For a shifter Ezra was not very good at all at transfiguring. In fact he was terrible at it, it usually left him feeling sick as a dog. No pun intended. He shrunk back further into the alleyway and leaned his forehead against a door, one hand on his stomach and the other rubbing his eyes with a thumb and forefinger. He coughed. Next time he ought to stay as Shalom. The whole transfiguring into a dog wasn't that bad, he could sort of do that, it was just the shifting back into a human that always got him. Ezra turned away from the door and stood with his back to the wall instead, running a hand through his short, dark brown hair. He felt faint and pale.

He could smell there were other "oddies" around the main street, as the humans liked to call them. Those who knew about them, anyway. It didn't really bother him, though. It felt stranger if there were no "others" about, it sort of made him feel more vulnerable, for some reason, being the only one. Vampires he was wary of, though. Of course he'd never actually met one, and maybe there could be perfectly nice vampires out there, but he wasn't really interested in finding out.

Ezra pushed himself away from the wall and made his way out of the alley, his hands lying limp in the pockets of his hoodie. He really didn't know what to do with himself. Usually he had Judith to hang around and be bored with, but he had no idea where she was. They shared an apartment, a tiny ramshackle little apartment, but he hadn't seen her since yesterday morning. He figured he could always go and say hello to his mother and little sister. His mother was a long-suffering, caring and tired-looking woman, while his sister of nine years was quiet and remarkably bright, with an odd but nonetheless good sense of humour. Ezra smiled pensively to himself. Maybe he'd stop by later. He walked absent-mindedly down the fairly empty sidewalk, his eyes trailing along on the ground as if they found the paving stones interesting.

Light blue-grey eyes fell across a bench which already had somebody on it. Damn. Usually if there was a bench with a lonesome someone sitting on it gazing across an empty street, it gave the impression that they wanted to be alone. At least, it looked that way to Ezra. But he wasn't a mindreader. It was worth a try- she could either say yes or no. He made his way up to the girl. "Hey there. Sorry to interrupt your, uh... any chance of sharing a bench with a total random stranger?" he asked sheepishly, his voice husky.
