row tickets to see the BCR in Saginaw, MI (yeah, almost Bay City). Made my then-college-age brother with extreme hatred for the band drive me three hours w/ my best roller buddy, my sister (also an 'anti-fan') and some other college buddies of my brother's - only to find the show had been cancelled. We youngsters were devastated. To add insult to injury we had to endure the 3 hour drive home broken hearted and listening to my brother and the other musical snobs in the car berate our band. Grrr. My mom - a fiesty old woman even then - couldn't bear to see me so torn up so she shot off a nasty letter to the fan club and on the outside of the envelope wrote in bright red "DO NOT IGNORE THIS LETTER IT IS NOT BEING WRITTEN BY A STARRY EYED TEEN". A couple weeks later I received this letter from Wilma. Looking back I have to laugh a bit. Two p*ssed off moms defending their kids. Read on:

"Dear Mary,

I just don't know what has happened with the Rollers. I myself have been let down as I have tried to get hold of them for the newsletter as it was time for it to go out and it was impossible. The only news I received was from my son, Tam, that he had been sacked. I think they have such short memories after all that was done for them. Well they will be home at the end of the month and I will see that Mrs. Wood gets your letter - like yourself she feels bitter. I too don't like children to be let down either. And I am very sorry I can't give you an explanation to it all. I think they have a lot of explaining to do to a lot of fans.

Wilma"

Hello, I have seen videos of various American shows of the 70's such as Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas, Midnight Special and Dinah where the BCR sang songs and it sure looks like they are lip synching and not actually playing there instruments, does anyone else notice this? There was one episode I think Mike Douglas, on the beach, where the record started before the BCR were even on stage. If this is true what does the actual audience see or here? Best Wishes, Brad.

I'm sure you thought it would never get here....but at long, long last, the "new" online version of the BCR Fan Database has arrived and is now posted on the BCR Alumni homepage at
http://members.aol.com/cojehali/bcralumni.html
(or just click the link at the top of the page!)

E-mail addresses are ever-changing, so if you find any invalid links (or other errors), please let me know! I have a feeling some listings may be duplications of the same person with different e-mail addresses; if you are one of these, please let me know that as well. Yes, I know it would be nice if the database was searchable, sortable and all that fun stuff but my HTML skills aren't quite that advanced yet. If anyone has some time to kill and would like to devote the time and effort to adding those features to the database, you are more than welcome to give it a try!

Considering the amount of time it's taken me to pull this together, I'm sure many of you may have changed your e-mail addy's (or even physically moved!) since I last collected your info...so please send me any changes or updates that need to be made.

Otherwise... enjoy! :o)

Hi gang! Well I'm not sure how to make this BCR-related, except to say...wasn't there a photo shoot in the 70's where the Rollers dressed as pirates? :o) Or maybe it was just Les in the Ego-Trip years...I know I've seen some very nice pictures of him in a pirate suit somewhere!!

Which is mainly my lead-in to say...if you haven't seen the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie yet...RUN, don't walk, to the ticket booth! I can't say I've ever been a particularly big fan of Johnny Depp in the past (though I do admire his acting skills), but his performance in this film is totally captivating, absolutely classic, a definite must-see!! Orlando Bloom continues to be gorgeous, and Geoffrey Rush is one of the best actors out there, but Depp *totally* steals the show! I have to quote one of my favorite comments from a female reviewer..."Oh. My. God. ......and the movie was good too!!" LOL

For those of you who have already had the pleasure...so to speak...I'd love to hear what you thought. I've seen this film three times so far and I'm looking forward to seeing it again...and again! Rumor has it a sequel is already in the works!

Oh and by the way....yes, I'm back home now (and ever so glad to be there!!!) Is everyone enjoying the summer? :o)

I thought this was mindlessly interesting. In the process of redoing my house I've moved tv central to my living room. I sat down and actually used the remote as I rarely watch tv and find in the "menu guide" music stations. (Who knew the damn thing had a menu??)Naturally I click to the 70's channel. I get up to convince myself to clean something while listening when doesn't Money Honey come on. Nice excuse to sit back down again! As they play the song they have pop up facts such as...Did you know the Bay City Rollers started as a Beatle's cover band? (Huh?) They wore plaid outfits and scarves to attract teenage girls (I thought that was written funny..yes as a teen I was searching for an idol in plaid with a scarf around his neck who happened to sing!) Their signature songs are Shang-a-Lang and All of me loves all of you (Come now, most people can barely guess Saturday Night!) The final note which I thought interesting was "they were criticized for their ever changing lineup"! LOL among other things I guess.

