Tarot followed him out of the pristine bathroom and into the equally resplendent hallway. This was definitely her idea of proper lodgings. She smiled slightly. Nice guy to open his home for her, especially since she was only an acquaintance. The kitchen was nice. If she cooked more often, she would be impressed. From a food-lover's point of view, though, she thought it excellent. You could serve some fantastic meals in this room.
She glanced over Zeth's shoulder into the fridge, trying her hardest not to touch any of countertops. He had said something about fruit loops and she didn't want to get in on that 'cherished' memory. Especially if the conception of the possessed child was part of it. She needed to ask, as soon as possible, if spell casting was permissible. Her magical signature, thank goodness, was lower than anyone else's. Maurus wasn't the best at tracking, unless it was staring him in the face. Homes were wonderful places, filled with emotion, love, passion and, of course, family. That was all well and good, but... much too personal for her. And she didn't need to be magical to know that the necklace hidden in her coat was screwing with her head. Normally she would have been able, without too much strain, to ignore all trapped memories. But right now? No. Everything was flying at her.
Screw it. Tarot leaned against the counter, eyes furrowing with concentration. She didn't want to know. She didn't want to know. She didn't want to-
Oh god.
She stood up as quickly as she could, twitching. What the hell? Tarot bit back a laugh. Not her home. None of her business.
Have any water? Filtered, if possible. She didn't do preservatives.
Tarot pulled the pendant from her pocket, throwing it onto the kitchen table. Enough was enough.
You have a very nice home. Aah. That was better. But... where's the wife? Did you eat her, like I suggested?
Hopefully not. That wouldn't be pleasant.
