Attendance Karen Smith, Henry Smith, Miracle, Jill Adkins, Doug Adkins, Chole Bryant, Mary Adkins, Jody Adkins, Jackie Journey, Rue Sanders, Tony Coburn, Pat Coburn, Peggy Kindinger, Liza Wells, Caden Wells, and Andrea Charles CONGRATULATIONS to Mary Adkins for winning the prize for naming the most ways to use a Hotel Card!!!! The food was YUMMY, but most of all we enjoyed a fun and relaxing dinner with our family and friends. We also got to met Baby Caden. CHRISTMAS TREE FUNDRAISER 4 Life Runners are raffling off a Christmas Tree (Candy Land Theme). All proceeds will go to the Salvation Armys Fathers Table and The Challengers League. Date Posted: 11:03:24 09/26/09 Sat Jackie and I started out on our 20 mile run today. It hadnt started to rain yet so we were determined we'd be able to get it done. Right around the cemetary it started a light rain but we forged ahead. Jackie had her hat on and we dont mind running in the rain. We had a 20 mile run to complete. As we kept running it kept raining. Around Sheridan we heard a little thunder but kept on running. We kept hearing a little thunder here and there and kept on determined to get it done. On 23 we saw a lightening flash and thought we'd keep an eye on it. It lighteneding again as we were going down 23. At the end of 23 before we went up the viadock I asked Jackie what she thought we should do. Before she could answer there was another big lightening strick and more thunder. We let that be are sign and quit for the day. So we got our Monday run in and we will try to get er done tomorrow afternoon some time. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

During the giant yard sale we had at Jackie's Shop we reached sales of more than $600.00! This amazing, honestly awesome achievement really got our fund raising off to a great start...we are more than 25% HOME...on our way toward the $2000 needed to put on a TOTALLY AWESOME, WELL ORGANIZED, FUN, REWARDING, HELPFUL, EXCITING, TRULY MEMORABLE RACE ON APRIL 3RD! Remember...proceeds from this race go to the Father's Table at the Salvation Army, a wonderful organization feeding the hungry, and to the Challenger Little League Organization who currently gets NO FUNDING and enables teams of students with special needs to play sports, go to tournaments, get outside, be healthy ...just like their non-disabled friends get to do ROUTINELY! Good work, Good Job, Congrats, and Don't Quit to all the runners and walkers who finished races yesterday...and from all I hear...there was a good turnout...and as usually happens when a bunch of 4 Lifer's gather up...it was a great time. The weather was awesome and was simply one of those days saying "Come On...Get Out Here...Do it! Do it!" AND YOU DID! One of the observations I have made through the years is this: It is so exciting when another season comes around, seeing and feeling all the change...you can say to yourself now....I ran/walked through Winter, Spring, Summer and soon...FALL!!...or however much you have done so far! I love it! I love the memories, too. Another thing I love...our meetings...we are getting SO MUCH done! Don't miss meeting with YOUR 4 Life group of friends and encouragers this Thursday at 5:30, Damon's. You'll be glad you did! Karen PS...Let's firm up more race stuff and get plans going for Thanksgiving and Christmas...remember...meeting VIP stuff...first 45 minutes, then you can take off...but try for the 45....PLEASE...every single person's input makes a difference...as we see every meeting! The yard sale was a success way beyond the "trial balloon" stage...not only did we gather about 25% ($500.00) of the goal amount needed for the 5k race, we also had a fun time working together....REALLY working (and eating)! So many 4 Life Runners and Walkers showed up and delivered WHEN IT COUNTED...unbelievable! Do you know how they say almost EVERY organization...EVEN churches...are groups where only 10% of the members do 90% of ALL the work ALL the time? Well, truthfully, this can NEVER be said about 4 Life...I would say about 70% of our club put out BIG time...either donated money, food, items (many valuable!) or tons of time...and the results were crystal clear...when we all work together we get'er done! Way to go 4 Life...what you did today was unselfish, (and honestly here) truly for the good of OTHERS. Date Posted: 09:39:05 09/06/09 Sun Jackie and I ran our 18 miles this morning. We picked up a dog around Howard and he followed us up sheridan. ON sheridan we saw 5 deer and the dog kept following us. He followed us all the way to 23 before we got rid of him. His mom must of taught him to stay off the highway. On 2nd street a black cat jumped out of a tree and ran in front of us. Scared us to death. On our second pass over orchard we saw 2 more deer. I dont know