OK...back to Pirates!!

For those of us who remember some early chats (Heather, Rhonda etc) and those who are familiar with the game of netball (Heather created the thought of 'nekkid netball'), I recently participated in the State Championships in the Masters (over 35's) division. The following link is to a picture taken of me on court. I am so glad it is only the back of me. I am the tallest one in the black skirt. As you can probably see, I don't play a very 'mobile' type of game, actually, I spend most of the time in that one position (unless I am putting up a shot at goal!).

What is it that Carolyn Sullivan said in the VH1 show when describing rollermania..?? ...."It's like Herpes....lies dormant for years and then resurfaces?" Haha...

I haven't listened to any roller stuff for probably a couple of years, and then from nowhere decided "what the heck" and bought the live Budokan CD the other day.

Wow, what a nice treat that was. For those of us who never had the opportunity to see them live, our chance to live vicariously (sp??) through the screams of others...and - what a charge that must've been for those there.

And even songs that I was never enormously crazy about (Love Fever comes to mind) - sounds so cool live...great guitar.

And my husband simply shakes his head "Oh no...not AGAIN with the roller stuff...."

Happy summer everyone,

Okay ladies, I need help here with something that is driving me crazy. There is a picture of the Rollers that is one of the first ones that I have a strong memory of and I wanted to know if anyone could tell me when it was in 16 Magazine. I used to have the picture - maaaaany moons ago and even though I still have my BCR stuff, that didn't survive 28 years worth of moves and such. I would post the picture on here in my post, but I haven't figured that one out yet.
The picture is of Alan, Les, Eric, Derek and Woody from left to right and they have painted their own names behind them on a wall.
Does anyone still have this picture and could tell me which issue it was in the first time? It's one of those things I have stuck in my mind and I can't shake!
Can someone please help?????

Hey all,
I just wanted to let you know about a picture of Eric, Kass, Alan and Woody on the "official" Alan Longmuir webpage. I check this page out every day or so to see if there is any news on Alan or any of the other guys, and there normally isn't, but the webmistress put this picture up the other day and I wanted to share it. I would have cut and pasted it here, but she has a copyright on it, so I can't. If you wanna see it, you have to go check it out. It's right before the posts begin and it's a picture taken by a private individual, not one I have ever seen before.

If you care to peek, the address is www.voy.com/45380/

Have a good day!

Hey folks....just thought I'd check in and say that I will never take California weather for granted again. I don't think I've seen the sun since I left the Golden State. We've been under constant threat of thunderstorms and tornadoes (!) since we left. So tell me, just when DOES summer actually come to the rest of the U.S.???

On the other hand, we've seen some wonderful scenery in the wilds of Montana and the Dakotas...and lots of wildlife as well. Buffalo, prairie dogs, wolves, you name it! In addition, we've scored some real bonuses in our genealogy search and added some great info to the family tree.

Tomorrow we're on to the Quad Cities and riverboat gambling! So what are y'all up to this merry month of May? Hope some fun is being had!

This Sunday, May 11, is Mothers Day in Australia so I am wishing all Mums, regardless of where you live, a great day.

We are planning on having morning tea with my Mum-in-law (which will no doubt extend past lunchtime) and afternoon tea with my Mum. Craig, my hub, then suggested we go out for dinner for ME. Lovely thought, but seriously, how much can you eat in one day?? And I am sure that by that time my two teenage kids will have had enough 'family time' for one day (week, month...)

Personally, I think I would like to spend the entire day sleeping!!

Some of you may have heard of a very cool band called Seven Nations. They've got a 3-song single out which features of cover of 'Saturday Night.' I just ordered a copy - can hardly wait to hear their version.

Hey kids, glad to see some folks still posting! I've been a bad hostess lately...gallivanting around the country and such. Sadly, my hopes for reliable cyber-access while on the road were vastly more optimistic than turned out to be the case!

The only BCR-related news I have to share is that my significant other, Keith, who is now running his own concert booking and promotion business (with moi as his administrative director), is now doing booking for Ian Mitchell! We even have some pages for Ian up on Keith's website, which you can check out at www.keithputneyproductions.com . Keith's main focus is in booking "nostalgia" acts of the 60's-70's (i.e. Pete Best of the Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Gordon Waller of Peter and Gordon, etc.) so if you know of any cool clubs or venues in your area that book these kinds of shows, we'd love to hear about 'em!

In non-BCR related news, you can see photos from my most recent travels at www.conniescustomcreations.com/rt2003p1.html . Yes, that's a hidden link on my new jewelry website, which you can peruse at www.conniescustomcreations.com . For now, it's just a basic site, I hope to improve on it soon. I've gotten so many inquiries via my mom because of some pieces I made for her that she's been bugging me to put up a site so she can give people something to look at! She's become my prime sales agent! So there it is. In an effort to make it more BCR-related (just for y'all) I will endeavor to create some more celtic-themed jewelry in the near future!! ;o)

And in the midst of my shameless self-promotion, I must also grovel for forgiveness at my failure to complete the BCR Online Database to date, which I really *have* been working on (I have, I swear!) I'm about 75% of the way there (of course by now, most of the dratted e-mail addresses are probably out of date....just shoot me now!) Anyway, it's just me, my mom, my computer and my box of beads heading out on the road again next week....so I should have ample time to work on completing that task. Then I'll just need to find some local AOL access out there in the sticks so that I'm not paying an arm and a leg to upload files ('cause I've already given said arms and legs to obtain fuel for the vehicle!)

In all, I've been "busier than a one-armed paper hanger" (which is Keith's favorite phrase these days) but I'll do my best to check in more frequently in the future! Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to a fun summer (please make it stop raining! This is California, we don't DO that here!)

Cheers to all!

Since there hasn't been a post on this board since April 7th, (that's 3 weeks to you and me Rusty), I thought I would post to ask if maybe anyone has heard any BCR music lately? Has anyone heard bagpipes or maybe even eaten a scone? A chip butty? Anyone had a strawberry milkshake to wash it down with??? Has anyone seen any tartan fabric anywhere? I mean good GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm grasping for straws here!!!

This is sad. I thought when the AOL board went tits up and Connie created this board, that things would pick up. I notice Alan has an official VoyForums message board now and so does Derek, but I don't know any of the people that post on Alan's board, other than knowing OF his wife, and she posts there.

I realize that there isn't really anything current to post about as far as the guys are concerned, but maybe we could make something up? Just for fun. Please, someone start an interesting Roller subject. ANYTHING!!!!! I'm home with a 20 month old all day so I am used to talking in mono syllables......someone articulate? Anyone?

Haha...Have to share this useless (but fun) discovery. Our 15 year old daughter considers herself on the 'cutting edge' when it comes to her taste in music. I have to say I rather enjoy her selections: Good Charlette (sp??), Less Than Jake, All American Rejects, New Found Glory, Blink 182, etc.

But you listen to these bands, who I'd describe as "edgy pop"...lotsa guitar, drum and great harmonies, and they sound SO MUCH like what we listened to (well, what I listened to) back in 1981 !! My later Roller days led me to listen to the not-quite-full-fledged-punk-but-not-quite- mainstream stuff.

And this kid thinks she's listening to something new...hardee har har. Bet these bands all have posters of the Ramones hanging on their walls.

Kara also gets annoyed when she hears one of "her" songs on top 40 radio and moans the same line I used to "I was listening to this song LONG ago and just NOW they play it on the radio like it's NEW??!!"

Youth, gotta love it.

This morning, as most of us were going about our "usual daily routines", Tami Tozzoli (top row, 2nd from right) bid farewell to her beloved mother, who succumbed to cancer after a long, but very dignified battle.

We were all very hopeful - right up to this past weekend - because she fought it so well to that point. but it wasn't meant to be.

I spoke with Tami tonight and she is doing as well as possible under the circumstances. Her and her family need as many prayers and thoughts as you can spare - for them -- if I know "Mommy" (she was always like one to me as well) she's already at the biggest party in heaven -- hosted by my Dad and all those who got there before her!