what was up with all the animals today! It must of been nature day. We also passed the same bike rider half a dozen times today. Down by the river, up by coles, etc. He must of been riding his bike as far as we were running. The 4 Life Walkers and Runners certainly made a good showing TODAY...the weather was great, the race was fun, and though we didn't take home too many awards (are there EVER too many?!) every 4 Life member got some of the BEST REWARDS given out TODAY...THE PRIVILEGE, THE OPPORTUNITY...to keep building healthy activity and real lifelong friendships right into the lives we are living TODAY...NO WAITING FOR TOMORROW!....we are doing TODAY what we truly want to be doing 4 LIFE! When you go in, just let them know you are a 4liferunner and they will direct you to the left to the Shawnee Room where you will see a table set up for our group. Some people eat supper there, some just have water...but almost EVERYone has the free dessert we bring to every meeting which is always good...to celebrate the Happy Birthdays of the month...just for fun...but good! By the way when is your Bday? We will add you to email, so check yours when you can...and remember, whether you can meet with the group or not...and maybe you can sometimes...being passionate about running means "pushing yourself when there is no one else around...just you and the road!" Be persistent and don't quit...you can do it...and our group would love to help you stick with it...Remember: good shoes can help you run several hundred miles...real friends, the right kind, can help you run all your miles in the right direction...4 life...Brad, you can have those kind of friends in this club...so join us when you can! She has been following our emails and finally had a chance to catch a run with us. She is currently living in Ashland and will be moving to South Shore. Then she will be able to run with us on a regular basis. She is currently training to run a 15 miler in Charleston (I think) and wants to ultimately run a full. Welcome to the group Ginger! I will be posting the mileage for the week for the full and the half. The plan we are following is the one from Frontrunner. If you want to use a different plan that is fine. Use the plan that works for you and you are comfortable with. If you are running more than what the schedule has than keep running what you normally do and let the schedule catch up to you. One is in Minford and starts at the Middle school. $10 if you are preregistered and $15 on race day. It is a 5k race and the registration starts at 7:30 and the race starts at 8 am. I ran my first marathon in 2002 in Philadelphia, and repeated it in 2003. My husband ran his first marathon in 2005 and has run at least one every year since. Last year I ran the half Flying Pig and he ran the entire marathon. We have been training side by side since January 1st and we are determined to finish holding hands! Date Posted: 14:44:56 04/04/09 Sat Today was a great day for a run! Jackie and Pam ran 8 miles and Jill and I ran 10. The weather was perfect! If your not able to complete as many miles as we do don't let that discourage you from running with us. We can always incorporate your running level in with ours. We can run something short like the 5k route with those who are just beginning or haven't run for a while . We can then do another 2 mile run etc. for those who want something longer. Reason: We simply cannot hear a single thing at Applebee's; the noise and seating arrangement are so poor. Note: If this is your first Damon's visit, don't worry...you WILL be happy there...and it is soooo easy to find where we are at there!! Simply go in the front, tell the hostess you need to be in either the Shawnee or Ohio room...where ever the 4Life runners are...or you can go left on entering and look for us...you can't miss us that's for sure...big friendly arrangement in our VERY OWN ROOM! You will be awed by the fact we ever gave up this awesome meeting locale. It's private, the food, occasionally, is not as good as Applebee's...but what is fantastic is this fact: YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING AND BE COMPLETELY ON THE SAME PAGE AS EVERYONE...NO ISSUES AT ALL...AND THE WAIT STAFF ARE VERY RESPONSIVE, TOO! Remember...ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO EAT IF YOU HAVE ALREADY....NO NEED AT ALL!! Just come for an awesome meeting and help us plan...we really need everyone there. The more input...the more awesome our club gets!! Truly and honestly...there is wisdom in many counselors and that is EXACTLY why are club is still growing....we believe every person is valuable and has so much to contribute!! Be there so you can be encouraged and on every page with a bunch of friends who WANT YOU TO BE HEALTHY AND REACH GOALS!!