Thought this was interesting and wanted to re-post it here....for anyone interested in knowing "what ever happened to the "Bye Bye Baby" book/movie deal?"
-----------------

When Courtney Love bought the rights to Caroline Sullivan's book about the Bay City Rollers, it was meant to be the start of a beautiful friendship. Recently, though, things have gone rather wrong

Friday February 14, 2003
The Guardian

I wish I'd saved the emails. There were eight, spanning December 1999 to April 2002, all written in unpunctuated lower-case. The lack of full stops made them hard to follow, because they jumped from one tangential thought to the next, often in the middle of sentences. But there was a flatteringly confiding tone ("stipe and i are going to the erin brokovich premiere," she would write, and I'd be wildly chuffed that she'd told me) that made it easy to like her. Actually, I'd have liked her, anyway - she'd just optioned a book I'd written, Bye Bye Baby: My Tragic Love Affair with the Bay City Rollers, for a film. But there was a special little frisson every time "Courtney Love" pinged into my inbox.
Sadly, it's true: people turn into dribbling sycophants in the presence of celebrity. I certainly did. From the moment in autumn 1999 when Courtney's manager faxed my publishers, Bloomsbury, a letter headed Option Proposal, I crumbled in the face of fame. As a music critic, I'd always been ambivalent about the Hole-singer-turned-actor, but once she singled me out, the idea of a celebrity friend overrode any reservations. It's fashionable to sneer at people who buy Heat for a celebrity fix, but until it happens, you can't imagine how seductive it is. And when you figure in the thrill of friends asking, "Is it true that Courtney Love is making a movie of your book?" (I'd nod modestly, implying that although I was out of their league now, I wouldn't let fame change me), it's easy to understand why celebrities excite the same reaction as a seal begging for a fish. It wouldn't have mattered, I'm embarrassed to admit, if it had been Courtney or Delia Smith, though in the event, Courtney came with more kudos . . .

Because she liked Bye Bye Baby, a story of boy bands and girl bonding, I assumed we would become friends. It certainly seemed so when her first email arrived, just before Christmas 1999. It ambled along as if we'd known each other for years, and even included her home phone number in Los Angeles. Hey, Courtney, I thought - it's you and me. Buddies. Think Thelma and Louise. Think Michael Jackson and the rat in Ben.

But I don't blame me. I had had modest aspirations for the book, and the idea of anyone at all wanting to make a film of it didn't occur to me as I was writing it. The fact that Courtney, who'd blossomed into a rock star and actor since the death of her husband Kurt Cobain, did was so improbable that I just laughed, slightly hysterically, when I found out.

I hadn't even known she'd read the book. It transpired that someone at the Glasgow Herald knew she was once a Roller fan, and when Bye Bye Baby was published, sent her a copy in the hope she would write a review for their pages. Instead, she decided it would make a suitable subject for her directing debut. Her what? But that's what her manager said in the fax: "She has been looking for a project to direct for some time, and she sees this as her directing debut."

Not only that, her mate Michael Stipe of REM had launched a production company, and was apparently keen to get involved. Courtney mentioned this in her second email (all our communications were by email; I was too shy to phone her), and it was such an unlikely turn that if I'd made it up, nobody would have believed me. But by now, small pieces were appearing in the press, and I'd begun daydreaming about what I'd do with the money. In fact, I thought about it a lot. So did my friends, who grumpily said, "Suppose you've made a fortune out of this."

They'll be happy to know that I didn't. The real money, I discovered, comes not from selling an option, but from the movie actually being made. Most authors are lucky to receive £2000 for an option (in which a party such as Courtney pays for the right to develop a screenplay within a specific period, usually a year), but can expect a chunk when (more likely, if) it becomes a film. Only 5% of all optioned books do. But Courtney's high profile and Hollywood contacts made it seem a better than average bet. So there was potentially a small fortune in it, and I spent many happy hours imagining the pad I'd buy. A south London version of Lenny Kravitz's op-art Miami mansion appealed.

The 13-page contract was finally signed in April 2000, and Courtney's emails, which had chattily discussed various actors for the role of me - someone was going to play me! - stopped. Once the deal was done, I suppose she felt she no longer had to woo me, which was something of a relief. I'd been attempting to answer them in her own meandering style, and was never entirely sure what I was saying.

At around the same time, the Express and Telegraph ran features in which I'd idly said I wouldn't mind Leonardo DiCaprio and Ewan McGregor playing Rollers. Well, of course I wouldn't. But once it appeared, other papers printed it as fact. By October, the Sunday Times was writing: "Ewan McGregor has expressed interest in portraying the charismatic lead singer Les McKeown. Leonardo DiCaprio has, however, turned down the opportunity to portray the guitarist Stuart Wood." Now magazine said: "Roseanne star John Goodman is in line to play a major part in an upcoming movie about the Bay City Rollers . . .Courtney's thought to favour Keanu Reeves in the role of Les McKeown instead of Scots-born Ewan McGregor." John Goodman and Keanu Reeves? Who mentioned them? The thing was taking on a bizarre life of its own.

As far as I know, the film never got beyond the talking stage. Courtney renewed the option in 2001, and in August of that year invited me to LA - "Get your ass over here and help me write this script" was the way she put it. But September 11 intervened, and, unsurprisingly, we never got around to it. I heard from her once more last April, when the option was up. "I've got every frame of this film in my mind!" she wrote encouragingly. Then, to everyone's surprise, she failed to renew the deal, and that seemed to spell the end of my celebrity friendship. (But the British Film Council have recently shown interest, and Bye Bye Baby may yet become a film.)

Courtney, meanwhile, has taken up residence in the British tabloids since last week's much-reported air rage incident. She followed it up by appearing naked on the cover of Q magazine and appearing at an Elton John charity gig in a Donald Duck outfit. A friend who met her at the last asked if she still had plans for Bye Bye Baby. "She looked at me like a slightly cross-eyed deer, not quite focusing, and said, 'Yeah, it's great, but if I'm gonna start making films, I've got to take so much blow that I'd be running around the room for hours. And I've got an album to do first.'"

Has anyone seen Sum 41s video where they are playing onstage as The Sums? Their amp covers are plaid, they are all wearing tons of plaid. The one guitars pickguard is plaid. I only caught the tail end of it but it was kind of cute w/all the plaid. Reminded me of the BCR, but punk.
My daughter got a really cute pair of tennis shoes that are red plaid skate board shoes. I told her I would have killed for those back in 76 & 77.

Ya ya, I guess I could break down and post on my own board once in a while....LOL. I remember the days when we all used to race to be first to post "Happy Birthday" messages to our fave Rollers....how sad to log in on Nov. 12 and not see a single birthday post for Les! :o( Looks pretty lame next to the ol' days of Cee's 25+ "Happy Birthday Woody" posts!! ;o) Well I guess we're leaving that for Les's own message board these days. (Happy belated wishes to Mr. McKeown anyway!!)

As you may have noticed, I am in fact, back from "tromping across the moors"..(although actually I limped across them for three days after injuring my leg on the stairs at Tintagel Castle. Old age really sucks...lol.) If anybody cares to see pics of our whirlwind travels through the Atlantic Canadian provinces and the UK, you can check 'em out at http://www.eliskovich.com/nsuktrip.html. And since I'm not sure how to go about making that a link, y'all will just have to cut and paste....sorry!

OK, OK I won't be such a lazy butt.... let's try this and see if it works...but if not, you're on your own!

Did anyone else see the Vh1 special on bubblegum pop? I was quite surprised they didn't mention the BCR seeing as they brought up Tony DeFranco. (Though he has aged well I don't think he can compare with the BCR following!) The show appeared almost as though it was a platform for the new Katie Cassidy cd which did not fair well during the summer. She did a remake of "I think I love you". They did however have Danny Fields from 16 Magazine and the creator of Tiger Beat. Both of which explained how they brought the teen star in as a small pic which would grow to an almost 8x10 to only return to the small version. It made me wonder how many actual covers did the BCR have and for how long? Does anyone know?

Just your BCR topic for the day!

Linda, BAG stands for "Bay Area Gang" which is what the local Bay Area Roller Fans have been calling themselves for the last, oh gee what has it been....6-7 years now? (ack!) I haven't posted here in ages! I just wanted to say hi to everyone!

I lost touch with the many pen pals I used to have. I signed all those crazy little fan books we used to fill out & pass along.

I used to go by "Barb & Eric" & my sister used to go by "Melanie & Woody". We're from Westwego, Louisiana (about 15 minutes from New Orleans). I'm now 37 (& married, no kiddies). Melanie is now 33.

It sure would be cool to reunite with our former pen pals we lost touch with over the years & to make some new friends.

We never had the chance to see the Rollers in concert. For some reason, they didn't get a big following in the southern states. We loved them anyway!

Melanie & I are also into Queen, Van-Dells, gothic soap opera 'Dark Shadows', casino gambling, traveling, internet, & tons of other interests.

I welcome & will reply to all email. Please put something in the subject line BCR related, so that I don't delete it in error. I get so much spam that I delete 90% of my email without opening it. My email address is: Barbi_Route66@yahoo.com

I was on the phone with a friend when they told me that she had been in the car crash, and the early reports were that she was going to make it. Her injuries didn't "appear" to be fatal. (But then again, in hindsight considering it took EMS 2 hours to extraciate her, I'm not surprised that she didn't "appear" to be too terribly injured! Sorry, off my soap box!) But then, the subsequent reports told us that she did not make it. I was just curious where everyone was when they found out.

I know that I loved her from the minute their engagement was announced, got the "Di" hair cut and got up at 4:00 a.m. to watch the wedding and followed her for the next 16 years and still love her today!

Had the "chore" of having to escort a travel group to Mall of America for the weekend. (Darn that job!) And took w/ me my 15 year old daughter. Lemme tell you, those of you looking for a very special bonding experience w/ a teenaged daughter...this is IT! Wow, I'd been there before but this time I really had the time to thoroughly explore the place. You've GOT to go! Would also be a great girls weekend out w/ your friends. (And why has nobody planned a fest there before? No Minneapolis fans?)

Anyway, just a quick plug for the place: VERY cool, and for all the traffic it gets...very clean. Most hotels in the area offer free 24 hour shuttle service to and from the Mall, and the airport was huge, but well marked and easy to find your way around.

Kara and I took one very small carry on bag for our essentials - and checked one VERY LARGE empty bag...which btw, came back FULL (BEcky and Cathy might remember the monster of the bag I took to Vegas fest...and had to DRAG thru the airport..that's the one we filled at Mall of America).

Yeah, good to have a job that *requires* that I do these things...and do you think I can write off my Visa bill as a business expense?? :-)

I was watching Jeopardy this evening and there was a category called "Before and After" and there was a clue that went something like "Otis Redding's hit song sung by Scottish band on S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night" and the answer was "what is Sitting on the Dock of the Bay City Rollers".

Just wanted to share.....

I had to start a new message.....since it's about time for Halloween, I was just wondering what everyone's all-time scariest or favorite Halloween movie or movies are. I love "From Hell" with Johnny Depp looking for Jack the Ripper, but my two favorite scary movies are "Picture Mommy Dead" with Don Ameche, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Martha Hyer and "Taste of Evil" starring Barbara Stanwyck, Barbara Parkins, Roddy McDowall and William Windom. "Picture Mommy Dead" isn't really frightening, but it's suspensful, but there are parts of "Taste of Evil" that will make you jump out of your seats! Neither are gory, I hate that in a movie. I don't want to offend anyone, but the "Friday the 13th" movies and "Nightmare on Elm Streets"...they just aren't realistic...just bloody. Although, I love the original "Halloween" and it wasn't realistic either. Face it, when Jamie Lee Curtis stabbed Michael Myers in the neck with a knitting needle, he was a duster, but he survived!!! And then survived the subsequent fatal injuries and went on to do the sequels! It was the music in that movie that scared the crap out of ya'!!!! Just thinking of it gives me chills!!!

Okay, I'm done rambling.....so what's your favorites?

Well smother me bum in V8 and call me a Roolerhead. There I was innocently washing up after supper, boiling cranberry bagels before baking them, and chatting with the 18 year old. When all off the sudden the opening notes of a vaugly remebered song erupt from the TV. Before I knew it I was singing along whilst dancing about the kitchen. WARNING: do not do this while scooping bagels from boiling water. Sadly, no matter what tune they might use to tempt me I can't bring myself to drink that stuff. Here's hoping the lads at least got a free case outa the deal.

I am so floored by this I had to take it here. Did any of you see this woman beating her 4 yr old on the news? Had I been in that parking lot I'd have been arrested for A/B on the woman and then kidnapping charges for taking this little girl away from her. I hope to God they find her and she spends a little time in jail where all the mothers there will do a little dance on her head.

Have to briefly tell you all, I had the MOST fun last night!! Had the unexpected pleasure of taking my 9 year old daughter and a friend to see Aaron Carter in concert. Have to say I was pretty impressed at how well his show was put together. Very nice stage show, some cool effects, and of course...screaming little girls everywhere!!

Initially, I was a tad concerned for the quality of the evening when the first two acts came out and LIP SYNCHED their entire set....but luckily Mr. Carter had it a tad more together and put on a very nice show. (and that little dude can dance!)

The absolute best part of the night tho was watching my daughter's reaction to it all. Watching her face light up as *her* teen idol bolted on stage was such a treat! Seeing it all thru her eyes FAR OUTWEIGHED any of my BCR related shows/experiences/meetings. Definitely takes you back to those wide-eyed innocent days when we all first discovered our *idols*

Just thought I'd share.
